Does anyone know where I can get a photo of that new trendy carmel colored hair?

clueless

I have an appointment to have my hair colored and would like to try Carmel, which I heard is very popular for the fall. I know that some celebrities, like Jessica Simpson, are going with it. Does anyone know where I could find an online picture to give to my colorist?

Thank you!

Hair ideas for school?

Actinglove

I start school in ten days, im gonna be a junior in highschool this year and I want something cool. Last year I dyed it auburn, and it was a little to red for me. My natural color is brown.. its not super dark, and not super light. Kind of like the girl in this pic

http://i.istockimg.com/file_thumbview_approve/5184168/2/stock-photo-5184168-little-girl-with-long-brown-hair-staring-ahead-facing-camera.jpg

[I know the picture is really creepy lol]

Any way, I was thinking a darker brown, like this
http://www.style-hair-magazine.com/images/light-brown-on-top-and-dark-brown-on-bottom-18129.jpg

But my friend dyed her hair dark brown so I dont want people to think im copying her, so what could I do that would look good, but would add something that she doesnt have? I dont want to be the same, I just want it to look pretty. I have Blue eyes btw if this makes any defference. lol

Answer
Have you tried ombre yet? It's trendy at the moment and it looks great with a summer tan. If you don't know what ombre is, it's a gradient effect on your hair going from your hair color (your natural or even died color) and have it fade to a lighter brown or blonde. I did it to my hair and I love it!

Heres pictures of ombre:

Prom Hair Help?

Laura Ashl

Still looking for prom hairdos.

My hair is just above my shoulders, and it's very thin and straight. It doesn't hold a curl AT ALL. Prom is Saturday. I need help badly.

If you'd like to give me makeup tips as well, I'd love you. I am kinda pale with black hair and green-ish blue eyes. My dress is a royal purple color with black tulle overlay.

I'm kind of a tomboy and don't ever mess around with makeup and hair, so I'm really stumped here!!

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Applying Your Makeup

FOUNDATION: When applying makeup, the first thing is to remove old makeup or dirt. The night before, you might want to use a mask (one that you have used before) so that you feel extra refreshed before the big evening. Getting ready the day of will be stressful enough, so eliminate stress where you can. After cleaning your face, apply an even coat of foundation - you want it to match the color of your skin, and using a slightly tinted foundation can give those pale faces a more lively look. But try not to over apply - "The Less, the Better." One of my personal peeves is foundation lines (i.e., around the neckline) - so make sure that everything is blended. It helps if you use a well-lit room when you do your makeup. Use a concealer to blot out any unwanted blemishes.

EYES: Once the foundation is applied, it's time for the eyes. You don't want your shadow to necessarily match the dress because this will washout those beautiful eyes. Instead, compliment the dress with contrasting color eye shadow. If you are wearing a blue dress, try applying peach or pink tones and if you are wearing a dark dress, you can compliment it with wine or purple colors. Do some experimenting before the big night. Curl your lashes before applying eye shadow and use mascara that will lengthen and separate your lashes. To make your shadow last longer, first apply a small coat of lotion to your lids.

BLUSH: Apply a blush that fits your fashion style as well as your skin color. Keep it natural looking.

LIPSTICK: Use a gloss instead of a lipstick, if possible, - This season it is all about the shine. Any color will do - just make sure that your lip color doesn't wash your face out.

Makeup Styles

Prom night you will want to stand out, and the style this season is just that...dramatic.

If you want to go GLAM try wearing fake eyelashes. When applying, cut them into sections and use glue to apply evenly to the base of you natural eyelashes.

Remember not to go overboard by applying a lot of shadow to your eye lids by wearing a deep lipstick - the lashes will say enough. Coat your eyes with natural beige and then use a dark liner along your lashes.

A TRENDY run way model style is to use shadow as a liner and smudge it outward towards your crease. Do this all the way around your eyes (top and bottom). The best colors to use are gold, purple, and turquoise. Use a very thin dark liner at the tips of your eyes if you want to darken your eyes. Stay away from dark lips; go for subtle pink to beige.

Since prom is your night to be all done up and girlie, you might want to highlight your makeup with PINK tones. Use vanilla shadow on your brow bone and put a pink shimmer around your lash line. Don't use too much pink - you don't want to look like you have a case of pink eye. Blend the pink upward toward the vanilla. The key to makeup is learning how to blend. Now outline your eye with a pink pencil. Use a soft pink on the apple of your cheeks and use a pixie pink on your lips.

If you want to put the focus on your LIPS, apply a red lip-gloss. Keep your eyes a natural tone. Instead of using black eyeliner, substitute it for brown eyeliner. Popular now is to use gloss, but if you use a regular lipstick, make sure that you mix it with a clear gloss until you have a load of shine.

Tips to Remember:

-Even out your eyes and your lips by bringing attention to only one

-Find good mascara

-Get 8 hours of sleep 2 days before

-Eat healthy... your face will be happy!

-Blend foundation evenly

-Wear a shiny gloss

-Less is more!

What hair color goes BEST with a NATURAL TAN?

MCB

Ok, well I was thinking about coloring my hair a jet black color, because that how it was before but the sun faded it out?
Now its like a light-ish black /dark brown and its jus really dull

so what color would go best with my natural tan?
i have brown eyes so i want something that really helps my eyes show up a bit more
Pics would help =]

Answer
Brightening Brunettes and Brown Hair Highlights:
Brown hair can be brightened into a multitude of hues through various hair styling and coloring techniques, including:
* Highlights: Adding honey, ginger, almond, russet, or other light highlights to brown hair adds texture and dimension to the hair. Be careful not to go too many shades lighter to avoid a streaked appearance, and note that darker brown shades do not show red highlights well.
* Hair Accessories: Dark shades show off glittering hair pins, head bands, and decorative comes far better than lighter hair colors, particularly in updos and other formal hair styles.
* Natural Lightening: Most brown shades will lighten naturally with exposure to sunlight, and they will develop red and blonde tints depending on each individualâs genetic makeup. To create natural highlights in unique patterns (and ensuring that more than the top layer of hair is lightened) wear braids or ponytails to expose different strands.
If you already have brunette hair and are looking for ways to save some hard earned, beauty-splurge cash, why not go back to your roots and go the natural route? Despite popular fears that brown hair is boring, there are plenty of spicy ways to add a timeless look to your already beautiful brunette hair.
* Enrich: Enrich your natural color with an allover shade a few shades richer. To add some contrast and interest, ask your stylist to weave in a few copper hair highlights.
* Deepen: Go chocolate! If youâre natural brown borders on moussey, richen it up with a decadent shade of chocolate brown, which will add instant drama with little investment.
* Shine: Shine or color glossing treatments adds sparkle and sheen to dark hair. A glossing treatment can be done in the salon for a bargain price and will instantly add some life to your locks.
* Vanilla and Chocolate: Want the best of both worlds? Brunettes can still play with blonde without a large commitment. Ask your stylist to add a few strategically placed blonde hair highlights around your face to brighten your look while keeping the rest of your color natural.
* Chunk: Although not as trendy as days gone past, statement chunking techniques on a dark base add instant pop and a low maintenance color choice for those seeking a dramatic and bold look. Experiment with shades of blue, blonde, or red chunks. Get creative!

Best hair colors that make olive skin tone look lighter?

Blah

I have an olive colored skin tone and have dark, brown hair--almost black. I was wondering if there are any hair colors that will my skin tone lighter.

Answer
I'd try this website:
http://www.visual-makeover.com/color.htm

"The perfect hair color for you

Whatever type of hair color you opt for, choosing the proper range of shadesâwarm or coolâis the key. The right hair color shade will brighten up your hair style . . . and your life.

What is the most basic principle of color theory applied to hair? It's choosing between warm and cool shadesâand with the dizzying variety of hair colors available, choosing can sometimes be confusing. The best way to make pleasing hair color choices is to determine whether natural coloringâhair, eye, and skin tonesâis in the warm or cool range of colors. Answer these questions, or better yet, have your best friend give you her opinion, which is likely to be more accurate:
My eyes are:

* Deep brown or black-brown (Cool)
* Golden brown (Warm)
* Gray blue or dark blue (Cool)
* Green, green blue or turquoise (Warm)
* Hazel with gold or brown flecks (Warm)
* Hazel with white, gray or blue flecks (Cool)

My skin is:

* Very dark brown (Cool)
* Brown with pink undertone (Warm)
* Brown with golden undertone (Warm)
* True olive (most Asians and Latinos) (Cool)
* Medium with no color in cheeks (Cool)
* Medium with faint pink cheeks (Cool)
* Medium with golden undertones (Cool)
* Pale with no color in cheeks (Cool)
* Pale with pink undertones (Cool)
* Pale with peach or gold undertones (Warm)
* Freckled (Warm)
* Ruddy (Warm)
* Brown or bronze when I tan (Cool)
* Golden brown, when I tan (Warm)

My hair color is:

* Blue black (Cool)
* Deepest coffee brown (Cool)
* Medium ash brown (Cool)
* Deep brown with gold or red highlights (Warm)
* Medium golden brown (Cool)
* Red (Warm)
* Strawberry blond (Warm)
* Dishwater blond (Cool)
* Golden blond (Cool)
* Salt and pepper (Cool)
* White (Cool)
* Gray with a yellow cast (Warm)

What were your answers

Did you check mostly cools? If so, your natural tones are in the cool spectrum. Mostly warms? Then you're naturally "warm."
Cool

Naturally cool people should avoid gold, yellow, red and bronze tones, which have a tendency to make you look sallow and drawn. The best hair color shades, depending on your skin tone, are shiny raven-wing blacks, cool ash browns, and cool blondes in shades ranging from mink to platinum and icy white. You're fortunate to be able to wear many exciting "unnatural" colors . . . lipstick reds, burgundies, and orchids, for a more daring look.
Warm

Naturally warm people should avoid blue, violet, white and jet-black hair, which will seem to "wash out" your natural high hair color. Depending on your skin tone and your preference, you'll find that deep chocolate, rich golden browns, auburn, warm gold, red highlights, and golden blond shades enhance your "sunny" look. Hair weaving and hair highlighting are great ways to add warm tones to your hair colorâand natural-looking corals, oranges and reds are dazzling on you!"

It doesn't necessarily tell you what will make it look lighter, only what will complement it, that way you're not doing something that'll make you look sickly.

What colour hair is best suited to olive skin? 10 EASY POINTS?

Amy

I have olive skin and i have very dark brown hair at the moment. I really want lighter hair but im not quite sure what colour to go for. I dont want blonde hair, but i do want a light shade. Thank you for your help :) amy x

Answer
As a rule, dark hair colors suit olive skin tones best, regardless of whether your skin tone is cool or warm, so consider black, medium brown, darker blonde hair shades and dark reds as potential hair colors for you.

Going two shades lighter or darker than your natural hair color will give you the most flattering finish. For example, if your hair is naturally black then a brown or dark brown hair color is a great option to try.

A warm hair color will pick up the golden, yellow undertones of your olive complexion and enhance them. You, being a brunette, could go with shades of golden brown, mocha brown, chestnut, auburn or a caramel color.

Can you buy hair color at a salon?

Ipod.Perso

I got my hair colored je black at Regis. I like the color and I want to buy it, but I don't want them to dye it because there's extra cost. Is it possible to just buy the color and do it yourself? I'm asking because I haven't seen any hair color for sale. Also how much do you think the color would cost? Just the color in the box, not like the hair stylist coloring it for me. Thank you. :)

Answer
No, hairdressers do not sell hair dye as it is illegal because their hair dye can only be used by professionals. The only hair dyes which you can buy are the ones found in pharmacies and supermarkets as they are not professional products, but they do have a nice colour chart where you can choose your favourite colour from :)

Have you ever tried henna hair color and does it look natural?

Micah

I have natural dark brown hair and would like to cover very small amounts of gray hair starting to show. I am interested to find out if henna hair color looks natural and if it is best to go with a lighter color henna or the same color as my natural color? Also, how long does henna color last and does it cause your hair color to be permanently altered when it wears off.

Answer
For years, there has been speculation among consumers and health groups that consistent use of hair color can result in an increased risk of certain types of cancer. According to Begoun, this is a real concern, but exhaustive research by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health has yielded no conclusive answers. Begoun says the research has been both confusing and conflicting: "In essence ⦠there is no definitive proof one way or the other." The FDA recommends that consumers weigh the risk for themselves.
Henna, for example, is a natural hair color that is incredibly drying to the hair shaft, Begoun says. And cosmetics scientists at TheBeautyBrains.com say that henna will only temporarily tint your hair. Although most so-called natural hair-color products use fewer chemicals than most drugstore hair colors, experts say that any change to natural hair color causes hair damage. Experts suggest using the gentlest formula that will yield your desired color and using it as infrequently as possible.
Herbatint & Naturetint are two permanent hair colors that use a smaller amount of hair dye chemicals in conjunction with natural ingredients. Both have fairly decent ratings at MakeupAlley.com (though each gets only a handful of reviews).

Here's a new article I found re: henna, which is supposed to be better for you than reg. box dye. It's a good read! Google Henna for Hair warnings.

Example of one who's hair is falling and stopped growing:
"my hair had been bleached many times and can't grow past a certain length
its also falling out . i stopped bleaching it.
i just need to add lenght! but if i can stop it from falling out..that be great too"

Permanent black hair dye is linked to causing leukemia and lymphomas.

Google: Teen 'feared she would die' after reaction to hair dye
The allergic reaction was caused by a well-known brand of semi-permanent hair dye Chloe used to turn her hair black for a Halloweâen party. . . . . called for beauty bosses to ban hair dye chemical PPD (para-phenylenediamine) from the shelves. 11-04-11

Google: A 38-year old mother left in a coma after using hair dye. 11-22-11. SHE DYED HER HAIR MANY TIMES BEFORE, USING THE SAME BRAND.

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Itâs made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Itâs well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time.

Has anyone ever colored their hair soft black that has medium brown hair?

Tabatha

i actually have medium auburn hair, med. Brown with red tint to it, its my natural color! I want dark hair, but not too dark as i am fair skinned!! Im going with garnier bc i love their products, the hubby liked it when i used soft black years ago however i was thinking i should go with dark or darkest brown, what do you guys think, ps as we all know color tends to fade a little after a few washes as well, ty in advance for your opinion

Answer
The thing to remember is, black hair coloring isn't like other colors - it doesn't fade the way brown or red color does. If you don't like how dark it ends up being, you can fade it by mixing hairdressing peroxide (like a 20 or 30 grade) with your shampoo every day until the black lightens. This is the only method I've found that works for lightening dyed-black hair.

That said, I think soft black is a really pretty color, and I love Garnier's products too - I've used their dark burgundy for about a year now, and I've used their soft black in the past.

Is bright red hair considered unprofessional?

moocowmoo

So I have an interview coming up for a management position in an office environment and just recently I dyed my hair bright red. The shade is like this http://stat.mobli.com/media_stills/media_206253.jpg (this is not a picture of me). I was wondering if this would come off as unproffessional, because if so I am willing to dye it. I really like my hair though and don't want to dye it unless I know I already have the job. Would it be appropriate to mention at the interview that I have no problem dying it, or would I blow my chances if I showed up with this hair? Thanks for your answers.

Answer
Look, the red color probably looks awesome and trendy and you probably love it, but it could absolutely interfere with your chances landing a job. If you were interviewing for a fashion editing gig or a hair salon receptionist's job, it wouldn't matter. Your bright red hair would fit right in.

However, this sounds like a more traditional office environment, and extreme styles can really send a bad message. I mean, you want to be yourself and be stylish, but there is a "fashion code of professionalism" and you need to follow it.

Here's what I'd do-- dye it a normal color until you get a job. If, after a few weeks, you feel comfortable asking your supervisor what the "policy" is on hair color, or you feel like having a conversation about it, go ahead. Maybe he or she will give you the green light for your red hair. I kind of doubt you'll get approval, though, because when you work for an organization, you aren't just representing yourself, you're representing the entire company, too. You also don't want to be treated differently by customers or other staff members because you have a bit of an extreme look (even if it is fun and punky).

There are answers on Yahoo that I already see who are saying, "It's fine!! Do what you want!! Keep the red!! Who cares!!"

But, they aren't the young professional who needs to start her new career on the right foot.

Good luck. :)

What colour should i get?

Bubbly

Should i dye my hair a totally different colour like:

Black, Blonde or Red

Or should i get foils of one of those colours?

If so which colour would i suit and why?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/23251412@N05/

Thankyou in advance!

Answer
you can get color your hair black with foils of Red because it the Black color will give ur face a definition and red highlights will give u a trendy look

Do celebrities use self tan or tanning beds?

jordan

Im in a situation, I want to look tan but im not sure what to use. I currently just started usingSt Tropez Dark Bronzing Mousse and its a nice colour, but its a pain to make it look as natural & nice as I would look using a tanning bed. The problem is, im a little nervous about using a tanning bed due to the wrinkles it causes, im also only 16.

Thanks!

Answer
Dancing with the Stars use spray tans THE NIGHT before they perform. George Hamilton & Tom Jones use tanning beds. Take a look what they look like now in their 60's & 70's. Those with silky, smooth pale skin, they don't. This is what beautiful flawless skin looks like:
http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/dos-and-donts/hairstyle-pictures-today/2012/05/15/zooey-deschanel-side-swept-chocolate-curls
Google Liv Tyler. http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=liv+tyler&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
Or Google Catherine Zeta Jones - she's 42 with beautiful skin.

I'll let Lisa & Glenna tell you about tanning beds.
Google Lisa and see what she looks like 2010.
"Plastic Week: Lisa Gastineau On The Dangers Of Tanning Beds"

SELF-TANNERS: "I've had many patients who think these products somehow offer UV protection or that they give them a 'base tan' so they won't burn," says Dr. Hale, a NYC M.D., dermatologist and vice chair of the Skin Cancer Foundation. "'If I have skin cancer, you'll just remove it, and I'll be OK'. But the color that self-tanners create on your skin is completely artificial. But a lot of young women use these products so they don't look pale when they go to the beach to tan." 86% of women surveyed who use self-tanners reported they'd also baked in the sun, and 36% admitted they'd also used tanning beds (a leading cause of melanoma!) at least once in the past year. Australian study confirms that sunless tanning likely did not reduce the amount of UV exposure women get.

Spray-tan fans beware! Christina Aguilera discovered an unfortunate side effect to her faux-glow when her tan reportedly ran down her leg during her tribute at Etta James's memorial service, People magazine Red Carpet Style issue page 10.
Example 1 from YA: "Spray tan won't come off after 3 weeks! Help!?
I got a spray tan about 3 weeks ago for a formal and it won't come off!

I get a body shower every day and the spray tan around my arms and neck have come off but my chest and legs and stomach are so patchy! Even if I scrub at it with an exfoliation cloth, it will not come off. It's so ugly".

Example 2: "Bad spray tan..can I try to cover it up by going to a high pressure tanning bed?
I used loreal spray tan on myself last night and now my arms are uneven..pale in some spots and dark in others".

Example 3: I just got a spray tan at L. A. Tan (1st time) and when I got home I noticed that my chest area had dark colored dots from the spray tan and it looks really bad with low cut shirts. It's half white and half brown! Is there anything I can do to help blend the color in like lotions or even remove the tan? I don't want to go to school looking like a lady bug!

If you get laser-hair removal DO tell your doctor or technician if you're tan, otherwise he might use the wrong laser setting, potentially burning the skin. Avoid self-tanners for 30 days pretreatment.

Example 4: "About a week ago i got a sun burn on my chest and shoulders from playing sports outside. The burn wasnt too bad but yesterday i went and got a spray tan to even out all the lines for summer. I woke up this morning and my chest and shoulders were peeling from the previous burn. there are now about 3 different skin tones/shades on these areas."

Young & the Restless - the episode during Summer's Graduation Day, her mom Phyllis Newman - had a self tanner. Her fingers were pale, the rest of her body had spray tan. Even on soap TV, they have bloopers on fake tan products!

What are the best makeup types for these features?

Emily

I'm doing a few peoples makeup for a party and I'm not exactly sure what would complement their features. One has hazel eyes and medium brown hair and light skin and the other has dirty blonde hair and blue eyes (one of her eyes has some brown in it) and light skin. I need to know what eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, and lip product I should use. Product suggestions and techniques would be helpful. Thanks!

Answer
1) {Optional} Use a face primer (Like the Benefit Porefessional or Maybelline Baby Skin) and smooth it all over your face like a moisturizer to make sure your makeup lasts

2) Use a BB Cream (Like the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream) and smooth it all over your face like a moisturizer.

3) Use a concealer (Like the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer) and dab it under your eyes using your ring finger (your skin is very sensitive right their) to brighten and cover up any dark circles

4) {Optional} If you have any blemishes or acne/pimples/zits you want to hide, take the concealer, apply it to the area, and dab it in

5) Set your BB Cream and Concealer in and mattify by taking a powder (Like the Rimmel Stay Matte or L'Oreal True Match Powder) and use a large fluffy brush to dust it all over your face

6) For eyes:
Natural Look:

-Put a bright (but not too shimmery) white shade in the inner corner of your eyes, this will brighten them and make your your eyes POP and bring out the color

-Put a white shimmery or matte (non-shimmery) shade all over your lid (you can use your finger) this will highlight and brighten your eyes even more, making them glow

-{Optional} Take a matte (non-shimmery) brown shade and just put some in your outer corner and a bit of the crease (use a brush)

or

Natural Semi-Smokey: http://www.rarely-pins.com/2013/03/natural-smokey-eye/

-Put a bright (but not too shimmery... kinda like the girl in the pic) white shade in the inner corner of your eyes, this will brighten them and make your eyes POP and bring out the color

-Put the same white shade in the first 1/3 section of your lid (you can use your finger)

-Take a really light brown/tan shade and put it in the middle of your lid (you can also use your finger)

-Take a darker brown shade and put it into your outer corner and crease (use a brush) and blend (use a brush)

7) Curl your lashes and apply mascara (Like the Covergirl Clump Crusher or Benefit Theyâre Real!) use a really good mascara so you won't need eyeliner.

8) {Optional} Fill in your eyebrows. This may seem weird, but if your eyebrows are sparse or patchy, use an eyebrow pencil (Like the Anastasia Brow Wiz) and fill in your brows by drawing in brow hairs or use a brow gel (Like Benefit Gimme Brow) and sweep it across your brows. Filling in your brows will draw attention to your eyes without too much eye makeup

9) Take a blush (Like any of the Wet 'n Wild Blushes or any of the Nyx Square Blushes you like) and use a fluffy (But not too big) brush to sweep across your cheek bone

10) {Optional} Take a bronzer (Like Sunny by NYC) and dust it all over your face, then use the same fluffy brush that you used for blush to sweep along the bottom edge of your cheekbone to contour and define. Then, sweep it across the sides of your faces to contour and make the illusion of a slimmer and smaller face.

11) Take a nice baby pink or pale pink gloss or tinted lip balm (Like Peaches and Cream or Creme Brulee Nyx Butter Glosses) and just apply to your lips

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Hair dye question? Color?

(:

So I'm thinking about redyeing my hair a lighter color. My hair is naturally jet black and I dyed my hair and it turned into a dark reddish brown color. Now I'm thinking of going lighter, like a light brown and I am wondering if I can dye my hair on top of my already dyed hair? Or would I have to bleach my hair to do it?
Would the color show if I use a blonde box on top of my already dyed reddish brown hair color?

Answer
No. You will have to bleach your hair if you are wanting a lighter brown, because you cannot lift color with color.

Some box dyes designed specifically for dark hair can sometimes lift color a couple of levels, but it usually doesn't turn out with much much lighter color.

I'd recommend finding a good stylist who has good experience with color (in particular, bleaching) and have a consultation to determine what you should do depending on the condition, color, and porosity of your hair at present. (Since you mentioned your hair is reddish, it may be hard, though not impossible, to bleach it yourself without it turning brassy as red tones are hard to get out of hair.)

It may cost a bit more money, but trust me, it will be worth it! And, the consultation should be free! :)

Good luck, and please feel free to email me if you need to know any other information!!!

How do I dye my hair this color?

Miranda R

The color I want:
http://media.photobucket.com/image/lights%20poxleitner/casdavihay/lights_valerie_poxleitner_singer.jpg?o=5

My dark brown hair: http://s256.photobucket.com/albums/hh189/MirandaEveryday/?action=view&current=Photoon2010-05-05at1322.jpg&newest=1

What's the name of the color of her hair? Is there a process to make my hair lighter like that? (bleaching or anything?) or can i just get a box of a certain color? if so, which color?

I have like, no experience of dying my hair.. hah, but ive always wanted to lighten it like hers, or dye it red.. or something.
If the second link doesn't work then use this one: http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh189/MirandaEveryday/Photoon2010-05-05at1322.jpg?t=1273184113

Answer
Well first off if your hair is darker than the color you want you cannot dye your hair using a lighter boxed color because your hair is darker than that color. First you would have to bleach your hair and then dye your hair that color. That certain color is like a chestnut color and if you get this done I suggest that you go to a hairstylist. I hope this helped you out

Nervous about hair style.?

Q. My semi formal is tommorow night. my sister is doing my hair but I dont know what she needs to do it. How would I style it correctly?
http://www.sweetkisses.net/images/idobookscans/images/28.jpg
I have straight dirty blond hair. I dont have high lights and my hair goes down to the center of my back

Answer
First off, that's a very lovely style.

Secondly, it all depends on what type of hair you have. If you have very straight or very curly hair, you might just want to go have it done at a salon if you can find an opening somewhere.

However, if that's not an option, here's what you do:

For very straight hair, you'll need a big-barreled curling iron. Don't get one of those skinny ones because you won't get that loose, flowy look. Take a strip of hair, not too chunky, and brush it out and spray it with a hair spray. Then roll it on the curling iron. Hold it there for about 20-30 seconds. Very carefully and gently, let go of the hair with the iron, and let it fall naturally. Spray again. Do this until your entire head of hair is done. Then style it as it is in the picture with some cute barettes.

If your hair is super curly, you'll need to flat iron it first, then go through the steps above.

If you're lucky, and you have wavy hair, you'll just need to curl bits of pieces of your hair to make sure the curl sticks for the night, and spray it with a quality hair spray.

It will be a lot of work, but it will look awesome.

Good luck!

Trendy hairstyle?

Freulein J

I'm going for a haircut soon. But i'm not sure what sort of hairstyle is nice and fashionable. I have long straight hair above my waist. And it's black.
Is there any nice hairstyle that's in trend around ur areas?
Like absolute layered or anything for fringe too? ^^ Thanks

Answer
I think the best answer for you is too...look at some books and go for a consultation, when looking in books try to find a style that has similar hair as yours this will ensure a good style for you...(if your hair is thin and no volume, a thick haired cut wont work as you don't have the volume),etc... as it appears that you have had long hair for awhile now...don't do anything too drastic...the holidays are coming up and you want to be comfortable...maybe something long about the middle of your bra length...with some long layers that start about the bottom of your ear...this way you can have some much needed volume...also I think that maybe you could have some golden brown highlights put in your hair, to give it some depth...don't try to go blonde this will turn your hair orange it takes a few times to bleach out your hair to get it blonde, and you will have lots of root touch ups, this can be costly...also if you keep it bra length, you can still pull it back in pony...on those bad hair days....shorter hair required products and alot of time to fix daily...

GOOD LUCK HOPE YOU FIND A HAIRSTYLE THAT WORKS....

Make sure you have a GOOD feeling in your GUT, about the person that cuts your hair...once it's cut you won't be able to go back....only time will fix it...

does anyone know any good sites to look at trendy short hairstyles? -?

Hair extensions question!?

Cass

I am planning to get hair extensions today from Sally's Beauty Salon.

Which brand is the best?
I am looking for these qualities:
-durable for straightening and curling
-looks real and not fake (is not frizzy but silky quality)
-easy to manage and to clip in
-stays in throughout the day

Please tell me your opinion on which brand or kind to get

Thank you
10 points rewarded

Answer
Getting extensions are not that easy, like buying shoes. AND if you have problem styling your own hair, add hair extensions to the formula, it will be even harder to style when you have them.

People waste tons of money on extensions because it's the new trend. Without doing much research. Then, they come to YA HAIR and ask us questions on how to clip it on their hair, if they can go swimming, play sports, if they can dye or perm, etc. Do you think you'll have time for school, trying to put on hair extensions over 1 hour every morning? Then they ruin it by dyeing to match their hair.
If you live in NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, Texas or San Diego and you wear hair extensions made by Remy, it COULD have been from a stolen beauty store and are sold for much more! It's also possible they're being sold ONLINE.
It's really not that simple! Then again, it will not work out if you have thin hair, the clip will be showing through! How embarrassing will that be, if it keeps falling out from your head, if it's not on right!?!
May 22, 2011: Model and businesswoman Katie Price, who was formerly topless model Jordan, is demanding compensation from a top Los Angeles hair salon after she spent $17,000 on hair colourings and extensions that she claims were botched, leaving her hair so damaged it began falling out.

Kate Gosselin got hers from a salon, and she was on the front cover of People magazine, but she HATED her hair!!!! Access Hollywood. She paid $7,000 for hers. Took 7 hours.

At the salon: 25-50 ($50-$100) extensions, they also have hidden costs, like monthly maintenance fees, one girl charge YA poster $248 more saying the salon put 120 extensions on her head, but she only counted 60. They are very charming!
Google Britney Spear's hair extensions. July 21, 2010.

Jessica Simpson & Paris Hilton don't even use their own hair extensions, plus they have stylists to do them in photo shoots or travel with them. Jessica was photographed, showing her clip-ons during a windy day.

EXAMPLES OF WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT their HAIR EXTENSIONS
well on friday i got synthetic extensions, and they dont curl very well, so i was wondering if i plaited them and left them over night would they go crinkly and mix in with my real hair
because theyre fake i dont know if i can actually style them very well, which is annoying!
+they are starting too get ratty, any tips on how to take care of them ?
thanks!

And another ex:
I have sewn in hair extensions. My natural hair is neck-length, and these extensions are down to my chest. They're sewn in (if you didn't already know) with black tracks, while the hair is my natural hair colour: brown. But I want to have it up in a high-ish ponytail. But, obviously, the tracks are really obvious. How can I make them less obvious?
I hate having to have my hair down all the time. I've always wanted it, but now I'm getting bored. :/

One more ex:
I removed my hair extensions yesterday after 4 months. My hair is really thin does any1 no any good products to thicken it?

And another ex:
i bought 100 dollars clip in 100% human hair extensions and it hurts and pulls my hair. u shud just wait til it grows out. my hair was real short and i wanted extensions real bad and now i feel bad wasting 100 bucks on that where i cud of spent it on clothes or sumother beauty thing. ur not going to wear them after a while cuz u get annoyed having to keep clipping them in and all or whateever kind of extensions ur getting.

This one says it all:
i have had hair extensions done in a hairdressers in melton mowbray 3weeks ago. i have been told they are 100% real hair but they look terrible,it looks like i have been back-combing it. if i curl them it just goes frizzy and if i straighten them it also goes very frizzy with the back-coming look. i have bought all the products that was advised and i have looked after them the way i was told to. i have had hair extensions before and they were lovely, i had no problems. i have been back 2 times to the hairdressers for help and advise and i was told that the hair is rubbing on my shoulders which is giving the back-combing look (my shoulders are not that big). i am now asking for my money back and the hair taken out but they are refusing. i have spoke to the hairdressing federation and they told me to call trading standards, they said to get them tested but i do not know where to send them. thanks for any help.

Sources:
I know hair. I have over 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 90's. I've known people in their 30's whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70'

A good salon for a guy to get his hair colored in Atlanta?

z71tahoe28

I'm a college student and my best girl friend on campus got me into coloring my hair cause it looks better a darker brown, I'm not gay either. I go to school in Florida, and need to find a salon in North Atlanta

Thanks!

Answer
Rock-It salon, hands down. I got my hair colored there for years before I opened my own. The staff is younger and really rocker-chick, and not snotty, so you'll feel comfortable. They cater to rockstars, too.

They have a webpage, rockitsalon.com, I think.

Sigger is also good, but pricey and hard to get into.

What is a Good Hair Color Choice for me?

Chrissy K

Hello! I have a sidecut, Meaning part of half of my hair is shaved off, its about a inch long now. And the rest of my hair is about to my breasts. Its not that long, but its not that short. I have currently red hair, like cherry red. My natural is blonde and i've tried dark brown on the bottom, Red, Strawberry blonde (before my sidecut) and blonde with blue and purple. I don't want something TOO crazy that will be hard to get back to blonde from.. like black. I'm not ready for that yet. But I also don't want anything too ordinary. I love my red hair.. but it fades very fast and I don't like having to constantly re-dye my hair. Any ideas? :) If you want to know what a sidecut looks like before you answer the question, you could just type it in, in google. Thanks!
I'm 14 if your wondering...

Answer
Maybe you could do bright red or black on the bottom and blonde on top. I know a couple girls who dyed the front of their hair green/red and had their natural color in the back also. How can I do my hair for school?

Emma

I am completely clueless how to style my hair for school, or anywhere. What I basically do is just wash, dry, brush, and go. Never put it in a pony tail, nothing. I could really use some ideas on what I can do with it, what different brushes to use, hair products, or just some nice fun looking stuff to do with my hair. I have long wavy dirty blond hair. I've got a side swept bang and have razor cut layers. I have no idea what to do with it! I've been using frutis body busting shampoo and conditioner. Am I using the right stuff? What can I do with my hair? I've also been told that curtain kinds of brushes can do different things with your hair, I don't understand that. Your answers will be well appreciated! Thank you!

Answer
Let your hair grow longer. You have tons more options with longer hair. I can style mine 7 different ways a week, takes 2-10 mins. I've posted 49 in 20 months. Medium wavy or straight long hair, can be done with my hairstyles.

Brushes can help manipulate the hair, & blow dryer, but I've not done that. You can style your hair anyway you want, if they've been set using plastic curlers.

HOW TO STYLE LONG HAIR:
Dress up an easy down day with a bow.
Try the trendy wrap-around braid with bangs.
Make your hair and accessory with a huge topknot.
Scrunch with a texturizing spray for a beach-y look.
Soften up a work blazer with a sweet side part.
Use a round brush for a full-of-body blowout.
Rough up a side pony with a rugged safari hat.
Try a classic French braid, coil to the side.
Embrace fluffy curls - the bigger, the better!
Do Duchess Catherine brown (the new blond).
Disguise grow-out bangs with a single braid.
If you dare: shaved sides are having a moment.
Do a Farrah-style flip, any face shape.
Whip up a Rapunzelesque rope braid.
Days-old hair? Do a double deck pony.
Rock an easy side braid for a weekend look. Add Wafarer-style specs and a red0hot lip. Fierce!

Your hair is envy from us stick straight haired girls! If you know how to care for your hair type, you won't have this problem. Melina Kanakaredes, Keri Russell are examples who has hair like yours and they've got beautiful wavy hair. Google them.
Shampoo. Condition. Towel dry, scrunch with gel like Samy, or hand lotion, blow-dry using a diffuser briefly, tousle the hair, finger comb, shake your head & you're good to go. If you don't have a diffuser, use a blow heat dryer on low for 5 mins. Give it a final rinse with carbonated or sparkling water. Sparkling water reduces frizz because of its low pH level. This is a good treatment if you often let your curls air-dry because it will help to eliminate the frizz caused by humidity.
When you wake up, instead of shampooing again, keep a bottled water filled with water/conditioner and spray on your hair. Scrunch, finger comb and you're good to go! Google Haley Rinehart - American Idol she's got long beautiful curly hair! When my hair was permed in the 80's, my hair looked like hers. Look @ my hair now.

In a pinch lip balm can double as hair wax to add definition and get rid of hairline frizz.

One method to make it look fuller, add body, tame the curls, bouncier, thicker, SEXIER, softer & shinier hair is to set your hair with plastic curlers (not Velcro) after you towel dry, you'll end up with uniform balance of curls. Blow dry briefly while curling them in curlers. Take them out, and finger comb to style. Used by the best hair color models, and the fashion industry, like Victoria Secret Fashion Show Dec. 2009, 2010, & 2011, America's Next Top Models, EXPRESS, Toddlers & Tiaras, Dance Moms, Dancing with the Stars, even used on Oprah's hair . . . . and continued to be used today where salons care about pampering your hair. When you see hair on TV a hair color commercial, they're not done by curling or straightening tools. Hair that shines like that and feels like hair, not hay, has to be done by the best hair tools available w/out damaging to the hair. When you take the curlers out, finger comb to style or lightly brush. Tousle the hair up. or shake your hair. You can use large, medium or small curlers, that depends on the length of your hair. Think of JLo's hair, she was voted as the Sexiest Woman by People magazine and Glamour's Woman of the Year 2011.

Anyone know of any cool hairstyles for fine straight hair?

Someone

Links of pictures would be nice.

Answer
all hairstyles for fine straight hair should be cut so that the hairs potential for movement and body is maximized. fine hair should not be too long because it will weigh itself down. the maximum length should be a few inches past the shoulders.

layers are the best option for fine straight hair. try to add some long layers to the last few inches of your hair. the best way to create layers is using texturizing scissors.

to create volume, use a volumizing shampoo and a very light conditioner. you can also volumizing mousses or texturizing sprays. also try and flip your head upside-down while blow drying. as a result, you will have an easy but chic hairstyle for fine hair.

i would suggest a cute bob:

What are some good medium length hairstyles for straight, fine hair?

Autumn

My hair skims the tops of my shoulders in front and is a little longer in back, and I have long bangs. I used to have layers but they are mostly grown out. I really don't want it any shorter, or not very much shorter than what it is now. I'm thinking about getting some layers again, but not sure, because it would be done by someone who has never cut my hair before. I'm always a little nervous that they're not going to cut it the way I like. I've tried to find pictures I like, but the one time I did fine one I love, I lost the pic.
= ( Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I'll be getting my bangs trimmed in the next couple of weeks, and if I had a picture of a hairstyle I like, would get the rest trimmed, too.

Answer
let me think about that!
will edit this later... give me a day or two if you can!

eta: okay, I found a few that I like.
see what you think:
both of the ones on this page http://coolwomenhairstyle.com/2011/08/choose-medium-hair-styles-fine-hair.html

And this one's nice, but personally, I would have the bangs maybe 1/2" longer.

why not call the beauty college ahead of time and request a senior student?
good luck. I hope you like whatever you decide on.

Good OPI nail polish colors?

bajinks so

what is a good color for a tannish skin tone dark brown hair and dark brown eyes?

Answer
I have two personal favorites and I look exactly as you described. My first is called Miami Beet (lol get it?). It's a dark red color in no light, but once it's in the sun it's a nice magenta, red, pink-ish color which looks like beets I guess but not in a weird way. My second is Planks A Lot (they have such creative names). It's a lavender, bright, purple color which looks great on your skin tone. Hope this helps!

How to make hair thicker?

Ariella

Ive had thin hair for as long as i can remember. i really want thick, long luscious hair. i know its very important not to take a shower everyday, but i absolutely have to otherwise my hair will get way too oily because its so thin. pleaaase help.

Answer
START IN THE SHOWER
Go sulfate free. Overwashing can dry out your hair, so the less you shampoo, the more hydrated it will be and the longer it will grow without breaking. When you do shampoo, consider a sulfate-free formula; they often contain less harsh detergents, or none at all, and therefore help preserve your hair's natural oils. We like L'Oréal Paris EverPure Moisture Shampoo ($6.99). While lathering, remember that "shampoo is meant to remove product buildup and oil from the scalp, not the hair fiber," says Paradi Mirmirani, faculty member of the American Academy of Dermatology. Between washes, try Oribe Hair Care Dry Texturizing Spray ($39) to absorb oil at your roots and keep locks looking clean.

Stimulate your scalp. When you massage your scalp with shampoos containing peppermint or eucalyptus oil, you'll feel a tingling sensation. This helps increase circulation and blood flow to your follicles, boosting growth. Try John Frieda Root Awakening Strength Restoring Shampoo ($6.49) and Malin + Goetz Peppermint Hair Shampoo ($20). "Prior to washing, massage your scalp for 30 seconds," says New York and London trichologist Philip Kingsley. In one year, your hair can grow an extra inch, he says. Another option is a botanical leave-in treatment like Leonor Greyl Complexe Energisant ($54), which claims to stimulate hair growth when applied to clean roots two to three times per week.

Condition, condition, condition. When your hair is well hydrated, it is less likely to dry out and split, so use a conditioner even on the days when you skip shampoo. Your hair should be treated gently, like a delicate fabric, but it also needs to be regularly nourished, says hairstylist Oribe of the Oribe Salon in Miami Beach. Boston dermatologist Ranella Hirsch recommends applying a deep-conditioning product at least once a week. We suggest Kérastase Nutritive Masque Nutri-Thermique ($60).

STYLE WITH TLC
Brushers beware. If you're not careful, your hairbrush can actually do more harm than good. Ripping through wet tangles creates split ends, so try gently running a wide-tooth plastic comb like the version from Sephora ($4) from roots to ends. "When blow-drying with a round brush," says Kingsley, "don't pull too hard or you can break and pull out your hair." When you're not styling, avoid a brush altogether. "Brushing 100 strokes a day is completely old-fashioned and not a good idea," he adds.

Stop sizzling. Applying hot tools directly to your hair can fry the cuticle, so coat wet locks with a creamy moisturizing product for protection. We like Tresemmé Anti-Frizz Secret Smoothing Crème ($4.49). The best tools to prevent heat damage are ionic dryers and ceramic irons with uniformly heated plates (so you don't have to go over the same section more than once). Try the Sultra Laser Straight & Smooth one-inch iron ($145). For waves, hot rollers can be gentler than curling irons.

INSIDE THE SALON
Steer clear of scissors. Contrary to what some stylists say, haircuts don't stimulate growth. "If you're trying to grow your hair, do not cut the length, no matter how fried it is," says Josh. Instead, ask for your ends to be trimmed. For a style change, "short, blunt bangs will make your hair look longer, because the jump is so dramatic."

Restore with keratin. Go for a keratin treatment every eight weeks while growing out your hair, says Oribe. It smooths out the texture so there's less need for hot tools or dryers. Also, by coating hair with a protective layer, the treatments help protect colored or chemically straightened hair from further damage. For at-home keratin products, try Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi Wild Ginger line (from $16.95).

MONITOR YOUR HEALTH
Consider a supplement. For a boost, supplements like Viviscal ($49.99) "help reduce breakage and increase hydration, which is crucial to the growing process," says James Murphy, CEO of Lifes2good, which distributes Viviscal. The main ingredients are a blend of marine proteins derived from four types of fish rich in protein and amino acids. Josh has encouraged clients including celebs like Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz, and Hilary Swank to try these supplements for years. "You take one in the morning and evening, and in two months your hair growth will kick in at an accelerated rate," he claims. Some derms also suggest taking a multivitamin with biotin and a fish-oil pill to make your hair stronger. We like Functionalab 08 Hair, Skin & Nails ($95).

Check your meds. Did you know that some birth-control pills can cause hair thinning? Although it's typically not a direct cause and effect, "any changes in a woman's hormonal situation can yield hair loss," says Hirsch. Check with your doctor if you're concerned.

Civil War hairstyles for women?

fort worth

I know what the Civil War hairstyle is supposed to look for women and how you're supposed to fix it, but for the life of me, I can't get it right.

I part my hair down the middle. Twist it at the sides. Pinned some hair rats underneath (at the sides), put my hair over the rats, and then put my hair in my bun. However, my hair keeps slipping down at the sides and you can see the rat underneath.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

By the way, my hair is long enough for me to sit on it, so it can be a little difficult to manage.

Answer
My hair is not quite that long but when I want to wear it up this is how I do it.

1. Section your hair into 5 sections, 1 on the top, 1 on each side, 1 on the lower section of hair in the back and the last section goes into a ponytail at the upper part of the back.

2. This depends upon where you wear your rat, but I wear mine in the lower back part of my hair and this creates a Gibson look, poufy in the back. Tease it first. Pin it down with bobby pins.

3. I then tease and roll the top section backwards with your fingers to create a poufy looking top section, not flat.

4. I then do basically the same with each side and pin it down with bobby pins

5. You then will have only the ponytail to work with and you can do it in curls, a beehive or any style that appeals to you.

You might think this is a lot of work and it is, however, it will stay put for several days without having to be restyled. By sectioning your hair it is much easier to work with. With each step it will stay up better if the section is rolled in the direction you want and pinned down tightly. By the way, why do you want your hair styled like this, I do mine this way because our church does not believe women should but their hair based upon the 11th chapter of 1 Corinthians as the apostle Paul taught. If you need more help please feel free to contact me and I am more than willing to help.

Answer
I recommend going to a Japanese hair salon.
There 're so many in London and even some in smaller cities.
They should know how to make those styles.

I think caucasian women's hair is nicer though?
Japanese hair is normally thicker and harder.

How can I get my hair to grow faster?

parrishhhx

My hair is a little longer then my collarbone and I want it to be where my boobs are by the time school starts. Help?

Answer
Unless your hair grows really fast, it won't be down there that fast! You can brush it 500 times!Pick out 5 sections out of your hair, put 4 of them in clips then brush that section 100 x's, do that with all 5 sections,or you could take Vitamin A,D,E, these 3 vitamins are good for bones, teeth, hair. I'm sorry that's all I know to do, except you could buy extenders to fit in your hair for your hair to look long, you can get them in any department store, that sells wigs, or a beauty shop, but they are expensive, you would have to get the beautician to match it to your original color, and she will show how to put them on, and in.

how can i mkae my hair like this?

http://www.weddingbee.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/z106941.jpg

Answer
First, it depends on what color your hair is. Is it brown to dark brown/black? Are you brunette like your avavtar?

From what I can see from the pic, there is a long, dark blonde hair (on the model) and a wig on top and clip on hair for fullness wither coming from the back or clipped onto the sides.
The clip on hair extenders can cost anywhere from $40 to $200. The hair piece on top could be connected, I can't tell.

So, to start with you have to dye (bleach first) to get the right tone for your your skin tone. Next, you need to acquire the wig/ hair piece/ clip extensions.

This is the wedding page for the hair extensions., etc.

Long blond hair: cut/style advice? (photo)?

hello

I'm getting my hair done Friday, and I want to know what you think would look best as far as a cut goes. I want to keep the length, but I don't know what to do as far as bangs/no bangs/layers go. Right now, my shortest layer/bang is 3 inches below my chin. Thoughts, suggestions regarding my face shape? I want a change, but nothing too drastic. I just feel like my hair has no "flavor" haha.

Any additional suggestions regarding a more drastic cut or color would be appreciated as well! I need a change!

My hair is naturally straight, fine, but thick.
