Hair Color!?

Heather

I'm natually a mousy blonde (currently have hight lights and a few low lights), icy blue eyes, and very fair skin. I was thinking about dying my hair brown. Would this color look to dark? Can anyone include any pictures of somebody with brown hair, fair skin, and blue eyes??? Thanks!

Answer
I don't think it's possible to include pictures in these answers, but I've provided some links to pictures. :)

Whether it will "look too dark" or not really depends on your preference! It is your hair, after all! :) Such a look WILL get you noticed, though! It isn't subtle.

Blue-eyed brunettes look incredibly striking. Cool ash browns complement a cool complexion due to the dramatic contrast between pale neutral skin and very dark hair. Both blue and grey eyes gain intensity.

Darker colours have the most potent light reflecting qualities and so work well with bobs and long styles as they emphasise sleekness.

Cool brunette shades are among the most striking, but their lack of warmth can be harsh. Go particularly carefully if you're doing it yourself. Dark-brown shades off the shelf often come out as black.

These are some famous blue-eyed ladies with brown hair:

Cameron Diaz â (a natural blonde, but she sometimes lowlights it to brown.)

Dark brown hair with a cool violet hue gives Cameron's blue eyes a boost and ushers in a sultry new persona.

Sadie Frost â another blue-eyed girl in love with bitter chocolate locks.

Cut to bob length the vibe is one of effortless chic.

Alsou (famous Russian model) â

With her natural raven-black shade, Alsou's pale blue eyes and porcelain complexion are enhanced. Make-up - a pale base and rosy blush - is integral to the look's success.

You may want to try a temporary hair-darkening rinse first, before you go with permanent color. One such: Aveda Black Malva Shampoo (www.aveda.com)

How should I do my hair/makeup/nails/accessories for this dress?

That Girl

Ok so my 8th hgrade prom is coming up and I already have my dress and shoes. Now I just need to know:

How to do my hair
How to do my makeup
What kind of purse I should have
What kind of jewelry
How to do my nails

I kind of blew a lot of money on the dress and shoes and my spa appointment to do my nails was pretty pricey too. I need to know all of he above without spending another fortune. Thanks! :)

Answer
All of those depend on things like your face shape, body type, hair length and color, and skin tone, but I'll give a general idea anyway:

-Hair: Something that makes most people look stunning is a nice bun (especially at non-casual occasions).

It could be tight and precisely styled, like this:

It could be simple and neat, like this:

Or, (and *this is what I would recommend for you*) it could be messy but pretty, like these:

To style your hair, it would be best to go to a good hair dresser and take them one of those pictures (or a different one that like that you find yourself). Most good hair dressers should be able to do those styles for not much money. If you want to do it yourself, there are some video guides on youtube that can help. These are a good place to start, for the messy bun, but feel free to look around for the one that you like the best!:

Doing it yourself can be a bit tricky. You may want to practice a bit before prom to make sure that you definitely do want to do it yourself, and to get the hang of it before the big day.

-Makeup: For prom, do something simple and classic.

You should use only a light mascara and a subtle pink-ish or peachy lip gloss (something that resembles the natural pink of your lips). If your eyes absolutely need more definition, use some eyeliner, also. If your skin tone needs to be evened out, use a concealer and *good* foundation, sparingly (you could even use a tinted moisturizer instead of a foundation.). If you really want eye shadow, use a neutral tone.

Something like in this video could look pretty great! : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlNj2IKGEok&feature=related Remember, like I said though, keep it simple and classic. Using a tinted moisturizer, rather than foundation, can help make your skin look less "cake-y".

If you want to go a little more "all out", I think eyes like this would look great with your dress (especially if you have dark hair): http://www.seventeen.com/cm/seventeen/images/FD/RachelBilson-Dimitrios-49576453-mdn.jpg . If you have light hair, though (and light skin), I would use some lighter colors for the eye shadow and blush than she did.

For your purse, jewelry, and nails really just let your personality shine through. So much would go well with this dress and those shoes, that you can really take this opportunity to express your personality. Lots of colors could go amazingly with that dress. Some basics would be white, silver, black, or red. But, a modern young trend would be to use more florescent colors. A florescent yellow, pink, or green, if done right, could make the outfit trendy, unique, and fresh (and could make the whole look be less debutante-ish). Don't make your outfit boring by perfectly paring your jewelry colors with your purse, shoe, and nail colors. But, don't make it clash by being too different, either. Find a balance of matching while keeping it interesting. When in doubt, use silver!

-Jewelry: Let your personality shine through here. The simplest thing to do is a bracelet, stud earrings, and a ring if you really want. With this neckline, I wouldn't bother with a necklace. The basic and most "formal" looking colors to do would be diamond stud, and sliver bracelet/ring. But, really play around with it.

-Nails: Again, it depends on your personal style and the accessories that you choose (so take inspiration from your every day style and coordinate with the rest of your accessories).. Basically, make sure the nails don't clash with anything else in your outfit. A simple classic thing to do would be a white French tip.

-Purse: I wouldn't take a purse at all. If you have things that you absolutely do need to carry with you, though, take a thin, rectangle clutch.

A black clutch could be great, but you could do a unique pattern or a pop of a solid color to liven up your outfit and make it more unique. Pick a color or pattern that you like! That's the main point.

Just make sure that the color/pattern goes well with the makeup. That is where you could run into trouble, with this outfit. Adjust the makeup tones to be lighter or darker to go well with your accessories. Have fun playing with it, before prom, to find what you really like. There are a *lot* of options for this outfit!
