Receding hairline or male pattern baldness?

King

I had noticed that I was losing lot of hair in my early twenties through until a year back and my hairline was receding near the temples...But in my late twenties...it seems to have stopped for 6 months to a year on its own..The hairline is not receding more..Is it Male pattern or is it just normal and I wont get totally bald?

Answer
The first and most important step is to do some self-diagnosis of your hair loss. Because you are young- under the average age of hair loss: (for men, anything younger than 30-45)âyou should begin by determining whether or not this hair loss seems temporary or permanent in nature. If large bundles of hair are coming out when washing your hair or very quickly, it is likely that your hair loss is temporary and caused by a stimulus other than genetic predisposition. If so, consult your physician first to ensure a proper diagnosis. If your hair loss seems permanent in natureâno regrowth of hair follicles, gradual loss, etc., there are a few steps to take. Primarily, though, you should start looking for treatment options to either completely halt the hair loss, retain what is left or promote new growth. In your case, it appears that your hair loss in permanent in nature.

Propecia is a prescription hair loss treatment that is prescribed for men only. Minoxidil (Rogaine) is rubbed directly onto the scalp and works for both men and women. Both can be effective in retaining existing hair â but it is rare for either to regrow cosmetically significant amounts of hair. It usually works best for hair loss at top and back of the scalp, where there is still some remaining hair. With both Propecia and Minoxidil treatments, consistency is key â once the treatments are stopped, any hair retained or regrown because of the drug will be lost in a matter of months.

Well chosen hairstyles can often hide hair loss effectively. Partial hairpieces or wigs are recommended if hair loss is severe.

Finally, there is hair transplantation- the only permanent solution to restoring your hair and hairline. Bosley has been hair restoration experts since 1974. During a hair transplant, healthy hairs are harvested from an area of the scalp with normal hair growth. Individual hairs are then placed into areas of hair loss. With over 200,000 procedures under its belt, Bosley physicians are experienced in producing results that are extremely natural looking. To learn more about hair restoration, you should contact a Bosley medical professional for a free consultation.

Low volume hair(thin hair) and wide forehead men hairstyle?

Kelvin

Being a teenager, I'm conscious about my hairstyle. The problem is, I have a wide forehead and thin hair. Every time I make my hair sideways, I look like a nerd with a medium haircut, like a big head with a low volume hair. It looks like an alien.

Can you suggest any hairstyle to me? I want an asian one.
It would be nice if you provide an image. Thank you.

Answer
With the round face, the hairstyle should be cut to slim the face. Very short styles that follow the curve of the head (such as a butch, burr, or a short crew cut) will emphasize roundness and should be avoided. Leaving the hair a bit longer/fuller and adding texture on top will help lengthen the face. Beards should be styled to slim the face as well.

If you have a wide forehead, try parting your hair in middle. Those with prominent foreheads might try a close arrangement of hair over forehead; wearing the hair brushed upward can also make a tall forehead seem a little shorter.

Decisions about receding hairlines depend a lot on how far the line has receded! For those who are just beginning to lose their hair in the front of the head, wearing the hair in a caesar cut or an otherwise forward style can help minimize a receding hairline. However, if your hairline pattern has advanced quite a ways backward, wearing the hair forward begins to look awkward and should be avoided. Very closely cropped styles look very good on a markedly receding hairline, and many men at this stage of hair loss will opt for the bald or nearly bald look. You may also want to consider adding a close-clipped full beard, a circle beard, or a van dyck to offset a receding hairline. A circle beard or a van dyck can give the face balance if you are wearing a bald or nearly-bald style.
