I'm 18 and my hair sort of looks like zac's in this picture http://images.stylehoster.com/lpc/uploads/2013/06/Stylish-Messy-Hairstyles-For-Men-2013.jpg , but a little more poofy than sticky looking. I was messing with my hair in the mirror, and I realized that it often looks better when it's a little rough looking. My question is: how do you skate the fine line between messy/cute and messy/gross? Thanks.

Answer
as long as its your face and clothes look nice, your hair will look messy/cute.
but if you dress like a slob and have toothpaste all over your face, youll look messy/gross

How long do you think my hair would have to be to get this hair cut ?

My hair is 4 inches long . Almost 5 been growing it out since April 16. I have straight . Wavy hair ( not curly at all )

Answer
Hmm... maybe down to somewhere around your eyebrow to nose tip. I feel like any length in that range would work.

Answer
I don't know if it has a name but it's a "layered cut". I've seen a similar cut and it's called the "Ivy League". Another cut is called a "crop". They all look like a "layered cut" to me!
Hope this helps!

What is it about Asian male face shapes that make it so they look good with an almost mullet type hairstyle?

Maslock J.

A lot of Asian men can have the back of their hair very long and the front a tad short, but instead of looking stupid like a mullet, it looks completely normal.
What is it about their face shapes/other factors that makes it like this?

Answer
generally circular or slightly squearish in the back so when they have hair all around it doesnt mess up, they also have it styled to go all around, but when they cut it super short it looks crappy.

i am asian and i have a kinda egg shaped head and i would never try those mullet hair cuts.

I'm a guy, first of all. So i don't have long hair, and my hair isn't crazy or emo or sums***. My hair is short, and is thick, and dark dark brown, blackish even.

I don't have pictures of myself but this is what the colour is like
http://www.google.com.au/imgres?q=brown+hair+guys&hl=en&safe=off&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=SMryD3IhZhOv9M:&imgrefurl=http://www.menshairstyles.net/v/men_fashion_hairstyles/Men%2Bspiky%2Bhaircut%2Bwith%2Bfull%2Bof%2Blayers%2Bbrown%2Bhair.PNG.html&docid=2LccLqZTmBz71M&imgurl=http://www.menshairstyles.net/d/63616-1/Men%252Bspiky%252Bhaircut%252Bwith%252Bfull%252Bof%252Blayers%252Bbrown%252Bhair.PNG&w=361&h=487&ei=_wyhTojQIKHliAK7gvRl&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=250&sig=113352598017828275871&page=1&tbnh=158&tbnw=119&start=0&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0&tx=67&ty=97&biw=1024&bih=537

And this is the colour what i want it to be
http://www.google.com.au/imgres?q=brown+hair+guys&hl=en&safe=off&biw=1024&bih=537&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=bWpcVy5mnhaATM:&imgrefurl=http://www.joy2day.com/fashion-and-showbiz/men-corner/hair-styles/asian/&docid=37vE8DZ9En0-SM&imgurl=http://www.joy2day.com/fashion-and-showbiz/men-corner/hair-styles/asian/images/Men%252520stylish%252520hairstyle%252520with%252520layers%252520in%252520redish%252520brown.jpg&w=300&h=377&ei=_wyhTojQIKHliAK7gvRl&zoom=1
I once had tips in my hair and the colour was like the picture i have shown. But that was guess work and i don't wanna mess this one up.
As i explained before, i have bleached my hair, only for a bit, and it turned the colour i wanted it, but only a part of it.

Answer
Since your hair is natural maybe you can use a dye that says it for dark hair. There is dye for dark hair to make it brown. If you bleach it you only have to bleach it for like five ten minutes and then use a toner to take out the red in it. Yes your hair will look red After bleach but then you use a toner to cancel it out and leave it brown.

What clothing and hairstyles were worn by men in 1963?

Meagan Bas

I am doing a project and I have to find out what clothing and hairstyles men and women wore in 1963. (I have already done the women) All I need is what men wore and what hairstyles men had in 1963.

Please answer ASAP and thank you!!!!!

Answer
That was sort of a transitional year, so some of the more upstanding young men probably still dressed as they did in the late 50s; casual belted khaki pants, nice button up shirts (usually solid colored or plaid), and suits and ties for formal occasions, including church, work, and cocktail parties. Hair, a very average short, well kept cut. Glasses were very big, sometimes "cats-eyed" where they flair out to points. Some mention of these things here: http://www.ehow.com/about_5057743_clothing-early-s.html

I think '63 is still a bit early for the hippy culture to come into play, but if it was beginning to appear, you might see men with somewhat shaggier hair and sideburns, and patterned pants (plaid, mostly) and turtle necks. Form-fitting suede jackets, really accenting shoulders.

Common colors at the time, very much like in the 70s, were warm colors like brown, gold, red, orange, yellow, and yellowish-green.

Here's some more pages about 60s men's fashion, though they don't specify early or late 60s, but it might give you some tips. http://vintageclothing.about.com/od/1960s/tp/60s-mens.htm

What should I wear to the Nutcracker Ballet in Denver?

EmilyP

I'm going to the Nutcracker Ballet in Denver with a group of ladies and don't know what to wear! I've never been to a ballet before, or anything like it. I have a lot of options to wear, but don't know how dressy to go. Little black dress and heels? Blouse and slacks? Blouse and nice/stylish jeans with heels? The jeans/heels outfit would be my first choice but I don't know if dressy jeans are appropriate? Help!

Answer
You will feel under-dressed if you only wear the jeans and heels outfit. You would ideally wear a dress with some tights and heels. In terms of colors, you want to stick with rich holiday colors or black is also fine. Don't forget about the details with jewelry and hair too. Make sure not to do a crazy updo because the person behind you will probably be mad that they can't see around your hair :P Oh and I've seen this before- butterfly clips are NOT okay for the holidays. You should have a wonderful time, as this is not a ballet to miss!

What can I do to repair and help my hair to become healthier?

Rochelle

Are there any home remedies or good shampoo or products that will restore my hair? I have tried a few things, even buying 40$ shampoo and conditioner which did not work. My hair is very thick and is curly/wavy. I have never dyed it but I do use the flat iron straightener with heat protection. My hair seems a little brittle and I would like it to be soft and silky and healthy again. Im open to anything.THANKS

Answer
Heat protection doesn't protect hair 100%. Like using sunscreen, you still get sunburned. Same with hair.

I did my part of abuse in the 80's & 90's. Look @ my hair now.

Good genes, good hair care and all the healthy foods from Mother Nature, that's where you get all your vitamins & minerals for growing from head to toes. Shampoos are meant for cleaning the hair, not for growing.

When you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product donât actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain⦠along with all the money you spent on the shampoo. It is HOW you use to style your hair or what styling tools that damage the hair, and what chemicals you're adding to the hair, not the shampoo.

Washing less often, builds the natural oil your hair needs, to get them smoother, shinier, silkier, softer. Man-made products are just temporary, until you wash them again, and at the same time washing off the natural oil your hair NEEDS. Hair products just absorb on your hair if they're dry, like a sponge.
Jessica Simpson have figured it out, she said she wash her hair every week. She used to abuse her hair, then start selling hair extensions because her hair starting falling from all the chemicals, but she woke up and found out how to keep her hair healthy AGAIN.

Shampoo. Condition. Towel dry, scrunch with gel like Samy, or hand lotion, blow-dry using a diffuser briefly, tousle the hair, finger comb, shake your head & you're good to go. If you don't have a diffuser, use a blow heat dryer on low for 5 mins. Give it a final rinse with carbonated or sparkling water. Sparkling water reduces frizz because of its low pH level. This is a good treatment if you often let your curls air-dry because it will help to eliminate the frizz caused by humidity.
When you wake up, instead of shampooing again, keep a bottled water filled with water/conditioner and spray on your hair. Scrunch, finger comb and you're good to go! Google Haley Rinehart - American Idol she's got long beautiful curly hair! When my hair was permed in the 80's, my hair looked like hers.

One method to make it look fuller, add body, tame the curls, bouncier, thicker, SEXIER, softer & shinier hair is to set your hair with plastic curlers (not Velcro) after you towel dry, you'll end up with uniform balance of curls. Blow dry briefly while curling them in curlers. Take them out, and finger comb to style. Used by the best hair color models, and the fashion industry, like Victoria Secret Fashion Show Dec. 2009, 2010, & 2011, America's Next Top Models, EXPRESS, Toddlers & Tiaras, Dance Moms, Dancing with the Stars, even used on Oprah's hair . . . . and continued to be used today where salons care about pampering your hair. When you see hair on TV a hair color commercial, they're not done by curling or straightening tools. Hair that shines like that and feels like hair, not hay, has to be done by the best hair tools available w/out damaging to the hair. When you take the curlers out, finger comb to style or lightly brush. Tousle the hair up. or shake your hair. You can use large, medium or small curlers, that depends on the length of your hair. Think of JLo's hair, she was voted as the Sexiest Woman by People magazine!

If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" - Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

Cutting your split ends yourself, spend 5-10 mins. on a sunny day so you can easily spot them, using a 2" scissors, cut strand by strand, section by section, allowing new growth to take over. Then 2x a year, get a good hair cut. This won't speed things up, but it will make the hair look healthier while it's growing. Even healthy hair like mine get them, due to normal brushing & styling.

Man-made products & supplements can do more harm than good.
Beginning in February 2008, they experienced one symptom after another: diarrhea, joint pain, HAIR LOSS, lung problems, and fingernails and toenails that fell off. FDA has received numerous reports of harm associated with the use of these products, including stroke, liver injury, kidney failure, heart palpitations, and death. 3-15-11.

What are some great hair products for repairing naturally curly hair?

Blah

Recently I've found out that I have curly hair after about 2 years of getting my hair deep conditioned & straightened. I have between 3B & 3C hair type but its frizzy with heat damage. So id like to go naturally & find some washes/products that hydrate my hair without being too oily, repair my frizz & split ends, & defines while holding my curls without gels making it crunchy & too shiny looking. Help please :)

I have a pale skin tone and I want a grunge look. Ok so think Frances Bean. Same skin tone. Love her hair! When it's blonde. But the thing is, I don't want it blonde. I tried doing the ombre thing at home but I ruined it x(
I don't want to go to a salon. I cut my own hair as well as dye it. I'm thinking about dying it red. But it's hard to manage. I'm just stuck! Any ideas?

Pale skin often looks good with Dark browns or blacks, Rangas/oranges and bright reds.

Red hair is VERY hard to maintain, i warn you, but it looks AMAZING! If you go for a red, i suggest you touch it up about every 4 weeks. Or just whenever it starts to fade. Also, red is a bugger to get out, and will take a long time to get rid of when you want to change again. :)
Good luck.

Flattering clothes for a 105 pound 16 year old?

Hi so I'm 105 pounds and fit (not anorexic) and I was wondering what types of clothes would flatter my body nicely!! I have b cup sized boobs, long light brown hair, tan skin, and dark brown eyes. Makeup and hair ideas would work too! Thanks!

Answer
Start with creating a capsule wardrobe: basic, "must-have's" vs. trendy stuff. Once one has the basics, she can rely on accessories to provide pops of colour and interest. You'll never have "..I have nothing to wear" blues again, if you have the essentials.

-all-cotton ribbed, extra-long tanks (white and black)

-cotton, button-down, collared oversized bf shirt(s) (denim and white)

I have natural asian black hair and i want to dye it using a store bought hair coloring box.
-I'm still a teeen

Answer
You should bleach your hair with hair bleach and then use loriel hair dye. The bleach is to lighten it up because black is a very hard color to get out. But you should bleach it one day and then wait 2 days before you do the brown.

What is the difference between professional hair color, and the box kind?

Trixies Ma

I've heard that boxed hair color isn't so good for your hair (even though the box usually praises the product).

What is the difference between the hair color that the professionals use, and the boxed kind?

Answer
professional hair color lasts longer and looks better the box kind washes out even tough they say it wont i does and it could most likely look terrible

What is some really pretty hair and makeup for a date?

Gmazing

I want something pretty, yet sexy, but something for daytime, so not a smokey eye. I have fair skin, dark brown eyes, big ish lips, and a round face. Also some pretty hair styles. My hair is medium length dark brown, and curly.

Answer
arghhh you are so lucky!! i could dream about having curly hair all day.

sorry to be gross and talk about primitive jungle stuff, but men don't really look at your makeup per se. what they do look at is your general put-togetherness and certain physical cues of health/genetic erm...proliferation. so...

for eyes: i would go with a nude gold, copper or honey-colored shimmery eyeshadow smoky eye. i know you said no smoke, but if you just lighten up the usual colors it can look really dewy and nice. or do a simple cat-eye with liquid black eyeliner. just try to keep it pretty nude. if you manage to do this, then you can wear a cute lipstick that pops. big-ish lips are something guys like.

for hair: shiny hair is a "sign of health" that guys unconsciously look for. you can leave your hair down if you want, but whatever you do with it, use a product that will make your hair glossy and shiny, such as argan oil or organix coconut oil. also any of the "greek" hairstyles, with cute braided headbands or actual headbands, are good for day and night and super cute for a date.

How do black women maintain their hairstyle after exercising?

Jennifer H

I exercise almost daily. I need a style that is attractive and not hard/ghetto. I am a thirty year old Black woman. Thanks!

Answer
I thought I was the only one with this problem! I wear my hair in a straight sewed in weave and when I just get it done (like yesterday morning) it makes me not even wana workout because I dont wana sweat it out! Anyway, of all the hairstyles Ive had I find that this is the best for working out. Being that only the front of your natural hair and maybe the back is out, that can be easily touched up. I am able to just wrap my hair after I leave the gym and the next day it looks fine without flat ironing it. You can also go with a wavy or curly sew in which will really blend with the texture of you hair after working out, just moisturize and go! Remember the type of hair you purchase makes all the difference. Try REMI-VELVET or any REMI hair its about 50$ a pack for 12" but it can last for up to 4 months if it is taken care of and done correctly. It is so silky and doesnt crawl up the back of you neck! I hate to be limited to only braids because I workout. When Im not at the gym sometimes i want something cuter than braids!

Where can I buy Hairycure in USA?

anishq

I have been searching for a natural and permanent hair removal oils/creams with no side effects. I came across a new product becoming popular in Europe which is 'Hairycure' oil.
1. Has anyone tried this product?

2. How/ where can I get this product in USA?

Answer
In the beauty industry, there is no industry-agreed meaning for terms like 'organic' or 'natural'. Unlike the food industry, these terms are not regulated for cosmetics which means companies can use these terms pretty freely.
Also, products like shampoo, conditioner and body wash are mostly made of water so therefore are mostly natural (because water is natural, right?). So if a shampoo is 90% water, then a company can simply claim "90% organic or natural" and be telling the truth. Certainly, this isn't in the spirit of what people believe organic to mean, but it is within the law.

Don't believe the hype: "For skin care products, 'organic is not enough,. Some organic products are fabulous, and some are not." ~ Dr. Lisa Chipps , M.D. specializes in removing skin cancer & repairing the resultant wound (laser therapy whiz) in Rodeo Drive.
"Organic skin care products are trendy, but that does not mean nonorganic ones are dangerous," Wendy E. Roberts, M.D. past president of the Women's Dermatologic Society.
~ Glamour May 2012

Sources:
Google: What Does Organic Mean for Beauty Products?

CREAMS there are side effects and people violate those warnings: Skin damage, odor, more hair growth, uneven skin & hair growth, allergic reaction. Keratin is the main protein that forms a hair strand. The result is the hair is wiped away with gentle friction. There are several chemicals based on the strength, color and coarseness of the hair. Before applying the cream, the skin type is also considered. Example from a VEET user: ."I used Veet to wax off my moustache which wasn't anything tragic,(STUPID ME) around 12 hours ago.....And for the first time I've got this reaaally bad skin irritation, I'm as red as a pepper for Gd's sake!" One girl put the cream on her nipples: "I just tried using nair for the first time and I tried putting it on my nipples because I am dumb and didnt read the directions. (and yes, I have hairy nipples. please dont make fun of me because it bothers me already). now my nipples are REALLY burning along with the rest of my skin." "I've waxed my upper lip by myself in the morning using a veet strip and peeled 3 large spots of skin and its really red and it burns !? help me plz i have skool after 2 days ! i waited 7 hours but nothing happeened ?" This may not be a good option for you if you have sensitive skin. If your skin develops severe irritation afterwards, go see a doctor!
Example from YA re: hair removal spray from Sally Hansen: "Being an idiot, I purchased the Sally Hansen hair removal spray thinking it would work. I used it last night before i showered, left it on for about 4 minutes and it didn't remove my hair. I am not concerned with the fact that it didn't remove my hair but it left my skin to be ridiculously irritated and itchy and burning with bumps allllllllll over! What can I use on my skin to calm this down and make it less painful?"

THREE MOST COMMON MYTHS:
1.The rate of hair regrowth will not change because of hair removal.
2.Hair coverage will not change in density; your body has a set number of hair follicles.
3.Ingrown hairs are common but not impossible to avoid; everyone has different susceptibility to ingrown hairs.

This is very time-sensitive. I need a colorist who is very good with fragile hair and sensitive scalp. I have processed hair (Hawaiian straightening), and must use non-permanent color. I am looking for a hairdresser who specializes in coloring hair. I use AlfaParf Dolce Color #5. I am looking to find a colorist preferably in the area between northeastern Queens and western Nassau; especially in Forest Hills, Bayside, or Great Neck, NY. I would rather not have to travel into Manhattan, or going east past Manhasset in the north or Glen Cove in mid-county, Nassau. Thanks for any help you can give.

Would it be considered a perm? You know what I'm talking about. It's like short, but poofy. Why do they all do it? Is it like they just wake up one day and natural instinct convinces them they've always wanted a Feminine Pompadour, or is a slow and gradual process? Do you think they belong to an underground club? What is going on???
Hahaha. This mystery will never be solved!

Answer
Bwaahaaha! I'm 59. When I was a teenager (1960's) I wondered the same thing - The "old lady hairstyle" was even then exactly as you described it. At that time women were "appropriately garbed as adults" by a young age according to today's standards. Wearing long hair (even shoulder length) or straight hair in your 30's would have been like a 40-50 year old wearing a mini skirt now days (except for Tina Turner of course!). It was a tacky effort to BE younger, which is pretty sad and pathetic; It's very different from keeping yourself up and looking youthful.
Through the years, I have watched women drop off into the "muffy head" way. Some change into it during their 40's, 50's, 60's and some never do. My mom died at 90, and she left her muffy head behind during her 50's. She wore a really cute, straight, pixie cut. My sister (63) and I have straight shoulder length hair in a very nice cut that falls well. (At 46 mine was wavy, red and hip-length.) My point is that times have changed, but many women have not necessarily changed with the times. This is understandable for those over 70 because there really was a strong cultural edict about appropriate hair for ladies. Others who choose that muffy pompadour, stylish for all ages in the 1950's, early 1960's, are super conforming or lack taste........There are many cute styles for short and/or permed hair.

To the many who remarked that this is the easiest style to keep.......It is by far among the most difficult. If you've never had a perm or had to use rollers/curlers, cold or heated, please don't have an opinion. Those of us who have been tortured by these devices will get cranky with you.

How do I fix my dead dry hair ?

nikki

My hair used to be long and soft and beautiful with natural curls , but I bleached the tips and it seems like it killed my whole head of hair !!! It is dry and the curls are just knots now ... It's brittle and frizzy and gross .... Any home remedies ?? Or any cheap product ?? Or a type of shampoo/ conditioner I need to use ??? I'm desperate

Answer
Hair products are NOT made of glue to fix, prevent, reverse hair from getting damaged, or hair loss, or make them grow . . . . they are a trillion dollar business. They also do NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss caused by heat & chemicals - hair's worst enemies.
Best remedy is cutting the damaged hair (or frequently) to allow new growth to take over.

Get rid of your dyes, chemicals & straightening tools (didn't say you do).

Like skin, hair also get sunburned, so you need to protect them from the sun.

Increase your fresh fruits & vegetables by3- 5 servings and eat protein & dairy products. It does the body good.

Stay away from supplements because they don't work. It does more harm done good.

Brushing your hair when it's wet, promotes split ends.

Heat & chemicals are hair's worst enemies. Heat tampers the hair! Your hair has static electricity so when you're hair TOUCHES heat, it tampers the growth, making the hair grow ABNORMAL or none. It gets frizzy, when you leave the house, it causes split ends. It will only get shorter after you cut it, but it doesn't grow as fast. If you want curly hair, (or straight hair to tame your curly hair) look @ videos or hairstyles of women in the late 40's or 50's, and see how healthy & silky their curly hair was. Have you seen Miracle on 34th Street or Downton Abbey? Their hair wasn't styled by professional hairstylists. They were styled by maids. No hair oil, no serum, no hair sprays, and no gels with just the use of shampoo & conditioner. Many countries didn't even have bottled shampoo & conditioner, example in my country, all we've ever used was a bar of soap for our bodies, hair & laundry. I did that for 13 years, even though my hair was permed, but there was no frizzy, no blowdrying and my hair was the same as today: silky, shiny, soft, smooth it IS HOW they are styled when they're wet, and no hair dryer (for 13 years I lived in Asia). Many women then had long hair, curly hair and they wore hats, and pin-curled or plastic curlers curled HAIRSTYLES. The men too, have very shiny hair like the women, although the men used pomade . . .that was before Bumble & Bumble's production 70's, John Frieda's production 1988 or the invention of heating tools, and WEN in 1996. Another way to find the secret to beautiful hair? Find someone with beautiful healthy curls or silky, shiny (not greasy) straight hair and ask him or her to share secrets, preferably someone who is 40-60 years older than YOU. I have 5 decades, so you're getting the answers you need, right here! I won't charge you a penny!
Better yet, watch Pretty Woman - Julia Roberts's hair in that movie! In the 90's, they didn't have many hair products or heating tools and they also styled her hair many ways!
Very good example with very long & very tightly curls: watch Derek Hough dances with Brilynn Rakes, 17. Brilynn was chosen to dance on âDWTSâ when producers saw incredible videos of the blind girlâs skills. Her hair was styled many ways w/out the use of heat!

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

"You find people oiling hair every single day, the hair sweats and it doesnât get washed. What do you think happens? It goes limp and becomes thin because it is not breathing,â Shamillah Mohammed, a hairstylist at SUQA, says.

How should I get my hair cut?

<3

I have long, thick, straight hair. I've had the same hair style for years, I just keep it parted down the middle, no bangs. I am going on Friday to get it cut, and I want something different. How should I get it cut?

Answer
Since you have straight hair, you have many options.
You could just get some layers and some side bangs and it would look fine.
Or you could go for a really stylized cut.
It depends on how much time and effort you are willing to put into your hair everyday.
I say just google "long straight hairstyles" and pick out which ones you really like. Then, take that picture in to the hairstylist.

Makeup that will make me look a bit older?

kelly d

I went to a party and was promptly kicked out on the accusation that I presented a fake ID , and I'm 20 but look 15. Is there any makeup or something that will make me look a bit older?

Answer
Steps

1. Take care of yourself by washing regularly, using deodorant, and, for women, try to do your makeup as often as possible.
2. Fix your eyebrows. Some surveys say that when your eyebrows are done and put together, you can look more mature and therefore, look older.
3. Wear sophisticated looking clothes. This doesn't mean that you have to wear a suit everyday, but stay tuned to trends that suit your age or the age you want to look. Stay away from pastels such as bubblegum pink, light blue, sea green etc. Men should avoid baseball caps and baggy jeans.
4. Consult with a hair stylist. Give a brief summary of your situation or just simply ask for a "mature cut". Look towards more trendy hairstyles. Someone who follows trends generally is or appears to be older. That said, you shouldn't be reading seventeen magazines. Start reading InStyle, Allure, People, Cosmopolitan or Vogue.
5. Work on the way you appear to people, such as personality traits and characteristics.
6. Listen to others. People who are good listeners appear more mature.
7. Be comfortable when talking to people who are older than you.
8. Act calm, and handle things in a reserved manner.
9. Show cleavage appropriately, wear heels, and wear a watch.
10. Dress like the age group you want to fit into. Buy clothes that fit you, not ones that are popular. Avoid Abercrombie, Hollister, and American Eagle because they are symbols of teen style unless you are younger you may. Do not wear plastic flip flops. Chic leather sandals are a good investment because they will usually compliment your feet, make you look richer, make you look older, and complete an outfit.
11. Try to be more put together on a daily basis. Focus on cute shoes and accessories.
12. Wearing a Vera Bradley Bag, colorful Coach bag, or any other colorful purse will make you look instantly younger. If you want to look older, look for more neutral colored handbags. Look for leather, for some reason the older you become, the more leather you own.
13. Women: Wear Makeup. If you are a young woman, only use a little and learn to do it properly. If you overdo your makeup, you'll look more like you've raided your older aunt's makeup drawer than a mature woman! Learn to properly apply makeup to suit your face and fashion needs.
14. Care For Your Skin. If you have acne, do something about it. Go on medication, have a skin clearing regimen.
15. Keep up with current events. It is true that not all adults keep up with current events and it is almost impossible to keep up with all current events. But watch the news once in awhile. It can impress on others that you are aware of world affairs and are capable of staying current.
16. Make the first changes understated. If you transition gracefully, no one should notice much of a change
17. Act mature. If you are all over the place, and hyper and peppy all of the time, you will seem childish no matter what you're wearing.
18. Be careful with your speech. Use proper English. If you're using a lot of slang, swears, and stammering words like, "ummm", "you know", you will not sound like a mature man or woman. Avoid saying "like" every two words. Enhance your vocabulary; if you speak eloquently you will be perceived as more mature.
19. Choose a mature role model to emulate. Pick an actor, musician, or other public figure who is your age or a few years older that projects a sophisticated image. The way he or she dresses, speaks, walks, and acts can help you understand how a mature persona acts.

Tips

*
1. If the people in a given store all look much older than you, you may be dressing too young. Find out where your peers shop.
2. If you're petite, buy petite clothing rather than shopping at the "Misses'" section.
3. If you're a woman, don't shop in the "Junior's" section if you are over 18 or so. That section is for teenagers, not young women.
