Okay, I am a novice when it comes to this sort of thing, so here it goes: What is in for fashion this Fall and Winter? Colors, textures, graphics/patterns, accessories such as jewerly and belts, suits, etc? For beauty, what makeup looks are in for these seasons? The last thing I want to look is outdated. What colors are in for eyeshadow, polish, mascara, lipstick, flavor for lipgloss(most popular), and blush? I would like your opinion on makeup looks for holidays or parties too please, same goes with clothing. If this helps I am a plus size woman with a round face so please do this around my body type and/or face shape if at all possible. And for the makeup I have light brown hair and blue eyes. Thanks a bunch!!! =)

Answer
I don't tend to change my make-up with the season - I was always taught that it was most ladylike to wear as little as you need, and stick with muted, natural colours. I always use Elizabeth Arden Light-1 powder and matching foundation, cream coloured eyeshadow, a little rose blush and brown mascara. The brown colour really makes blue eyes "pop." If it's a special occasion, I wear cinnamon coloured lipstick, very natural, and brown eyeliner.

You should try brushing on your blush (or dabbing, if it's liquid blush) on an angle to make your face look longer and slimmer.

In winter I always stick with lots of wool and woolly-looking fabrics - wool skirts, tweedy pants, that sort of thing, in houndstooth, tartans or checks - textured, wintery patterns, and pair it with clingy, slim sweaters. I own black, brown, and a bright red one - black and brown are slimming and will go with nearly any clothing, whereas the red complements my very white skin. I usually stick with darker, earthy colours. Either that, or I wear plain, dark pants or a pencil skirt with a businessy blouse worn underneath a tight v-neck sweater.

If I'm doing business with someone that day, I wear a long, pointy-toed shoe with a low heel. The long, pointy shape of the shoe really makes your leg look thinner. If it's just me around the office or at a friend's house, I just wear a pair of tidy-looking black slip-on flats that I bought at Payless.

I wear a lot of to-the-knee wool coats, paired with tight leather or microfibre gloves. My favourite colours for coats are navy and black, as they're very slimming, with dark gloves. I pair that with one of those Indian pashmina-style scarves in a bright colour.

I personally like wearing big, clunky earrings, though I can't really do that at the office. I also like strings of pearls or Czech glass necklaces in shiny colours. If I'm out on the town, I'll wear clunky jewelry, a black dress, and some trendy looking shoes - stiletto heels in patent leather, maybe, or some glittery or metallic peep-toed heels.

Remember, certain pieces of clothing will never become out of date, and can be dressed up with cheap jewelry and shoes - a little black dress, a blouse and pencil skirt, etcetera.

I personally have a certain style because I'm young and in a conservative profession. Pick up a copy of Vogue, or poke around Fashionologie.com or a similar site, and pick things that attract you.
