Hair Color!?

Heather

I'm natually a mousy blonde (currently have hight lights and a few low lights), icy blue eyes, and very fair skin. I was thinking about dying my hair brown. Would this color look to dark? Can anyone include any pictures of somebody with brown hair, fair skin, and blue eyes??? Thanks!

Answer
I don't think it's possible to include pictures in these answers, but I've provided some links to pictures. :)

Whether it will "look too dark" or not really depends on your preference! It is your hair, after all! :) Such a look WILL get you noticed, though! It isn't subtle.

Blue-eyed brunettes look incredibly striking. Cool ash browns complement a cool complexion due to the dramatic contrast between pale neutral skin and very dark hair. Both blue and grey eyes gain intensity.

Darker colours have the most potent light reflecting qualities and so work well with bobs and long styles as they emphasise sleekness.

Cool brunette shades are among the most striking, but their lack of warmth can be harsh. Go particularly carefully if you're doing it yourself. Dark-brown shades off the shelf often come out as black.

These are some famous blue-eyed ladies with brown hair:

Cameron Diaz â (a natural blonde, but she sometimes lowlights it to brown.)

Dark brown hair with a cool violet hue gives Cameron's blue eyes a boost and ushers in a sultry new persona.

Sadie Frost â another blue-eyed girl in love with bitter chocolate locks.

Cut to bob length the vibe is one of effortless chic.

Alsou (famous Russian model) â

With her natural raven-black shade, Alsou's pale blue eyes and porcelain complexion are enhanced. Make-up - a pale base and rosy blush - is integral to the look's success.

You may want to try a temporary hair-darkening rinse first, before you go with permanent color. One such: Aveda Black Malva Shampoo (www.aveda.com)

How should I do my hair/makeup/nails/accessories for this dress?

That Girl

Ok so my 8th hgrade prom is coming up and I already have my dress and shoes. Now I just need to know:

How to do my hair
How to do my makeup
What kind of purse I should have
What kind of jewelry
How to do my nails

I kind of blew a lot of money on the dress and shoes and my spa appointment to do my nails was pretty pricey too. I need to know all of he above without spending another fortune. Thanks! :)

Shoes:

http://m.ninashoes.com/productInfo.html?pid=15210&bc=210__Shoes--200__New%20Styles--

Answer
All of those depend on things like your face shape, body type, hair length and color, and skin tone, but I'll give a general idea anyway:

-Hair: Something that makes most people look stunning is a nice bun (especially at non-casual occasions).

It could be tight and precisely styled, like this:
http://www.celebritypromhairstyles.info/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Black-prom-hairstyles-2011.jpg

It could be simple and neat, like this:
http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/2010%2BVanity%2BFair%2BOscar%2BParty%2BHosted%2BGraydon%2BUsnAJkh5GFhl.jpg

Or, (and *this is what I would recommend for you*) it could be messy but pretty, like these:
http://womanplace.net/image/bun-hairstyles-20124efb9da5a1b35.jpg
http://media20.onsugar.com/files/2011/10/41/5/1899/18992594/993a0bb4ace297b6_messy_bun_prom_hairstyles_2.jpg
http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/img/5519/Alicia/5750l.jpg

To style your hair, it would be best to go to a good hair dresser and take them one of those pictures (or a different one that like that you find yourself). Most good hair dressers should be able to do those styles for not much money. If you want to do it yourself, there are some video guides on youtube that can help. These are a good place to start, for the messy bun, but feel free to look around for the one that you like the best!:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRTGqZnbcSc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfCEJHVfNkE&feature=endscreen&NR=1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMVsJdIvZWQ&feature=endscreen&NR=1

Doing it yourself can be a bit tricky. You may want to practice a bit before prom to make sure that you definitely do want to do it yourself, and to get the hang of it before the big day.

-Makeup: For prom, do something simple and classic.

You should use only a light mascara and a subtle pink-ish or peachy lip gloss (something that resembles the natural pink of your lips). If your eyes absolutely need more definition, use some eyeliner, also. If your skin tone needs to be evened out, use a concealer and *good* foundation, sparingly (you could even use a tinted moisturizer instead of a foundation.). If you really want eye shadow, use a neutral tone.

Something like in this video could look pretty great! : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlNj2IKGEok&feature=related Remember, like I said though, keep it simple and classic. Using a tinted moisturizer, rather than foundation, can help make your skin look less "cake-y".

If you want to go a little more "all out", I think eyes like this would look great with your dress (especially if you have dark hair): http://www.seventeen.com/cm/seventeen/images/FD/RachelBilson-Dimitrios-49576453-mdn.jpg . If you have light hair, though (and light skin), I would use some lighter colors for the eye shadow and blush than she did.

For your purse, jewelry, and nails really just let your personality shine through. So much would go well with this dress and those shoes, that you can really take this opportunity to express your personality. Lots of colors could go amazingly with that dress. Some basics would be white, silver, black, or red. But, a modern young trend would be to use more florescent colors. A florescent yellow, pink, or green, if done right, could make the outfit trendy, unique, and fresh (and could make the whole look be less debutante-ish). Don't make your outfit boring by perfectly paring your jewelry colors with your purse, shoe, and nail colors. But, don't make it clash by being too different, either. Find a balance of matching while keeping it interesting. When in doubt, use silver!

-Jewelry: Let your personality shine through here. The simplest thing to do is a bracelet, stud earrings, and a ring if you really want. With this neckline, I wouldn't bother with a necklace. The basic and most "formal" looking colors to do would be diamond stud, and sliver bracelet/ring. But, really play around with it.

-Nails: Again, it depends on your personal style and the accessories that you choose (so take inspiration from your every day style and coordinate with the rest of your accessories).. Basically, make sure the nails don't clash with anything else in your outfit. A simple classic thing to do would be a white French tip.

-Purse: I wouldn't take a purse at all. If you have things that you absolutely do need to carry with you, though, take a thin, rectangle clutch.

A black clutch could be great, but you could do a unique pattern or a pop of a solid color to liven up your outfit and make it more unique. Pick a color or pattern that you like! That's the main point.

Just make sure that the color/pattern goes well with the makeup. That is where you could run into trouble, with this outfit. Adjust the makeup tones to be lighter or darker to go well with your accessories. Have fun playing with it, before prom, to find what you really like. There are a *lot* of options for this outfit!

50-60's hair styles?

jessica_st

i was wondering what are cute 50-60's hairstyles for a party that i have to go to?

i have long hair f.y.i.
its also havanna nights theme too

Answer
For the younger women, pony tails were very big in the fifties. Also, a short cut called a duck's *ss came in style around 1960 or so. In the early sixties, long straight hair became popular for women (think folk music). As for older women (that is, married women), tightly curled hair ruled in the fifties, but became less tightly curled in the sixties. Perms were very big in the fifties.

If you have your choice between the fifties and sixties, go for the sixties and wear your hair long and straight with some flowers in it -- hippy style, like a little crown of flowers or one stuck behind your ear. Then wear a peasant style dress, a kaftan, or something else long and flowing -- or else tie-dyed.

older women do you remember hairstyles in the 60's and 70's?

gunnysheil

I remember my gran, mum and aunts and other women in the estate i lived in having their hair in rollers all the time,
and also my mum setting my hair at night before i went to bed so that my hair would be curly the next day.

What are your memories of that era

Answer
I think we forget (on purpose) cause the Moms and Grandmas used to embarrass us when they made us go out in public with them with those dang rollers in their hair

What hair color would best match my gray eyes and light skin tone?

I'm planning to spice up my look a bit and make my face look a bit livelier--just in time for spring. I'd want to have reddish brown hair, will a medium auburn color look good for my features?

I'm considering Wella and L'oreal, which product will be best for first-time coloring?

How do I maintain the color?

Answer
Medium auburn would look lovely with fair skin and gray eyes!

I used L'oreal when I first colored my hair and the results were great. It didn't dry out and I liked the color. I now swear by L'oreal, and use it every time I color my hair and the results are consistently good. I've heard good things about Wella, too, but I've never used this so I can't tell you anything about it.

As for maintaining your color, use a special shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair. If you are dying it a reddish brown, every once and awhile, soak it with red tea bags.

Hair color helpp!?

Q. I want to dye my hair but i'm not sure how it will look.
If you have any comments or suggestions please help.
this is my hair now:
http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll237/BrnEyedDancer/hahah.jpg

and this is how i want to dye it but I want the blonde parts to be just a little bit darker and the rediish parts to be a little lighter than my natural color so that my eye brows won't look so weird.
http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll237/BrnEyedDancer/Hairbest.png

I want to do it over the summer so that I can change it back before school starts again though if it looks weird.

Answer
What you want to do is considered "hair chunking"...it's a bit of an old trend, so not too trendy, doesn't look very good on anyone. I myself have long hair like you and skin tone, so I can relate. Best bet, just wanted to first mention, DO NOT cut your hair. Secondly, I understand you want to change your hair color, I do my own hair different color every 2 years. So let's see...I would not recommend any kind of blond on you, it would only wash you out and make you look weird. You want to stay with a nice creamy color to match your creamy skin. As for multi colors, which it seems like that is what you're going for, I would suggest subtle face framing highlights that are a bit lighter than your natural color.

So, to sum it up: As for an entire color change, no one can talk you out of that, so I would suggest going possibly a honey-brown (not blond), and again, as for multi-tones, I would suggest subtle face framing highlights a few shades lighter.

No BLONDE. It will not look right. Make sure your new hair color is creamy and shiny, not mute and mousy.

Good luck!

Answer
Don't tie a pony tail. Pin up ur hair from one side and keep another side open if u have shoulder cut hair. It will look good. Deep condition ur hair before doing hair style and if possible for keeping the style for about 5 to 6 hrs. use aloe vera thin (Dr. Urjita Jain Product) for spraying ur hair which is safe than any other hair spray which after drying by itself keep ur hair safe.

what hairstyle would suit me when wearing a saree?

What color to dye my hair, picture included!?

Kristie

What color should I dye my hair? I'm bored and want some ideas! (I'm the girl, obviously =))

Answer
Your hair looks red to me, so correct me if I'm wrong and I'll give you tips for whatever color your hair really is. But for now, I shall give you red hair tips.

Red Head Highlights:
If you have natural red or auburn hair, you may be looking for an accent or highlight color. You may want to add depth and sparkle to your natural shade. There are a variety of red hair colors that enhance naturally red hair. A temporary rather than semi-permanent color can add a punch of color that will increase the shine and boldness of your natural shade, taking it up a notch without changing the tone. Depending on your current hair shade, highlight colors include:
â¢Blonde
â¢Golden shades
â¢Strawberry Blonde
â¢Copper
â¢A combination of darker red lowlights and highlights

But then again, you're hair also looks kind of brown. Eh, I'll give you tips for that, too (By the way, I have more tips for Brunette hair simply because I am one, so don't feel that the red head tips are getting ripped off :)):

Brightening Brunettes and Brown Hair Highlights:
Brown hair can be brightened into a multitude of hues through various hair styling and coloring techniques, including:
* Highlights: Adding honey, ginger, almond, russet, or other light highlights to brown hair adds texture and dimension to the hair. Be careful not to go too many shades lighter to avoid a streaked appearance, and note that darker brown shades do not show red highlights well.
* Hair Accessories: Dark shades show off glittering hair pins, head bands, and decorative comes far better than lighter hair colors, particularly in updos and other formal hair styles.
* Natural Lightening: Most brown shades will lighten naturally with exposure to sunlight, and they will develop red and blonde tints depending on each individualâs genetic makeup. To create natural highlights in unique patterns (and ensuring that more than the top layer of hair is lightened) wear braids or ponytails to expose different strands.
If you already have brunette hair and are looking for ways to save some hard earned, beauty-splurge cash, why not go back to your roots and go the natural route? Despite popular fears that brown hair is boring, there are plenty of spicy ways to add a timeless look to your already beautiful brunette hair.
* Enrich: Enrich your natural color with an allover shade a few shades richer. To add some contrast and interest, ask your stylist to weave in a few copper hair highlights.
* Deepen: Go chocolate! If youâre natural brown borders on moussey, richen it up with a decadent shade of chocolate brown, which will add instant drama with little investment.
* Shine: Shine or color glossing treatments adds sparkle and sheen to dark hair. A glossing treatment can be done in the salon for a bargain price and will instantly add some life to your locks.
* Vanilla and Chocolate: Want the best of both worlds? Brunettes can still play with blonde without a large commitment. Ask your stylist to add a few strategically placed blonde hair highlights around your face to brighten your look while keeping the rest of your color natural.
* Chunk: Although not as trendy as days gone past, statement chunking techniques on a dark base add instant pop and a low maintenance color choice for those seeking a dramatic and bold look. Experiment with shades of blue, blonde, or red chunks. Get creative!

what is a good hairstyle that will let me keep my LONG hair but give it style? ( young teen) something trendy.

My hair is thick, long, and pretty frizzy. I need a transformation...

Answer
if your hair is frizzy, straighten it.
you can get a straightener from walmart, target, online, and any beauty suppy shop. (sally's beauty supply is my favorite.)

if your parents will allow you, DYE YOUR HAIR. make it look natural! nothings better than a whole new color to go with your new straightened hair! if not, look into streaks, highlights, and maybe just a little color. (as in blue, green, ect.)

if your hair is thick, and your not happy with it, go to the salon, ask for just a quick thinning. they'll know what to do, and to make it 'edgy' but 'trendy' get a razor cut. it always looks great, maybe even get some layers? <3

do you have bangs? you can get long bangs, grow them out. you can get side-bangs, (which always look great!) just part it with a come to the side you prefer.

look online for cool pictures of styles you admire, show your parents, you dont wanna come home with something they dont like, they'll just keep bugging you until you fix/change it.

bring preference pictures with you to salons, they'll get a better view of what you want, remember, if they're doing something you dont like to your hair. immediatly say something! dont hold back and wait until the damage is done, i know from experience you'll just be sorry in the end.

stay away from any shampoo's that are greasy and not made for your type of hair. it will result in dandruff, greasy hair, and it will sometimes have a weird smell.

i hope this helped :)

What color of hair do you think a Latina would look best in?

beautiful

I have long black hair, I don't know if I should dye it brown.

Answer
Black hair for a Latina girl looks good! Maybe its not so much a color change your looking for, maybe you can try a new cut and style and maybe even a little highights! :D

If your a light skin Latina, then I would say sure go for the brown! If your a darker skin tone then it depends on the shade of brown. Don't get a brown that like matches your skin, I see many people do that and it looks so tacky!

I honestly think for a Latina, black is so beautiful and natural! You may just need a new style/cut and you can rock your new look!

Best of Luck!

Hair colour?

BabyGirl

I'm brunette, dark brown hair. My complexion is not fair like blonde girls, but not dark as Latinas, either. Smth in between. I have frizzy hair and very dry texture, even though I always use hair mask (cream) after shampooing and keep that on my hair for 10 mins before rinsing. I don't know what to do to change my hair's texture and make it soft and not frizzy anymore. I also wanted to dye my hair a lighter colour as summer starts and a light brown hair looks better on a tanned skin. Please tell me what do you think, whether dying my hair lighter will make my hair more beautiful and what to do to make it soft, non-frizzy and to be brilliant (shining). Thanks a lot!

Answer
Going lighter can really make your hair appear much frizzier. Going to an auburn will give your hair a healthy looking lift and it can be lighter. DO NOT permenant products a they are known to dry hair out terribly. Get a trim too to get rid of some slpit ends. Lighter hair can make hair appear thinner too.

Hair dye and extentions colour?

....

I want to dye my hair brown and get hair extensions, I'm going to get these extensions in medium brown : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FULL-HEAD-CLIP-HAIR-EXTENSIONS-18-20-22-24-LONG-STRAIGHT-ANY-COLOUR-STYLE-/330712020357?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_Hair_Care_Hair_Extentions_CV&var=&hash=item7dbe148c08#ht_6434wt_987

But I don't know what colour to dye my hair with them, could anyone suggest brands and colours please

I have naturally brown hair but dyed blonde at the moment.

Answer
A lot of people, those who are new to hair extensions and even those who have experience in hair extensions are unaware that you can dye hair extensions yourself! Headkandy stock clip in extensions in shade "Dye it Yourselfâ these are perfect for people who canât find their match on the website and would prefer to dye the extensions in the same colour they dye their own hair. It doesnât just have to be the "Dye it Yourselfâ extensions, you can dye any of the human hair extensions to match your own hair provided itâs just by a few shades. The extensions can only be dyed darker, or you can add a toner. They cannot be lightened or bleached as they have already been through a chemical process and additional colouring or bleaching is likely to affect the condition of the hair.

Before dyeing the extensions ALWAYS DO A STRAND TEST, this means dyeing just a few strands of the hair first to give you an idea of how the colour is going to come out. Once you have done a strand test and you are happy with the results you can go ahead and dye the rest of the hair extensions. You will need to use much more of the dye than you might usually use as you will have to completely saturate the extensions in the dye to guarantee a true, even colour.

The freedom to dye hair extensions is also handy for those who want to change the colour of their own hair, simply dye your extensions at the same time with the same shade.

If you have dyed your hair extensions you will then need to wash them. You can wash and condition them following our guide on www.headkandy.com Please keep a few things in mind... donât rub the hair vigorously when you shampoo and condition, itâs best to smooth the product into the hair extensions by running your hands down the hair to prevent tangling them.

We highly recommend that you then allow the hair extensions to dry naturally and then straighten them out once dry.

You donât necessarily need to wash the hair extensions, certainly not often as they donât get the same supply of natural oils as your own hair therefore they tend to stay fairly clean.
Clip in hair extensions are so versatile, not only can you achieve various styles but you can change the colour to suit you!

I dyed my hair the wrong color ! ?

Nerdsareko

I dyed my hair brown a few months ago and my roots grew out. So i got new dye to dye my roots BUT i forgot the exact color so i ended up buying the wrong color . Now my roots are darker then the rest of my hair . Can i just put the first color hair dye onto my ugly roots?

Answer
If you're dye-ing a lighter color over a darker one, it will not come out the same color as the rest of your hair. You can try experimenting, get a box that is a shade lighter than your desired color, that might even it out. Or you can dye the rest of your hair the darker color. Or you can do low-lights using the darker color, and streak it through your hair to even it out.

i have light blonde hair on top and jet black color on bottom?

ayva

i dont like the black underneath, so is there anything i can use to get the black dye to lighten up my hair so it wont be jet black? any suggestions that wont completely fry my hair cause ive dyed the top twice and the bottom twice in the last month so i need somthing that will get rid of it without dying it again. any suggestions would be appriciated! :) thank you.

Answer
There's really no other way. It seems you wanted it like that since it cant just accidently become black on the bottom and blonde on the top?
Just dye it how you want it. And buy really good hair products to take care of it.
I reccamend NEXXUS shampoo and conditioner.
BEST conditioner ive ever used.
I too have dyed my hair lots and it made my hair silky again.

Dont trust the product above ^^^^
It damages your hair just as much as dye would. It's stripping the color out of your hair like bleach, accept not as dramatically.

Hair dye that's jet black but bluish in light? What color?

Hiep L

I want my hair to be jet jet black so that it looks almost blue...any ideas? I've never dyed my hair, so I don't really know. Tell me if you've dyed your hair that color and what brand it is, thank you.

Answer
It is called 'Blue Black'. There are several companies that do make this color.
I have tried expensive ones as well as the cheaper ones ... I never did notice a difference.
My original hair color is black. When I first started to dye it, I went with this 'Burgundy' color.
It was cool because it was still dark but in the sunlight, it looked purple.
After years of burgundy, my hubby said to me, why don't you go back to your natural color.
To please him, there were three choices from the 'Black' family.
1- brownish black 2- black 3- blue black
When I finally took the towel off too see the dye job, I almost fainted. I was sssoooo black, it
was hideous ... and I have naturally black hair.
It made me look like I needed a tan desperately. I am 100% Italian, so I am dark to begin with.
Needless to say, I couldn't wait for my hair to turn gray again so I could go back to my burgundy color. Whew !!
But YES, the color you are looking for is BlueBlack

Can i put a dark rinse over bleached african american hair???

* + * Ch3r

About Two weeks ago, my hair stylist put a bleached blonde with a red rinse only on the back part of my hair, so now its like a neon orange. Is it possible I can put a black rinse overtop of my whole head? Or should I wait until the temporary red rinse comes out, and just cover up the blonde and the other parts? If not, I just have to wait until the whole color is coming out completely?

Answer
How many washes have you done since your stylist rinsed your hair? The rinse lasts about 6-8 shampoos, right? Or longer?

If the red rinse is almost all out, try washing your hair 2-3x in the shower, with a moisturizing shampoo. Make sure to condition really well after, so your hair doesn't dry out. Also, if you don't have a moisturizing shampoo, don't do this all in 1 day. Your hair will be as dry as sand. Wash every other day, and condition well, after.

If the rinse is kind of fresh, because you haven't been washing often enough, just put the black rinse in. It won't hurt; it'll actually help the cuticle lay down, which is good, because that bleach fried your hair. And, you can put the rinse over the entire head, or just the back portion; it's up to you. Just know that when you wash your hair, it'll bleed black and red, because of the 2 rinses.

Wanting to dye/rinse African American hair?

Q. I have been natural since June 2009 and I want to dye or either rinse my hair. I am still transiting, but I am not sure if I should dye or rinse, i don't want to damage my hair, and it starts to fall out. This is my only fear. This will be my first time using any color on my hair!

Answer
i think a rinse is better bcuz u can test differnt colors and it may not damage your hair as much as dye

What should I do with my hair (picture)?

april2008

I really want to change my hair a little. Nothing too drastic, I want to stay a brunette, maybe different colored highlights or something. Anyone have any suggestions of hair cuts/colors that might look good on me?

(Please let me know if this link doesn't work.)
Oh I should probably add... I have a colic, so bangs are very difficult for me :(

Answer
Your hair looks rich in color and health. Perhaps changing your part to a side part, and getting layers would be simple, yet have a complete effect on your whole look. I recently read in Sophisticate Hair Magazine that bangs can change up a whole look, and I completely agree. Full fringe can be a beautiful or terrible fashion error. If you decide to try the look, be sure to get your bangs thinned by a professional so that they aren't bulky, and they flow with your face frame. Side bangs are always trendy, but try something a little edgy ;]

As for color, I love the color you have now, but maybe just a shade darker would do you justice. Perhaps something like...

or perhaps a violet tint...

and I loveeee Kristen Stewart's Hair color.

Guys, which hair color on women is hotter?

im not nic

Be specific, like DARK, MEDium, LIGHT or pale or jet black

Or crazy colors like purple or blue

Answer
I like natural brunettes. I don't like highlights or hair dye.

Actually, I dig natural in general. I don't want a barbie doll (drama).

No make-up, no trendy fashionista, no fake hair, no fake nails.

Good hygiene and keeping yourself well-kept are the hottest things you can do. ;) Be smart -- those are possibly the most attractive qualities in a girl. Funny is a plus too.

Do highlights hide gray hair well?

r4tx

I am 39 yrs old and have 50% gray hair along my hair line only. I have medium brown hair to begin with, so every 3 weeks I color only the regrowth with Loreal professional Excellence cream. My gray hair has recently started looking white, due to my illnesses (melasma/thyroid disease) and gene pool I come from. I am wondering if just starting to highlight it will help and let it start growing out naturally. I have been dying my hair for 10 years and is expensive and getting stressfull. I look very young for my age, but my grays age me about 10 years. I have tried semi-permanent, demi permanent and Herbal Essence, they just made my roots look orange. Should I go for blond highlights or more of a caramel brown highlights? I wawnt something I dont have to do every 3 weeks!
Best answer will receive the 10 points.
I do not use strore brand, I use Professional Loreal from Sally's

Answer
highlights may be the way to go but i would never get them done UNLESS you do it professionally (and that is a bit expensive) you should go to a salon and get your hair dyed with a good dye not store brand ones and then go back as needed to put toner on your hair. it will hold better and the color will be stronger plus having soemone do your hair and make you look pretty is much more fun than stressing over it yourself

Is there any natural hair coloring (similar to henna) for dark blonde hair that will hide greys?

Verka

I would like to find a coloring for my dark blonde-light brown hair, that will cover my greys. I've got about 10% grey now and its becoming too obvious. I don't want to wreck my hair or make it feel like carpeting, when I used bleaches or dyes in the past thats how it felt. I think henna is often too red for my complexion but I liked how it made my hair feel. Does anyone know of a solution for me?

Answer
Even though I deal with henna, I have seen some customers say cassia obovata brings out their golden rays and after repeated use covers up some of the grey but it doesn't do a great job still because it does not have much of any dye. If you want to have brown tones you can use henna along with indigo, and even henna with coffee to tone down the red tones so it won't be so bright.
Also use only 100% pure henna powder (Body Art Quality is best and safest).

Other option I have had a customer explain to me, was vegetable based dyes. I saw a woman who had reddish highlights (like a strawberry blond) using veggies based dyes.

im not asking if you think shes pretty ot not
im asking if her color would look good on me or not

Answer
Wow, you're hair is very healthy looking, I love it. I think maybe you should get it cut shorter and get side bangs. I don't think you should go for Bella's look necessarily, so I'll just give you some beautifully brunette tips :).

Ok in the first pic, its not to bad, but in the second pic, you can see why its a problem. Do I have the wrong color? I can't stand dry ends, and I'm starting to get them. What would look best on me, also I like longer hair.http://s464.photobucket.com/albums/rr2/snowydownfall/?action=view&current=h2.jpg http://s464.photobucket.com/albums/rr2/snowydownfall/?action=view&current=trm1.jpg
Also I am in my thirties, so I don't want to look like I'm trying to be too trendy.
Ok as for the comment that I look like a heavy drinker...thanks alot for that self esteem boost....Actually i don't drink or smoke, but that second pic is horrible, lol, I didnt know how bad it looked till I clicked on it. Its all weird and furry looking...lol
ok, ok, as for the fingers in my mouth making me look like i'm trying to be a pretteen, my son was in the back seat and took that picture of me, as I was looking out the back of the car, trying to see if my husband was coming out of the store yet....lol...so it was not an intentional dorky thing...there you feel better?

Hair colouring advice?

I never coloured my hair before. I wanted to know what things i should know for colouring my hair. i once heard that you shouldn't colour your hair with a colour that is 2 shades darker than your original hair colour. i'm not really sure but it's something like that?

Answer
Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.
Example: "My hair is right about armpit length as it is, but I've severely damaged it by bleaching it all at once. As a student of cosmetology myself, I would have to say that it was probably one of the worst mistakes I could have ever made."
Another example: ok i did my hair yesterday i DIDN'T bleach it ,but im not sure what its called but she took the color out of my hair and then dies it a blond color and my head was on fire it killed me so after that i hated my hair color so i colored it my self a darker color, it looked so ugly and it burned me again it rully hrt so after i washed it my mom checked it for me and found small spots of blood all over my top scalp like over 20 of em now im scared and don't know why its there is it from the color am i sick and something is wrong ??

It's not a this or that answer.

Right now, I have no clue the texture & condition of your hair. What color you see on the box, there is never a guarantee your hair will look exactly like that. Since we have no idea the original color of your hair NOW.

Hair dyes, which include home hair colouring kits and those used at pricey salons, are linked to deadly cancer-causing chemicals, warn scientists. In 2009 the Mail revealed that women who used hair dyes more than nine times a year had a 60% greater risk of contracting blood cancer.
A year later the European Commission banned 36 hair dyes which put long-term users at risk of bladder cancer. < < < <â¨

What hair color would suit fair skin?

Lauren

Right now my hair is a medium brown, and I want to dye it a natural looking brown-black color. Ive seen some of my friends w fair skin pull off this color and even jet black, but on me the dark black would look goth.... what type of fair skin can pull off very dark hair?

Answer
anyone can pull dark hair off, you just got to have confidence and because your hairs already a brown it would not be as dramatic as going from blonde to black.
but if you dye your hair black its hard to get it back to a light colour again.
plus you don't have to go to just black, black hair looks good with tints in it like purple / red.
but i would suggest you go for a semi dark brown least that way you would know if you prefer going darker or lighter

What is the best hair color for fair skinned white girls???

unknown pe

I need to know also if you guys could get a haircut it is for my prom i need a new color and hair cut

thank you soo much

Answer
From experience as a very pale white girl, I've found that the color that works best with my skin tone and blue eyes, is Burgundy. It's a really deep red with a purplish over tone for the first few days, but after that it fades to a nice deep red. I have Irish roots so it really fits well with me.

Another color that I found that looked good was a dirty blonde, not a bright California blonde. The dirty blonde seemed to make me look a little less pale, and the hair color looked more natural than the bright blonde which I had also tried.

Don't stray too far from your natural hair color as it will look fake until people get use to seeing you with it, and it will continue to look fake if you don't keep your roots touched up on a regular basis. Keep it looking natural and you'll get lots of compliments on it.

hair color developer?

paulsbaby_

can i add developer to my store bought hair dye to make it lighter? creme or clear if yes i have volume 30 creme and clear and i am trying to go from brown to lightest blond possible i can't afford bleach so its outta the question and I have like 5 different blondes from loreal

Answer
Good question. Today I bought 30 volume and 40 volume developer and several hair colors designed for women with dark hair. I think I have everything I need but not bleach. I have naturally dark brown hair and I'm looking for dark blond and light brown highlights. I'm curious to hear the other responses.

I've heard that if you use 40 volume cream on dark hair then it will turn orange or yellow first. Be careful about damage.

The best thing you can do to see if it works is mix a 1:1 ratio of the developer with the dye in a small amount, then test a nice snip of your hair for the recommended time (mine is 30 minutes). Check the result and see if it's what you want.

Hair Dye Color & Developer Question!

muffin

I just dyed my hair about two weeks ago to a medium dark brown, which was supposed to be a light brown. The guy at the beauty supply store recommended a brand called Da Vinci that's supposedly really good, but I have yet to find anything about the brand online (I think he just recommended it to me because it was the most expensive). Light brown from that brand actually turned out to be the color of my hair right now, so I bought "dark blonde", which is the color I was aiming for last time. He also recommended a 20 developer. I'm a little hesitant about using the color because the guy didn't seem to know much about hair, he looked like was the owner's husband who was forced to work there.

Basically, I have 2 questions.

1) Is dark blonde usually a light brown color, or is it more of a dirty blonde that I imagine in my head? It looked like a nice light brown on the sample, but the "blonde" in the name really makes me think twice about what color it's gonna turn out to be.

2) Is 20 developer right? I would think that since my hair is sort of dark, I'd need a 30 since I'm trying to lighten my hair up quite a bit.

Thanks in advance! :)
Yes, the hair dye was permanent =( The brand was called "Satin". My hair was already a dyed medium brown to start with. I tried lightening it up about two shades to a lighter brown, but the Satin hair dye it didn't change one bit, lol. So going to a professional is really my only choice at this point?

Answer
Your situation is kind of tricky. If I understood correctly, you dyed your hair two weeks ago to what is now a medium brown. You wanted it lighter so you went back to the store and bought light brown, used it and it stayed medium brown. Now you want to use dark blonde, to make it a light brown. Right?

If I got the story right... a couple questions for you. What kind of hair dye did you use two weeks ago? Permanate? If so that is why your hair didn't lighten when you dyed it the second time around. Permanent hair dye is tricky. If you use it on hair that has never ever been colored on it can lighten your hair to a lighter shade or you can use it to go darker, but if you use it on hair that already has color on it, you can only go darker. Color won't lighten color. The only way you can get it lighter at this point is if you wait for it to fade, and hope if fades enough, wait for it to grow out, or use something that has a lightener (bleach) in it. Unfortunately, If it was permanent hair dye you used to get it medium brown two weeks ago, the dark blonde hair dye you just bought probably isn't going to do a thing to be completely honest.

Hopefully I've helped. If you really want it lighter, your best bet is to go to a salon. Good Luck!

ADDITIONAL- Unfortunately, If you want it light, I really believe that going to see a professional is your best option. You could attempt to do it yourself, but if not done correctly after you lighten it (which you'll have to do) you can very easily put another color on it (say a light brown) and if it's not the exact color and tone to compliment/neutralize what it lightened to it could very easily go back just as dark as it was. If that option is too expensive you could always have a "heavy weave" done. But I still believe it's best to have a professional give you advice. It's hard to judge how difficult it would be in your particular case without being in front of you hair.. but from the looks of it you're honestly not going to get 2 shades lighter unless you use a prelightener (bleach) or Satin color you used has a strong fade in the next couple of weeks. Just another warning also: if you buy another hair dye that is "light brown" and try to dye it after a couple months of so thinking it might lighten because it's old....Your going to end up with stripes of color as it will lighten all of your roots and regrowth, but nothing else.

Good Luck!

Will colorful hair be a job interview killer?

wadupwitda

I want purple. pink, and blue dip dye hair in a few months. I am a senior in high school and am turning 18 in May (so the look doesn't exactly look too young on me). This is about the same time I take a test to become a certified nursing assistant though. I plan on working in a nursing home until I finish college (I actually want to become a dietitian). Is it bad to have funky colored hair for an interview?

Answer
I don't think that color will really make people think negative of you. If you want to dye your hair, start with a slightly less intense color. If you have blonde hair, use light red, light pink, or light orange at the tips of your hair. If you have brown hair, dark green or dark blue at the roots will do. Same for black hair. But if you are really scared, the best option is to get the job first, and after a couple weeks, you can dye your hair.

What color should I dye my hair for job interviews?

undercover

I'm a law student and thinking about either dying my hair black or some version of a dark reddish brown. Also if anyone has any tips on haircuts that are edgy yet great for the firm

Answer
My Sister has dyed her hair blond for years, and recently she changed it to a rich chesnut brown colour. She immediately looked more 'serious', more intelligent, mature, sophisticated. It may have helped her get jobs, because she has been working in higher paying office jobs ever since !! Her brown colour was fairly solid, not a lot of streaky highlights, that's a dated look. A good style would be one that is not past the shoulders, (which can make you look too young), layered softly throughout, with a pretty and soft angled fringe to frame your eyes and soften your forehead. This look is versatile because you can pull it back tightly, swoop the bangs forward or back off your face, iron it straight, or let it dry naturally to show off your natural waves/curls, if you have them. That way, you can be conservative at work if need be, yet still have the femininity factor afterwards. Good Luck with your career :-)

Ancient Egypt has been proven to be a Cushitic (Caucasoid) civilization, as there are no pure cushites in this and the closest have been the tigrinya people of Eritrea at 90%. This y-DNA in it's purest form can give european features such blond hair/red hair, nordic nose, colored eyes as it is a genetic mutation from E3b. Why else do you think the ancient Egyptians excelled in architecture, civil engineer and chemistry? Why couldn't Bantu-Saharan or e1b1a (west Africans) repeat the same things if they were the same people? Now I understand why black anthropologists are referred to as "uncle toms", afrocentricity does not promote realism.

Answer
It has been confirmed that the Ancient and Modern Egyptians were/are Arab Semitic White, NOT, the Black Nubians,NOR Indo Eropean Aryan White, by DNA and anthropological skeletal(mainly the skull) measurements, but Afro centrists, and, other misinformed keep insisting on HEARSAY, they were Black. There was was mixing of the two different ethnicities.DO VISIT THE LINKS TO CLARIFY THINGS FOR YOU.

he Middle Easterners whom are Arab Semitic White(ancient and modern Egyptians are Arab Semitic White),and, generally have olive(golden brown) skin color, dark hair, and eyes-being Caucasian, a small percentage runs the same gamut as Indo European Aryan Whites. Arabs and the Southern Europeans are often mistaken for each other.Genetic tests on the Ancient Egyptian mummies and Modern Egyptians say yes, Egyptians, both Ancient and modern, are Arab Semitic White. They were Arab Semitic White since 5000 B.C.-Afro centrists often attempt to portray the Black Nubian-Sudanese-Kemetian slaves as the Ancient Egyptians- before that, the, region was populated by Blacks, most were driven out or assimilated through rape and consensual unions-there were indeed Black Nubian Pharoahs whom ruled from about 800-700 B.C.-helpful links:

Egypt is and was 65% Arab Semitic White, 30% Black/Arab Semitic White mixes-Hamites are now considered around a 50%-50% mix-i.e.-the late Anwar Sadat, models- Iman, Lila Kebedde, and Arab (Soul Train), all had Arab Semitic White fathers and Black mothers. Berbers and Moors are essentially Arabs with 8-15% Black heritage.5% are from all other ethnic groups. If you start in Northern(Lower Egypt) and move south towards Southern(Upper) Egypt, it is mostly Arab Semitic White, than gradually becomes more mixed with Black becoming increasingly more predominate(Egypt annexed part of Black Nubia in 1521 B.C. to make up its lower south western corner). As you move into Sudan(50% Arab-50% Black) , it becomes more Black. Sudan is part of Arab North Africa(1/3 of Africa). Ethiopia and Somalia are each 1/3 Arab and 2/3 Black.

NOTE: There is NO such thing as a Black Arab. People confuse Nationality and ethnicity. There are Black Egyptians like there are Black Germans, but there are NO Black Indo European Aryan Whites, like there are NO Black Arab Semitic Whites. There are ONLY mixes as mentioned above. The News media often perpetuates this misconception by calling the Janjaweed of Sudan, Black Arabs. These are Black Sudanese whom turned against their own Black ethnicity, and, accepted Islam, learned Arabic, and accepted Arabic customs, much as if they accepted Cathlocism, learned German, and accepted Indo European Aryan customs.

Egypt was the crossroads of many cultures ,and, probably has one of the most diversified populations on the planet. All pharoahs were known for their fertility-Rhamses II fathered over one hundred children from women of all ethnic backgrounds-we can dream cann't we, guys.

For those who claim Cleopatra was Black, thousands of busts, drawings, paintings, and other likenesses(i.e.-coins) of her, along with written descriptions of her, from that time period, exist. One look and you can tell she is NOT Black(did not say she was Semitic White/White either-she is Greek(Indo European White),but definitely, not all ,if any, Black either), although she may possibly have some Black ancestry. Her half sister was half White(Greek)-half Black.

The scholars seem to agree: Cleopatra was the last in a line of PtolemiesâMacedonian Greeks(Whites)âwho ruled Egypt from the death of Alexander the Great in 305 B.C. until Antonyâs defeat in the battle of Actium in 31 B.C. The Ptolemies, as was the custom, were an incestuous, intermarrying peoples (to preserve the royal bloodline),also often having relations with the courtiers and concubines who filled their palaces. Many of the children born of these unions were given a place in the royal lineage despite being illegitimate, the secret unspoken.

Many believe that Cleopatraâs father was the product of such a unionâhis mother may have been a concubine from Nubia(Black) or Alexandria(White). Lending credence to this theory is the fact that Cleopatraâs bond to the people of Egypt seemed greater than those of her Ptolemic ancestors, who aligned themselves culturally and linguistically with Greece.

The Badari are actually a hybrid of Black(Nubian)/Arab Semitic White- Mulattos-Hamites whom predominated in Southern Egypt.

Numerous anthropological studies were performed on Badarian crania after two successful excavations conducted in the mid- to late-1920s. The usual result was that the Badarians were African ***HYBRIDS***(emphasis mine). Notably in 1971 Physical Anthropologist Eugen Strouhal re-analyzed over a dozen independent scientific studies (a couple of which were his own) performed previously and summarized their results to arrive at a similar conclusion: "mixture of races." Recent re-analyses of previous studies, including Professor Strouhal's paper, reveal that only West and South African skulls were included in the baseline for a determination of "true n*egro" though, while the typically elongated East African skull forms were disregarded, assumed not to indicate true blacks. Some recent studies additionally suggest a modal metric phentoype in Badarian crania that is much more similar to the Tropical African series than to the various other samples studied.

Near the end of his paper (1971), Professor Strouhal further enumerated several archaeological studies that suggest a migration of culture, practice and belief from African regions located to the west and south of the Badarian sites. Strouhal's work is noted in a 2005 study of the Badari which concluded: "The Badarians show a greater affinity to indigenous Africans while not being identical. This suggests that the Badarians were more affiliated with local and an indigenous African population than with Europeans. It is more likely that Near Eastern/southern European domesticated animals and plants were adopted by indigenous Nile Valley people without a major immigration of non-Africans. There was more of cultural transfer.":

Caucasoid â E (only subclade E1b1b is a Caucasoid marker-all other sublades of E are N*egroid haplomarkers), F(Semites), H, I, J(Semites-1 & 2), K, L3(Semites), T, U, V(Semites), W, X, Y.

Mongoloid(anthropologists now include American Indians(Red) and Malaysians(Brown) ethnicities in this group â C, D, F, G, O, Q, S- American Indians also have A, B, and X.

N*egroid â A, B , E(except for subclade E1b1b which is a Caucasoid haplomarker), L1 & L2, M & N-all groups have these, but certain subclades are restricted to Blacks-presence of N in Blacks is not clearly defined and is possibly considered due to genetic backflow rather than present normally.

M, N - is present in ALL ethnicities, but certain subclades are restricted to only Blacks.

P, R, Z - Caucasoid and Mongoloids only, not Blacks.

A better question is why do Black Nubians always try to claim Arab achievements as their own?

Diodorus Siculus as well as the Ethiopans indicate the Egyptians are different from the Ethiopians whose armies occupied Egypt for a short time until the Arabs drove them out."They [the Ethiopians] say also that the Egyptians are colonists sent out by the Ethiopians, Osiris ["King of Kings and God of Gods"] having been the leader of the colony . . . they add that the Egyptians have received from them, as from authors and their ancestors, the greater part of their laws." Diodorus's declared intention to trace the origins of the cult of Osiris, alias the Greek Dionysus also commonly known by his Roman name Bacchus. The Homeric Hymn locates the birth of Dionysus in a mysterious city of Nysa "near the streams of Aegyptus [Egypt]" (Hesiod 287). Diodorus cites this reference as well as the ancient belief that Dionysus was the son of Ammon, king of Libya (3.68.1), and much of Book 3 of the Bibliotheka Historica [Library of History] is devoted to the intertwined histories of Dionysus and the god-favored Ethiopians whom he believed to be the originators of Egyptian civilization.[emphasis added]: http://wysinger.homestead.com/strabo.htmâ¦

The Ancient Egyptians borrowed heavily, including their hieroglyph system, from the slightly older(100-200 years) ADVANCED Black Nubian tribe Ta-Seti.

is the okapi a member of the horse family?

endgame191

Answer
Family: Giraffidae
Okapis are found only in the tropical forests of northeastern Zaire. They prefer altitudes between 500 and 1,000 m, although they may venture above 1,000 m in the eastern montane rainforests. One sighting occurred at 1,450 m on Mt. Hoyo, in the upper Ituri. The range of the okapi is limited by high montane forests to the east, swamp forests below 500 m to the west, savannas of the Sahel/Soudan to the north, and open woodlands to the south. Okapis are most common in the Wamba and Epulu areas.

The okapi has a form superficially resembling that of a horse. Average body length is 2.5 m, and average height at the shoulder is 1.5 m. The neck is relatively long in comparison to that of other ruminants, and the ears are large and flexible. The body is chocolate-brown, with creamy white horizontal stripes on the legs and hindquarters and white stockings on the ankles. The cheeks, throat, and chest are whitish-gray or tan (Bodmer 1992). The unique color pattern of the okapi allows it to disappear into the background of dense vegetation and rotting leaves where it lives (Grzimek 1990). Male okapis have hair-covered horns not exceeding 15 cm in length. The horns are fused to the frontal bones over the orbits and project rearward. Females may be slightly red in color, lack horns, and average 4.2 cm taller than males. Both males and females have interdigital glands on the front and hind feet (Bodmer 1992). The most giraffe-like feature of the okapi is the long black tongue which is used for plucking buds, leaves, and branches from trees and shrubs as well as for grooming (Kingdon 1979). In addition, the walking gait of the okapi closely resembles that of a giraffe. Both giraffe and okapi simultaneously step with the front and hind leg on the same side of the body rather than moving alternate legs on either side like other ungulates.

Gray hairs popping out, help!?

Michele

I have had a few gray hairs here and there since I turned 40, they were never a problem, they hardly showed. Now I turned 44 and they are taking over my head. I have always used hair color, applied by a stylist, an all over color with highlights. I used to go about 12 weeks between appts, because I was dealing with roots, not grays. Now grays are popping out within 2 weeks of my last appt. I can't afford to spend $100 + every 2 weeks to cover these uglies! What can I do? I have tried box formulas before and the color always turns out bad on me, I am med/dark brunette with gold highlights. How long should my color last to cover these grays?

Answer
This answer won't change the color of your hair but may slow the progression. Try using emu oil shampoo together with hair nutrition vitamins. Your hair is losing its "color" resulting in the gray tones. Emu oil shampoo penetrates the hair shaft and works well for slowing the progression of gray hair.

To completely hide the color, try a color enhancing shampoo. It will help subdue the color without expensive coloring treatments.

MY COUSiNS GRAY HAIR??

Q. My 13 year old cousin woke up one morning and came runnin in my room because she had one gray hair on her head..She is going through alot of stress with her grades, friends, and a boy she likes. Did it happen just because of stress??? And can I tell her that it will go away?? I also found out that her grandma got gray hair at 15 but her mom got gray hair at 30? So is it just Stress or Genes? And will it stop growing? Oh yea....she also told me that she takes hot showers and I heard it can stop blood from traveling to you hair??? HELP!!!!

Answer
Hair becomes white or grey due to the lack of pigment melanin in the hair. Since hair consists of dead cells, once grey or white hair is formed it cannot be changed. Hairs seems to become grey overnight, if the pigmented hair falls off quickly. The age at which a person's hair becomes white depends on hereditary factors, but diet , lifestyle and stress can also cause premature graying . . Some of the home remedies for preventing formation of grey or white hair are:

1. Amla or Indian gooseberry is a popular home remedy. If fresh amla are available , a paste of amla can made and applied to the hair. Dry amla can be ground into a powder, mixed with water and massaged into the hair. Otherwise amla hair oil can applied to the hair. Dried amla is also available for eating

2. Take black tea (without milk or sugar) and massage it on the roots of the hair. Leave it on the hair for an hour and then wash it away. This will coat the hair strand, hide the grey colour.

3.Massage the scalp with coconut oil (with lemon) or almond oil. Vegetable and essential oil also contain nutrients for slowing the greying of hair.

4. Processed foods and junk foods contain many preservatives and should be avoided. Fish and other seafood contain iodine which is required for melanin production. Also eat nuts and other food which contain copper.

5.Some people have used a mixture of blackstrap molasses, brewer's yeast and wheat germ to prevent formation of grey hair. However, blackstrap molasses may not be available in all countries.

6.Curry leaves are boiled in coconut oil and the mixture can be applied to the hair to prevent formation of white hair. Ribbed gourd should be soaked in coconut oil for 3 to 4 days and the mixture should be boiled. The oil produced should be massaged into the scalp.

Where to find hair color that requires separate developer?

Julia

Where would I go to purchase hair color that come separate from the developer? I know Loreal Hiclor Hilights requires this, but I'm looking for regular hair color rather than hair highlights. Most of the store- bought sem-permanent dyes don't work very well with dark hair, and I think if I use a hair dye with a high volume developer of my own choice it will work better.

Answer
Sally beauty supply sell's hair dye separate from the developer. L'Oreal hi-color highlights? are you trying to dye your hair red? I dyed my hair red before with that hair dye and it was dark brown. Just dye your hair once with one box with a 30 developer and then dye it a second time again with a 20 developer and it will be a really vibrant color.

How do you use hair color developer?

Kimberly

I want to go to Sallys tomorrow and buy a hair color developer because I want my hair a lighter brown. I will probably get the 30. The thing is though, how do I use it? There is no tutorials on how to use it. I tried to dye my hair lighter brown yesterday but it didn't work because my hair is so dark. And it has been dyed black before. But do I buy hair dye and mix it with the developer? How much do I use? Help me please! I wanna do this right. Thanks! xx

Answer
OK the deal with developer is that you want to use equal parts. Most hair color tubes are 2 oz. so you would want to add 2 oz of developer to the color. If you use 2 tubes of hair color then you would add 4 oz of developer to the color. But ALWAYS read the instructions because there are some times when you may have to mix the developer a little differently but in general most of the time its equal parts.
Now when you go to Sally's tomorrow check out their L'Oreal Excellence collection - that is formaulated for people with darker hair. This is a safer way to lift your hair and get the color you desire. You can read about it on Sally's website I'll put the link for you in the source box.
