The best hairstyle or an oval face?

Peaches

i want a long hairstyle. i have bangs and i want to keep them. can anyone give me idea's/pic's of an awesome long hairstyle for an oval head shape.

i have a light skin tone and between dark and lights hair if that helps.
DUDE! Piyush G i couldnt even read ur answer! ur NOT a gangster!

Answer
I too have an oval face, and have the same problem. You will definetly need to keep a style that stays long in the front. I went to a salon recently and told her to do whatever she thinks would look right. She gave me a swept bang, long in the front and shorter layers in the back....looks real good....but you MUST MUST MUST keep the long front whatever you do. and the bangs make sure they are swept over to the side.....

layers are GOOD for an oval face by the way....the best thing you can do

hairstyles for oval shape faces?

Brittany

heeey okay 1st i dont know how to upload pics on here so i cant upload my pic ahah :(
2nd i really want a knew look but dont know what suits my face, which is oval. I still want long hair just something different :)
cheers to everyone that helps (: xx

Answer
Oval faces can literally wear any hairstyle!
Mine is oval too, and one day I spent hours browsing the web trying to figure out the "best" style.. But every single site said ovals can pull off anything!
So you could switch up your bangs? Get layers? Or if you have layers get it cut so your hair is straight across.. It looks good.
You can seriously do anything. Find a pic of a celeb you like, and get that cut!

What is the current hairstyle for men?

GP

Don't want to be some outdated fool but not sure what's out there right now?

Answer
You'll look good in anything that suits your face shape, you could even start your own trend. :) Just don't follow someone whose hairstyle looks good on them but doesn't suits you at all. Wouldn't want to wait for the hair to grow out after finding that the trendy hairstyle actually looks ugly.

How should i cut/style my hair?

Alue

I have long, straight hair to my mid-back. Any ideas how i should style it one day or how i should cut it? I do NOT want short hair.

Pictures and/or instrustions would be helpful

Answer
HOW TO STYLE MEDIUM HAIR:
Do a classic side part and keep hair down all day.
Pull back big curls to show off your pretty face, by using headbands.
Flip up the ends, a la Mary Tyler Moore.
Make your undo as unique as your color.
Tease that crown. Smooth, headband, done.
Go for long layers and a natural-looking shade of brown, the girl next doo 'do!
Try an overside Material Girl-inspired bow.
Pony up. Can't go wrong with this simple style.
Give ruby red hair a sophisticated twist front, make a bun on the back.
Tuck two cornrows into a neat little bun.
Tie on a ribbon. Blair Waldorf would approve!
Creat a cutesy side-swept fishtail braid.
Bring on the Technicolor to update a retro look.
Try DIY hair accessories - no rules apply!
Weave ribbon into a braided headband.
Wear a chill beanie and let your hair be.
Mix leave-in conditioner and alcohol-free gel to style springy, crunch-free curls. Wear a fedora hat.
Do you like the movie the Hunger Games? I haven't seen it, but I saw it briefly during their trailer. My hairstyle (for weeks) came from the movie, and have seen them last week during Dancing with the Stars. Dayana Mendoza the Miss Universe, recently on the Apprentice had that same hairstyle, & recently Florence Welch wore her hair during the Met Gala. Google her. Took about 10 mins. to do, use bobby pins to secure the braids to your head. Magazines called that the Goddess look or the Halo crown. I've seen it in The Savages. Kelly Osborne wore it during Fashion Police 10-8-12.
I'm sure NO ONE in you school have done that!

Google: Peopleâs Choice Awards Hair: Helmet Braids Dominate 1-10-13

THINK BIG: The new blowout is all about big, bouncy volume. Start blow-drying hair with a large barrel brush, set in loose pin curls for 10 minutes, then shake out until ends are wavy.
Grunge rock and roll meets retro punk - example Kristen Stewart @ the MTV Award. Sexy, textured and undone hair.
Soft updos and silk scarves at Dolce & Gabbana. The summery hair at Dolce was anchored by beautiful printed scarves that hairstylist Guido Paulo wrapped around textured, pulled-apart updos. He started by rough-drying the models' hair with mousse before pinning it into an updo that was "not really a twist, not really a knot, just exactly how a Sicilian woman would pin her hair up," he said. To keep the headband from looking severe, Paulo left a few centimeters of the hairline exposed, covered the very tops of the ears with the scarf, and tied it on the side.
Messy knots at Marni. The inspiration for this look was Saturday-morning errands. In other words, "a bad ponytail," said hairstylist Paul Hanlon. "Itâs very organic, very realâalmost like a [model] coming in for a fitting." Before blow-drying, he applied Tigi Bed Head Superstar Queen for a Day Thickening Spray to add grip and volume. He created a side part, then swept hair across the forehead and gathered it into a ponytail at the nape of the neck. He split the tail in two, teased both sides, and secured a loop using U-shaped pins. He smoothed down the sides with Elnett to refine it a bit.

HOW I STYLED MY HAIR IN HS with past the shoulder length to long hair?
My hair cut was below my boobs, until I grad. from HS it went down to my waist. I have various styles for my hair, didn't have bangs then.

1. I parted them in the middle, had two baby pony tails right where the top of my ears, and they fall to the front, while the rest of my hair hang loose on the back. I also curled the ends under, using plastic curlers (when I go to sleep).

2. Other times, I braided my hair after they're washed, so they're curly for days! I have about 6 sections that was braided so the curls are tighter. In the morning, when I take the braids out, finger comb so they don't get frizzy.

3. Do the Pocahantas bun. Divide your hair vertically in 2. Coil the top section, using bobby pins. Let the other bottom half loose.

4. Add hairsticks to your bun, instead.

5. Coil the top, coil the bottom section.

6. Braid the top coil, bun it. Let the rest fall out.

7. Add hair sticks to the braided bun.

I can do 7 different styles per week (even now). The idea is to experiment, practice the night before, so you can easily do them by morning. Takes me 2-10 mins. to style my knee length hair. I've posted 98 on Facebook.

Why do girls hate cutting their hair?

Annie

I mean like, I really want short hair (boy cut), I already check my face and it both look nice with long or short, but my mom doesn't allow me to cut it. I really hate it! It annoys me when I'm in my soccer training! Even if I tie my hair to ponytail it's still wagging on my head, even on my eyes! It's making me losing concentrate! Why does girls always cry if their dad or mom cut their hair! I never even care about "longhair is beautiful" What I care about is my soccer game! And if I lose It'll ruin the rest of my life! And how do you anticipate this?
@myfavoritelucy : stop being offensive! I really hate rude people. Who cares for seeking! And I'm at the right site of my country, UK! Not all people are very good at speaking!

What are some popular Russian hairstyles for women?

Prankrgrl

Answer
If to speak about haircuts, the most popular in Russia for long hair is step hairstyle (also called "lesenka" - "ladder") Examples here:
http://miss.0-ua.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/melirovanie11.jpg
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtxqpeqIAJqr0QMZpiMudGOpkfJ4C3UOYRV3fWWpr4sibo28DTSTDWVMje1Y6YF_23Fo4fFi9iGSS2uTg88E-nqAbkcaKpgljvTSU_3WrkEA4UjGLr1Yl6fJG-z0N61zjKPyTA806RyhTx/s1600/Hairstyles+for+Longer+Hair.jpg

For medium length it is a cut called "kare" (stress on e) - kind of bob hairstyle. Classic variant:
http://casual-info.ru/images/Pict/coiff_p.jpg

For short hare and for women of older age its something like this:
http://haircutdo.ru/pictures/15/1.jpg

If to speak about hair-dresses, most Russian girls have long hair and wear it straight or sometimes make curls. They also make ponytails, use elastic bands and hairpins:
http://public.starlook.ru/temp/article/masha/pricheski/5.jpg

Different kinds of braids, which are traditional Slavic hairstyle, are also very popular here.

Some of such braids can be very intricate

For weddings or other celebrations Russian women like to take their hair up

What hairstyles make the face look fatter?

coolPINKIS

i need to know some certain hairstyles which help to fatten the face and make it look chubbier, im not sure what my face shape is..sometimes it appears to be oval but sometimes it looks thin..how can i know my face shape so that i can pick a better hairstyle?

Answer
Your face is probably oblong. The best thing to do to give width is to add horizontal lines. You can do this by adding tons of volume to the hair on the sides of your face (but not on top!), like by teasing or with curls. Straight across bangs can be a great idea for some oblong faces. Basically, the last thing you want is long, straight, bang-less hair. Good luck :)

is this a good hairstyle for a guy with fat face?

MaydayMayd

not a very very fat face, but a fat face, fatter then the guy in the picture provided.

Heres the pic of the hairstyle->

Should i cut my hair that short?
and for you stylists out there, how long do u think the sides are? 21/2? 3? and how do i tell the stylist to cut the top to make it textured like that?
Thanks.
:)

Answer
The guy in the photo has an oval face. If you mean that you have a round face, then this style will work. The general guideline with a round face is to have the hair close on the sides and off the forehead with at least a little height at the front hairline. A little more height than he has would be better for a round face. The close sides and height at the front hairline will narrow and lengthen the face. His sides are not cut with a clipper guard as they are similarly textured to the top. Honestly, I think a regular ivy league(long crew cut) or crew cut looks better and is definitely a lot easier to groom. It is going to be difficult to find a stylist who is going to be able to do a good job of duplicating his texture. Here is a feather crew with texturizing of only the outer tips of the hair:
http://e.imagehost.org/0669/crew_cut2513096779_1.jpg
same type of crew cut:
http://www.gstatic.com/hostedimg/5ecca837ce3973fb_large
another feather crew:

crew cut with same texturizing as your photo but only on the top:

ivy league:

Essential barbering knowledge:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Crew_cut#Clippers.2C_Blades_and_Guards
Grooming any of the short pomp(pompadour) styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same and takes about a minute or two.
1) Towel dry hair.
2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.
3)Transfer wax to palms.
4) Smooth palms over hair.
5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front.
Whichever style you decide on, be sure to take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber. If you need additional photos of any of the styles discussed above, let me know.
Good Luck!

Cute trendy first day of school outfit for middle school?

Lovely&Mag

I really need ideas for my first day of middle school my style is like glamour preppy and girly tomboy can you give me some outfit ideas pictures or something thank you.

Answer
Hey girlie! Being an 8th grader myself Ive got some good input on what to wear! One big tip is do NOT go overboard with what they call "high-fashion" or things that pretty much fresh off the runway, people will look at it as weird, and i made that mistake a couple of times!

Some really good stores for jr. high/ middle school is for SURE hollister (one of my favorites), and possibly abercrombie, but i prefer hollister because its not overboard prep. an amazing store for accessories is no doubt forever 21, i get all my rings, necklaces, earrings, bacelets and hair stuff there! and its cheap, not to mention totally trendy! Try out some big necklaces this year, the really freshen up an outfit!

Now for jeans, hollister, anchor blue, and pacsun have my favorites! when it comes to demin steer clear of places like forever 21 or charlotte russe, you want your demin to be better quality because its what you'ss wear the most! I would own 3 pair minimum [ light wash, mid wash, and dark wash] and they should be skinny jeans, they go with the most and middle-school appropriate! Don't be scared to play with belts in fun colors/prints!

And shorts are pretty similar... light, med, and dark wash, but i personally like cuffed shorts that are SLIGHTLY destroyed, because it they are over torn, it can destroy the fresh, clean vibe you want! also, i like a cute pair of white shorts!! :D but steer clear of bermudas my friend, go with normal "shorter" shorts. and NEVER... i repeat NEVERRR wear ugg boots or ANY tall boots with shorts, or you will most likely be labeled as a slut! so make sure you have about 4 pairs of shorts handy in your closet... more if youd like to!

Skirts are cuute if they are worn in moderation and worn correctly! Try a bubble skirt with a black waist strap in a nice bright color with a white v-neck or tank top! adorable! and a cute pair of sandals!! and one of those big necklaces i was talking about! :D
Pretty much same goes for dressess... all in moderation!

SHOES! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 first off, get 2 or 3 pairs of vans, i know they might be a but pricey but they last a long time and everyone has them (in a good way) they go with almost everything! Get a pair thats either white, black, or grey (think neutrals) and a couple more thatb are more fun... like a bright color, and a checkered one or something! I have black, white, hot pink, and a bright aqua blue color, you can also get them in slip ons!
And get flats! they go with so many things and they give an outfit and girly, glam vibe! plus they dont have to be uber expensive! get like 4 pair, black should be one for sure!, then you can get something like silver or white, then get a couple fun colors or prints you feel you would wear! i have an adorable pair of cheetah print flats from AE that i LOVE!
And have a few cute pairs of flat sandals, in cute colors with designs of ruffles and a couple solid pairs! (good for skirts and dresses!)
And try to avoid heels in middleschool, people might think youre showing off or something!

For tops, get alot of things you can mix and match!! Like a combo of colorful" v-necks, tanks, camis, and tube tops.... you can mix and match all of these and play around with the colors! but always make sure you have basic black/white as well as colors! that all goes great with any bottoms and some cute accessories!
as far as tops, i like to have:

4 v-necks
4 camis
2 tube tops
5 tank tops
3-5 babydoll tops
2 or 3 other kinds of tops
2 long sleeve/ sweater type tops/

Jackets: Have at least 1 or 2 cute zip ups (Victorias Secret pink for sure!) and same amount of long carigans, for cardigans, check american eagle and aeropostale!

Heres some examples of outfit I would personally wear to jr. high:
http://www.polyvore.com/school_style/set?id=21650398

And instead of having one backpack, try carrying your books in a tote bag that corresponds with your outfit :]

Best of luck!
<3 Brooke

What is the best hair style for a girl with rounded face?

Queenie

I am a teenage girl in high school and I still look like an elementary student because I have a baby face due to my rounded-shaped face. What do you think is the best hair style for me to look like more of a teenage girl?

Currently, my hair style is plain straight.

Answer
â¢Long hair is gorgeous on round faces because it lengthens the face. If you have a round face, your best cuts will fall a few inches below the chin and longer.
â¢Ask your stylist to cut in long layers with the shortest layer hitting at your earlobe or even lower. Short layers make a hairstyle appear dated and also add body to hair, which will make a round face appear rounder. You don't want that.
â¢Gentle waves deflect the roundness of the face, so if you have natural wave in your hair (as most women do), allow your hair to do its natural "thing." Scrunch hair as it dries so it retains some of its wave or help along the wave by wrapping hair around the barrel of a large curling iron as Biel's stylist did here.
Four tips to get this hairstyle: 1.You'll need a great curling iron to achieve this look even if you have wavy or curly hair. See my list of best curling irons.
2.See "The Perfect Haircut on All Face Shapes" for more on rules for layering hair.
3.To get this look see "The Secret to Sexy, Beachy Waves"
4.More flattering shoulder-length hairstyles

How can a highschool guy gel/spike/style his hair so he can attract girls?

Evan

I recently got my hair cut so that it can be styled easily and i'm looking for some hot styles to get girls. (For straight, Brown hair)

Answer
Most girls prefer when guys wear easy to groom medium to short guy's regular styles that fully suit; such styles include a regular haircut and the short pomp(pompadour) styles-crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut. The short pomp styles spike readily with a tiny bit of control wax. Hair grows at an average rate of 1/8" per week. The best way to describe a style to a barber is with a photo.

short crew cut:
http://www.gstatic.com/hostedimg/dfbf10e504bce8a1_large
Some barbers consider that all crew cuts should have a flat top, so it is best to not rely on words alone for even a widely recognized style like a crew cut.
flat top crew cut:

Search the internet for images of football(soccer)star Lukas Podolski for examples of ivy league and crew cut styles. A minute dab of control wax aka butch wax will keep the hair looking well groomed at crew cut and ivy league length. A butch comb also helps with grooming the short pomp styles- the small, flat, plastic, oval, pocket brushes that one finger fits through and barbers sell for about a dollar. A boar bristle military brush is usually available for a few dollars and while too large for a guy to carry in his pocket, is nice to have at home.

HAIR COLOUR question.........?

Q. I have recently coloured my hair in Burgundy shade. (plz tell all three.)

Q1) Is it fine to apply hair-colours to hair or does it Damages one's hair type?

Q2) After how much time should the Second Application of colour should be done?

Q3) Which is the best Company of hair colour products?
Is Loreal good ?

Thanks.
Charlllpops: Thanks. U said that colour applied at home is different from that of salon? Why?

Answer
1. Permanent colours contain peroxide and so will damage your hair, and affect your natural hair colour. The more you apply them, the more your hair becomes damaged. So then the colour fades quicker and you need to reapply it. Causing more damage. Some semi-permanent colours, on the other hand, actually condition your hair and can make it feel in much better condition.

2. About six weeks is average. Don't apply permanent colours too often, as I said, they are damaging to your hair. Instead of applying a full head of colour, it's better to just apply it to your regrowth area, and then comb it through for the last fifteen minutes of development. So, for example, if your colour should be on for 45 minutes, leave it on the roots for 30 minutes and then comb it through your hair and leave for another 15 minutes. Semi permanent colours can be applied as often as you want but can't be used to lighten your hair.

3. L'Oreal are an old 'colour house' and so yes, they are good. They have been producing colours for years and so know what they are doing. Having said that, no box colour you apply at home will ever match up to the colours a hairdresser uses.

hair color question?

scream13xx

okay
my hair is naturally light brownish but i've had my hair dyed black for about 5 months now
and my mom said i can't dye my hair again until ALL the color is out, but the color wont come out when i shower anymore.

so is there anyway to get the color out quicker?? like some type of shampoo?

Answer
For the color to be completely out of your hair you will need to grow it out and cut it off. However, you can lighten the color a bit (depends mostly on what product you used to color it in the first place). Using a clarifying shampoo may help. Mixing baking soda and water into a paste and letting it sit on your hair for about 15 minutes (use a plastic cap and heat if possible) will help the hair release some color.

LADIES: Will you help me choose a trendy hairstyle ?

Handsome_L

http://www.flickr.com/photos/39665826@N07/7054322739/in/photostream

I am getting bored with my face, and wonder if a change will do good. To start with I plan to have a new hairstyle- something more modern and trendy. Perhaps a bit short with layers. Can you suggest some smart and trendy hairstyles ?

Then a big step - getting my moush off. Do you think it would be a good thing to try a clean shaven look ?

Answer
Clean and shaven will make you much more put together and handsome! You look alot like my uncle did:)
A nice, short hairstyle Id say would look great is something you could run your hands through. Try to cut it as short as you can without a buzz or shaven. Dont be aftraid of having a bit of a short shag, just dont let anything fall past your face, and have a closer cut to your neck.
Should look very nice
Good luck!

What are non-trendy hairstyles for teen girls?

Q. i don't like today's hairstyles :p.

Answer
I agree :D

*Wavy/curly long natural hair
*super-short crops
*weird messy bobs and asymmetrical cuts
*brightly colored hair! no black or blonde, try banana yellow, turquoise, etc.
*hugely back combed/hawked hair.
*dreads!
*1930's-50's inspired haircuts. Soft curls, pinned up hair, Marilyn Monroe-style bobs.
*Pin-up girl haircuts as well. Soft, soft, natural blacks or blondes with super-short fringes, flipped out at the end.
*Hippy-chic cuts. These are my favorite! Weird braids in your hair, random dreads in odd places, natural brown colors, shiny, soft, wavy and touchable.

Basically go for anything that's not scene, black, bleach-blonde, obviously dyed, sleekly bobbed or straightened, obviously highlighted, etc. It's easy to take inspiration from old hairstyles, such as a HUGE mound of creamy pink Marie Antoinette hair piled on top of your head. Maybe stick a butterfly or fake bird in there as well. Did you know the french used tinted powders to color their hair? Blue was a favorite as was pink. Candy hair! Today, though, brands like Manic Panic and Special Effects make semi-permanent vegetable dyes in crazy colors like Purple Haze, Candy Apple Red, and Atomic Turquoise. My personal favorite is a very light baby-blue, which would look insanely awesome if you had long, gently curling hair! awesome :O

Of course, you might not be as mad as I am. You can always just let it grow long and natural and put it up in a topknot or ballerina-style messy bun. Sticking some weird ornaments, extensions, flowers or headbands in there couldn't hurt, either.

Anyhow good luck! I wish I had any hair to play with :( in the good nature of charity I shaved my head a few months ago, and it's just reached crop-stage now. Boring. Glittery faux-hawks are my only option.

Hairstyle for square/oval face?

Dew

Hi, I'm 19 years old, but I look 16-17ish. I'm asian (Indian-subcontinental) so I have a tanned complexion. My face is fairly square, slightly oval-ish. I have natural black hair but currently dyed very dark purple, and spiky towards the front. I'm getting tired of it. My hair is pretty thick and it's hard to maintain a clean spiky look because it get muddled easily. If I cut it any shorter it doesn't stand out much. I use L'oreal texturising fibre glue gel. However I don't use a hair straightener or blow dryer. Frankly I'm lacking ideas and the know-how.

So I need advice for suitable hairstyles, if possible with pictures. Please give me tips how I can maintain the hairstyle on my own, what products I should use, should I dye it a different colour, etc. I'm from London, UK, so if you can please recommend a good salon.

Thanks.

what is the best hairstyle for a square face?

I hair straight asian hair. I would like it shoulder length and straight. My hair won't keep a curl anyways. Pictures would be helpful. Thanks.

SQUARE FACE
(straight hairline; angular jaw; wide face)
Your hairstyle should work to soften the sharp angle of your jawline and minimize a squared-off brow look. Hairstyles that emphasize the cheekbones mid-line of the face are most flattering, so short layers (cut into longer hair) that swing foreward onto cheekbones will look great. Bangs and waves at the temple also soften the square of your face. Hair length is best about one inch below the chin, or extending to shoulder length, to reduce and soften the squareness of your jaw. Hair worn on the forehead is always perfect for you, as long as it is wispy or fringed. Never wear straight bangs. Hair turned under at the bottom also will narrow the width of the jaw. Styles in loose curls and waves add extra dimension to the square face in a good way. Styles that round out your hair can decrease the appearance of a square face shape, so adding curl, angled or wispy bangs, and a few wisps on the cheek area will all help. A cut that allows for some height is also a good idea. Wear a side part as opposed to a center part.

Hair styles for neck length hair?

Fateme

I'm 14 years old and my hair is neck length hair and puffy and wavy. I don't know what to do with it. I also have bangs. Ponytails won't help and I've tried bun and I don't want to straighten my hair with heat.
I don't like bunchies, something more classy?

Answer
I hardly do a ponytail on my hair, unless it's the one on my photo!

How to make hair thicker?

Ariella

Ive had thin hair for as long as i can remember. i really want thick, long luscious hair. i know its very important not to take a shower everyday, but i absolutely have to otherwise my hair will get way too oily because its so thin. pleaaase help.

Answer
START IN THE SHOWER
Go sulfate free. Overwashing can dry out your hair, so the less you shampoo, the more hydrated it will be and the longer it will grow without breaking. When you do shampoo, consider a sulfate-free formula; they often contain less harsh detergents, or none at all, and therefore help preserve your hair's natural oils. We like L'Oréal Paris EverPure Moisture Shampoo ($6.99). While lathering, remember that "shampoo is meant to remove product buildup and oil from the scalp, not the hair fiber," says Paradi Mirmirani, faculty member of the American Academy of Dermatology. Between washes, try Oribe Hair Care Dry Texturizing Spray ($39) to absorb oil at your roots and keep locks looking clean.

Stimulate your scalp. When you massage your scalp with shampoos containing peppermint or eucalyptus oil, you'll feel a tingling sensation. This helps increase circulation and blood flow to your follicles, boosting growth. Try John Frieda Root Awakening Strength Restoring Shampoo ($6.49) and Malin + Goetz Peppermint Hair Shampoo ($20). "Prior to washing, massage your scalp for 30 seconds," says New York and London trichologist Philip Kingsley. In one year, your hair can grow an extra inch, he says. Another option is a botanical leave-in treatment like Leonor Greyl Complexe Energisant ($54), which claims to stimulate hair growth when applied to clean roots two to three times per week.

Condition, condition, condition. When your hair is well hydrated, it is less likely to dry out and split, so use a conditioner even on the days when you skip shampoo. Your hair should be treated gently, like a delicate fabric, but it also needs to be regularly nourished, says hairstylist Oribe of the Oribe Salon in Miami Beach. Boston dermatologist Ranella Hirsch recommends applying a deep-conditioning product at least once a week. We suggest Kérastase Nutritive Masque Nutri-Thermique ($60).

STYLE WITH TLC
Brushers beware. If you're not careful, your hairbrush can actually do more harm than good. Ripping through wet tangles creates split ends, so try gently running a wide-tooth plastic comb like the version from Sephora ($4) from roots to ends. "When blow-drying with a round brush," says Kingsley, "don't pull too hard or you can break and pull out your hair." When you're not styling, avoid a brush altogether. "Brushing 100 strokes a day is completely old-fashioned and not a good idea," he adds.

Stop sizzling. Applying hot tools directly to your hair can fry the cuticle, so coat wet locks with a creamy moisturizing product for protection. We like Tresemmé Anti-Frizz Secret Smoothing Crème ($4.49). The best tools to prevent heat damage are ionic dryers and ceramic irons with uniformly heated plates (so you don't have to go over the same section more than once). Try the Sultra Laser Straight & Smooth one-inch iron ($145). For waves, hot rollers can be gentler than curling irons.

INSIDE THE SALON
Steer clear of scissors. Contrary to what some stylists say, haircuts don't stimulate growth. "If you're trying to grow your hair, do not cut the length, no matter how fried it is," says Josh. Instead, ask for your ends to be trimmed. For a style change, "short, blunt bangs will make your hair look longer, because the jump is so dramatic."

Restore with keratin. Go for a keratin treatment every eight weeks while growing out your hair, says Oribe. It smooths out the texture so there's less need for hot tools or dryers. Also, by coating hair with a protective layer, the treatments help protect colored or chemically straightened hair from further damage. For at-home keratin products, try Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi Wild Ginger line (from $16.95).

MONITOR YOUR HEALTH
Consider a supplement. For a boost, supplements like Viviscal ($49.99) "help reduce breakage and increase hydration, which is crucial to the growing process," says James Murphy, CEO of Lifes2good, which distributes Viviscal. The main ingredients are a blend of marine proteins derived from four types of fish rich in protein and amino acids. Josh has encouraged clients including celebs like Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz, and Hilary Swank to try these supplements for years. "You take one in the morning and evening, and in two months your hair growth will kick in at an accelerated rate," he claims. Some derms also suggest taking a multivitamin with biotin and a fish-oil pill to make your hair stronger. We like Functionalab 08 Hair, Skin & Nails ($95).

Check your meds. Did you know that some birth-control pills can cause hair thinning? Although it's typically not a direct cause and effect, "any changes in a woman's hormonal situation can yield hair loss," says Hirsch. Check with your doctor if you're concerned.

i need some really cool hair styles?

Q. i have curly hair and i need some really good hair styles just to go to school

Answer
Curly Hair Tips
Women that have curly hair know that there can be a price to have long locks. You can experience problems such as split ends, or frizzy dry hair. You may deal with these problems because of genetics or it may be a diet issue, Whatever the cause is, there is always something you can do to make your curls manageable.

Moisturize daily- The reason for frizzy hair is usually due to using the wrong conditioner or not using it often enough. Check the ingredients of your shampoo and conditioner to make sure you are using one that is appropriate for your hair type, and leave it in for at least 3 to 5 minutes before rinsing it out.
Avoid using Heat- Try not to blow dry, use curling irons, or straighten your hair on a daily basis.. Letting your hair air dry is always best, especially when it comes to natural curls.
If you have fine natural curls, blowing your hair with a diffuser will give you a better curl. See video above.
Combing hair- Always use wide toothed comb. If your hair has tangles then use your fingers until your hair has dried. This way you will have less breakage.
Highlights- Try adding highlights around your face to bring out your special feature.
Styling products- Using products made for your natural curls will add shine and definition.
A Good Diet- Eating well by eating enough proteins will add natural sheen to your hair.

Steps1 Wash your hair. Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner since, curly hair tends to get dry, especially if you are using a lot of heat styling.

2 Scrunch your hair and part it to the side. Use a small amount of watered down hair gel (mix the gel with water) or spray gel, then hairspray it up until you know it will hold your curls in. You can also use a leave-in conditioner before-hand to cut some of the crunch from the gel and keep your hair from frizzing. (Curly hair frizzes when it needs moisture.)
Although scrunched, air-dried hair works well, you might want to blow dry if you're in a hurry. You must have a diffuser if you do not want a cloud of frizz. While blow drying, place a section of hair in the bowl and press the bowl to your head. Then turn on the "warm" setting of your blow dryer. Press the cool shot if your head gets too hot. Make sure to turn off the air before you take it away from your head as well. Blow drying like this minimizes frizz.

3 She has wavy/curlyish hair, and straightens her bangs and the under part of her hair.Get some side bangs and straighten them when you wear your hair down. Some scene hairstyles have even bangs that go across the forehead, but if you have curly hair, you want "side tapering bangs". When your hair is curly, pin your bangs to the side with a bow, a butterfly clip, or some other clip.
4Tease the roots of your hair with a fine toothed comb. This will add more flair to your hairstyle.
5 Color it up! Think of a cute color that would compliment your skin tone. Think colors of the rainbow! Red, blue, purple, yellow, orange, etc. Get creative with that. If you have dark hair and don't want to bleach it, look into colored hair extensions.
6 Here is a very good example of a curly hair--scene style.Consider headbands and other clips. It's cute and not very expensive to buy plain hair things and decorate them with random objects. Get creative! Go into the fabrics/craft section of a store and add things like buttons, zipper pulls, ribbons, etc.
7Take it slow and experiment. When getting your hair cut, be careful. Take it slow. Maybe start off with some layers, if that works out, then go back and get some more cuts and colors. Take it slow until you love it.
8 Updo's are good.Wear you hair up every once in a while. This way you wont have to style or damage it at all. Streak it, put it in a ponytail, and clip back your bangs.

Tips When experimenting, choose a day that you don't have much to do in public, because, if your experiment turns out not so hot then you won't have to worry about going somewhere looking like a clown.
Before adding gel or other hair products maybe straighten the front section, or maybe just your bangs.
Go for a scene mullet if you want to but don't get the top part of if cut super short. Make the shorter part start just below your ears and work it's way up a little bit.

im growing my hair out to below my bust before school and i want some cute hair styles for below shoulder length hair...(thats how long my hair is now..)

Answer
Bumpy ponytailMethod 1
Part your hair down the right.
Put your hair behind your ears.
Grasp it with your hand, and gently bring up to the middle of your head.
Secure with bobby pins.
Fasten big bumps with bobby pins (preferably bobby pins the same size. Then show your cute style off!
Method 2
Start with your hair parted its usual way
Take a section of your hair in the front where your hair line is (it needs to be thick but not too thick)
Start to twist it around about 3 times, while bringing it back
Push barely to the front so that it makes a bump about an inch or 2 high
Secure with a clip to the top of your head.
Use a curling iron to make your hair bouncy and fun!

The ScrunchMethod 1
Take a shower or drench hair.
Put hair up in a messy bun
Wait till hair is damp to dry
Take out of the messy bun
Comb hair (Loosely)
Take scrunching moose or gel and grab a piece of hair
Take your hands and scrunch your hands together to scrunch up your hair
Do to your whole head
Method 2
An alternative is to part hair in half, from ear to ear.
scrunch the top half and straighten the bottom half

Messy BunStart by washing your hair or just rinsing it.
Then Brush your hair back, leaving you without a part.
Take small sections of hair and "scrunch" (with gel) sections up to desired height of bun.
Secure with a hair tie and add some mousse.
Make the bun look loose with hair spray and gel.
Tousle with fingers to make more of a messy look.

Side ponytailMake a low or high ponytail on the side of your head, it doesnt matter if its on the right or left side.
Secure with hairtie.
Add a cute bow or hair clip(opt.)!
Come on; what could be cuter. a ribbon!

High and low ponytailsTo make a high ponytail, you first need to make sure your hair is smooth and brushed. Brush your hair back so there isn't a part and then brush all your hair toward the point on your head which you want it to be. Make sure it looks smooth and neat, then secure it with an elastic.
To make a low ponytail, follow the same directions for high ponytail but instead secure to the back of your neck.
Add cute accessorizes(opt.).
Braiding the hair of your low ponytail will give it a romantic feel(opt.).
Crimp or straighten the pony tail(opt.). And you're done!

Half-UpFlip your hair upside-down and part your hair horizontally about a 1/3 away from your hairline.
Brush the ponytail smooth or leave it messy.
Secure with a hair-tie or a hair-clip.

Hair in clipTake a small amount of hair from each side of your head.
Bring these two parts together to the middle of your scalp and secure with a clip or pin.
Brush the remaining hair down and style the rest as you please.

Two UpsMake your hair like you did in the half up hairstyle.
Then instead of leaving the rest combine the hair that was in the half and the rest of the hair and put it in a hair tie, also.
now go show of your hair an have fun! :)<3

The fancier styleTake about a medium piece of hair from the front.
Brush it to take out the tangles.
slick it back but leave a little poof in it.

CLASSIC [Bangs] pinned upTake your SIDE BANGS and brush it smooth. You must have a part that is NOT down the middle for this.
Pull your bangs back.
Now pin them in the place of your choice using a bobby pin or a cute funky clip
Then go off and show your do!

about beauty & style

Answer
Well, I don't know if my choice is justified to you... but this is my choice:

I choose to use only natural bontanically based skin and beauty products. I don't wear a saree. I am currently wearing my hair long, simply because it makes it easier to put it up during this hot weather. And, lastly, I observe a vegetarian lifestyle right now.

The elimination of animal products from my diet and beauty regimine is largely due to the decline in quality of those types of products. Those animals are now pumped with so many chemicals and drugs, it's ridiculous... and all for the sake of an extra buck. I will not let a government ruled by money destroy my general well-being (and force me to rely on a money hungry "health care" system) if I can at all help it.

My clothing and hairstyle choices are made based on a combination of practicality, beauty and modesty. I chose things that flatter the body I have been given. I chose things that are not outrageously priced (just so I can be hip for the two minutes that the article of clothing is "in"). I chose things that allow me to attractive but that, at the same time, preserve those things that I feel are a priviledge for my husband... out of respect to both of us.

So, I hope I answered your question in a way that you were seeking.

I love coloring my hair crazy colors. Right now my hair is for different colors xD all from the rainbow

I go to any salon and get my hair bleached, then apply the dye at home. If you don't want to do that, you can buy the dye separately and bring it with you. Most salons don't cary crazy colors, so you should get them on your own. I recommend colorsilk. It is the mot permanent color you can get, and it isn't frying for your hair like other colors can be.

Where are some hair salons in NYC that will dye your hair for cheap?

Zoe

I want to dye a streak of my hair pink. I already have a blonde streak and my hair is black. Do you know any places in NY that can dye my hair pink for a cheap price?
Or if anyone has dyed their hair a bold color and they had dark hair, can you please tell me how to do it? I tried doing it before but it didn't really work and I'm scared to ruin my hair unless someone who has done it before tells me how they did it. lol thank you so much!

<3 zoe
Yea 20 dollars isn't too bad but I tried dyeing my blonde hair pink, it didn't work out. It turned red and I really want a pink streak in my hair, lol. Last time I spent 25 dollars at this european hair salon but they didn't have pink so I chose blonde and I'm not exactly very happy with it. :)

Answer
Unfortunately, most salons in NYC will not dye your hair for cheap. Most salons charge at least $20 for color. Why not just dye your blonde streak pink? Manic Panic has semi-permanent dyes in various shades (including pink of course), so you can dye your hair pink and it can easily wash it out within a few weeks and you'll still have your blonde streak.

Short or Long? Hairstyles for Teenage Girls 2013?

Kimberly

I have medium brown hair and it's naturally wavy and I'm fourteen. For 2013 should I grow it out or cut it short? I've always had my hair about shoulder length and I'm getting tired of it. What's some ways I can style it for 2013? Thanks so much! God Bless!

best hair color for tanned skin?

Q. my color is more like : http://www.toptenz.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/kristin-kreuk.jpg <~ this
and my hair color is : http://www.ultimatelooks.com/evagaborcolors/images/14C-DIRTY-BLONDE2lg.jpg <~ dirty blonde .. and my eyes are light brown wich is more like this : http://i.ehow.com/images/a04/ha/53/apply-makeup-honey-colored-eyes-200X200.jpg wich hair color do u think would look better on me ?

Answer
The hair color in the first picture would look stunning. It is a little darker than your own hair color, but not as dark as Catherine Zeta-Jones' hair (which is beautiful on her).

I would choose a rich but light brown, and choose a cool shade, not a warm one. Very few people can pull off a warm tone of hair color.

Just don't go light blond with tanned skin. People with light blond hair really don't tan too well in real life, and it looks fake (I'm a Swede and a blonde, myself; trust me!).

What's the best hair color for tan skin?

Q. Okay so i've been really wanting to chnage my hair colour lately but i'm scared it might not come out right. I want to dye my hair like a much lighter color... Like golden bronze...
Any suggestions....(:?!
Do you think i should dye my hair golden bronze or no?!
me: ;)

This is the only photo i can find which actually shows my skin color c:

Answer
Have you seen people like "Rita Ora"? Google her! She has tanned skin and is blonde, but can pull it off!!
Also, beyonce has tanned skin, and went golden and she looked amazing!
A black girl from my school went golden and she really suited it!
A change is always nice, go for it but make sure its golden/blonde, not platinum!
Your hair is lovely the now too!

Hairstyles for fine hair?

42296

I'm getting a haircut soon and I don't know what to do with my hair. My hair is straight, and it has layers in it but I'm getting really bored with it. It falls a little past my shoulders, and I definitely do not want short hair. Any hairstyle ideas, for medium length, fine, straight hair?

Answer
Hairstyles that's layered and THIN will only make the hair look thinNER.

There are ways to help manipulate thin hair to look thicker.

One method to make your hair look fuller, add body, bouncier, thicker, more volume, softer & shiny hair is to set your hair with plastic curlers, (not Velcro) you'll end up with uniform balance of curls. Blow dry while curling them in curlers. Take them out, and finger comb, use a brush, give it a good shake all of the above. Your hair will fall nicely, plus you'll ged rid of all the sectioning parts. You'll get the bombshell trifecta: lift at the roots, volume at the sides, and a soft swing. Used by the best hair color models, and the fashion industry, like Victoria Secret Fashion Show Dec. 2009 & 2010, (backstage getting ready) America's Next Top Models, Toddlers & Tiaras, EXPRESS models seen in Glamour magazine Sept. issue, and are continued to be used today where salons care about pampering your hair. Even Oprah uses them! (while she's getting an interview backstage). When you see hair on TV (Dancing with the Stars backstage) a hair color commercial, they're not done by curling or straightening tools. Hair that shines like that and feels like hair, not hay, has to be done by the best hair tools available w/out damaging to the hair. When you take the curlers out, finger comb to style or lightly brush. Tousle the hair up. or shake your hair. You can use large, medium or small curlers, that depends on the length of your hair. Think of JLo's hair, she was voted as the Sexiest Woman by People magazine and Glamour's Woman of the Year 2011.

Google: Imogen Thomas wears rollers in her hair to take out the trash.

You can use this method: Towel dry, even blow dry it 75% dried if your hair is thick, braid your hair in several sections. In the morning, take the braids out, finger comb & you're good to go. Should last for days or until your next shampoo. If you want tighter curls, more sections for each braids. If you want looser curls, less sections, but won't last as long, depending on the weather.

If you want curls at the ends, too, instead of stick straight, curl the ends with plastic curler, support with clips on each side (4 clips total for each curler), and use rubber bands to attach to each V-sides, like perming rods. That way they will stay put when you sleep.

justify your choice of makeup skincare, saree drapping, hairstyle & diet pattern?

diya

about beauty & style

What is an appropiate hairstyle for a 55 yeal old woman?

Terrie

This 55 year old woman is single.

Answer
Whatever she likes and feels most confident in! The idea that only certain lengths or styles are appropriate for older women and everything else is wrong is fast becoming a thing of the past. 50 year olds have been rejecting traditions and assumptions about age and appropriateness all their lives and quite frankly, why should they stop now? Ten years ago they were the first 40 year-olds who rejected the term "middle aged" and refused to replace their jeans, long hair and sleeveless tops with polyester stretch pants, short hair and sleeved shirts. 20 years ago they refused to buy into the notion that once yo turn 30 the best years of fashion and beauty were over and it was time to discard the mascara and dress like a frump. And when they were in their teens and 20 they rejected the idea that certain things were women's work and went out and got careers that when they were kids were considered suitable for men only and paved the way for today's women to follow whatever dreams they have and tore down all the barriers for future generations of women. So don't tell her she needs to get her hair cut, that her color is wrong or anything else!

Hairstyles for thick poofy hair?

jamie

Its brown, wavy, thick and poofy and I would say middle back/bottom of boob length.
Just looking for hairstyles (pics please) on how I can make this mess of a head look decent. btw my age is 18 so please nothing for a 50 year old women.

Answer
Your hair is envy from us stick straight haired girls! If you know how to care for your hair type, you won't have this problem. Melina Kanakaredes is an example who has hair like yours and she's got beautiful wavy hair.

Towel dry, scrunch with gel like Samy, blow-dry using a diffuser briefly, toussle the hair, finger comb, shake your head & you're good to go.

One method to make it look fuller, add body, bouncier, thicker is to set your hair with plastic curlers, you'll end up with uniform balance of curls. Blow dry while curling them in curlers. Take them out, and finger comb to style. Used by the best hair color models, and the fashion industry, like Victoria Secret Fashion Show Dec. 2009, America's Next Top Models and continued to be used today where salons care about pampering your hair. When you see hair on TV a hair color commercial, they're not done by curling or straightening tools. When you take the curlers out, finger comb to style or lightly brush. Tousle the hair up. or shake your hair. You can use large, medium or small curlers, that depends on the length of your hair.
Niecy Nash - Dancing with the Stars recently seen using it backstage, too!
http://abc.go.com/shows/dancing-with-theâ¦

The hair industry is a billion dollar business, their aim is to make tons of profits, and they do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss. Shampoo is meant to clean (Google it), and if they do other things like GROW, they're lying. It's all about marketing to attract more buyers.

BTW: There are many 20-30 year olds who are Victoria Secret models and America's Next Top Models.

If you want to look younger than 18, let your hair grow. Short hair makes you older, like all the women at the senior center, all have clone short hairs.

I know hair. I have over 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80's & 90's. I've known people in their 30's whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70's.

Beach hairstyles??

Q. I'm leaving for vacation wednesday morning and i need some hair ideas! My hair is curly blonde and comes down a little past my arm pits.. so if you have any good beach hairstyles please let me know! Thanks!

Answer
Here are two looks that i LOVE!!!!
1) Beachy waves

How to:
If you have straight hair you want to add either a curl activator or wave spray (like Frederic Fekkai Wave Creating Spray, $19.50) to damp hair and then let air dry or blow-dry with a diffuser while scrunching your hair from the roots. You can also add a bit of leave-in conditioner (Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Leave-In Conditioning Cream, $4) to prevent frizz. If you have curly hair and want to make your curls more loose, you can add a styling cream for curls (like Pantene Pro-V Styling Milk for Curls, $5) before blow-drying with a diffuser or letting air dry.
((From seventeen.com))

2) A side swept bun.

Take your shower and when you get out, put some stay in conditioner (conditioner you dont have to wash out) all over your hair and slick your hair to the bottom side of your head. Fastine with an elastic and then twist and fastine again for a tight, wet-looking bun. It's great with a dewy, fresh look. Wonderful for the beach!
