Answer
I've had frizzy hair before and there are 'tricks' to manipulate hair, and products aren't working for you there are tricks.

I wouldn't recommend them. There are many brands of hair straightening out there and they call them anyway they want to get your attention. Coco is another name brand. Some Japanese hair straightening processes can damage the hair and leave it flat and lifeless.
None is better than the other.

Keratin are not approved by the FDA. Visit their website & search for it in their web. If you're thinking about the Brazilian treatment, there's a danger about using formaldehyde, a chemical that causes cancer. The FDA does not restrict the use of that chemical in cosmetics.

A hairstylist in Portland, Or. is blowing a whistle on the treatment.

(Type it in if they moved the page. "After hairstylist becomes suspicious of Brazilian Blowout, tests find formaldehyde".

Stylists and clients often wear gas masks or other protective equipment and still may feel the ill effects of this potentially fatal gas.

Many customers and stylists do not know that this Brazilian treatment often contains high concentrations of formaldehyde, a cancer-causing chemical.

Relaxers are for permanent, but they are damaging to hair.

Go to the FDA website & type in permanent or relaxers so you understand what are the side effects.

Here's the newest news:
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently seized tens of thousands of bottles of "Rio" hair relaxer products after determining they can cause severe hair loss or turn hair green.

The FDA last month warned consumers not to use "Rio Hair Naturalizer Systems," a product imported from Brazil and sold through television infomercials by World Rio Corp. of Los Angeles.

The official complaints against hair straightening products range from serious hair breakage and hair damage to serious scalp burns that may require an emergency room visit.
Example of what one suffering severe hair loss after Japanese Hair Straightening from YA HAIR:
I got my hair rebonded back in March and have lost more than a third of it since then. Everytime I run my hands through my hair, I lose 7-10 strands on average!
In the shower I lose clumps after shampooing and conditioning.
Bald spots are showing up in my hair.
I used to have beautiful thick hair, ho can I get it back?

Another ex: I used to have very curly, beautiful hair..and then i got it chemically straightened..DONT DO IT! when it started growing out, it was mess and even more difficult to work with than before. and once it was completely grown out, my hair was no longer curly..it is now this aweful wavy mess, and only certain spots are still curly.

Example of one Trick: One method to make it look fuller, add body, bouncier, thicker, softer & shiny hair is to set your hair with plastic curlers after you towel dry, you'll end up with uniform balance of curls. Blow dry briefly while curling them in curlers. Take them out, and finger comb to style. Used by the best hair color models, and the fashion industry, like Victoria Secret Fashion Show Dec. 2009, America's Next Top Models, EXPRESS, Dancing with the Stars . . . . and continued to be used today where salons care about pampering your hair. When you see hair on TV a hair color commercial, they're not done by curling or straightening tools. Hair that shines like that and feels like hair, not hay, has to be done by the best hair tools available w/out damaging to the hair. When you take the curlers out, finger comb to style or lightly brush. Tousle the hair up. or shake your hair. You can use large, medium or small curlers, that depends on the length of your hair.

Hair relaxants and l'oreal Iona hair color questions...? (please no stupid answers)?

thatasiand

1. Which should be done first: Relax hair or color it with l'oreal Iona (no ammonia)?

2. Do hair relaxants contain ammonia?

3. Imma have my hair relaxed every year and colored with Inoa, is it safe?

4. Is there a risk of Inoa coloring my hair in a lighter shade? What about darker shade?

A hairstylist in Portland, Or. is blowing a whistle on the treatment. Google hair dyes & cancer spec. black hair dyes which is made from tar. Some people smoke & tan all their lives and do not get cancer. But there are 2nd hand & 3rd hand smoke who are now carrying their oxygen tank so they can breath or have cancer. Same with hair dyes. I've responded 3 in the last 15 mins. 9-26-10. If you're not affected today, or next month, you may never be affected and you're one of the lucky ones. It doesn't take overnight, it takes years of hair experimentation with hair dyes.

Here's a new article I found re: henna, which is supposed to be better for you than reg. box dye. It's a good read!

One example on someone who had re-bleached her hair now they're falling out.

SECONDLY: Hair dye is another chemical. You're putting one on top of the other, which means you have more risk in hair falls or cancer to both.
