Answer
Before I respond, read the following:
Personality & health risks.
There is a strong belief among some people that a personâs hair color can tell you some about their personality.  A new study out of Harvard suggests hair color can also tell you about a personâs health risks
Top doctors say you can tell a lot about a personâs health from their hair color:
-Blondes have a higher risk of melanoma, especially on their scalps, and should always wear a hat in direct sunlight.
-Brunettes are more likely to suffer from hair loss, and can help prevent it by getting enough iron (dark leafy vegetables are high in iron).
-And a Harvard study finds redheads may have a 90% greater chance of developing Parkinsonâs Disease because of a specific gene mutation. Housecall for Health, Iâm Colleen Cappon, FOX News Radio. 12-10-12

MY ANSWER:
Best At-Home Haircolor
L'Oreal & Clairol, have been tested by women of all ages, and approved & recently published by the Good Housekeeping magazine for July or Aug. 2011, I can't remember which magazine issue I read from my doctor's office. Google it

There's a reason why those two have been around for over 5 decades. They've formulated their ingredients and improved it since then, don't you think?

dying my hair blonde from brunette, is regular bleach the same as hair color bleach?

deppswife

I know dying my hair blonde from brunette is a dumb idea. So i dont need telling again. But i really dont want my hair to turn orangey....So can i mix a little bit of household bleach into the dye to make it lighter? Or will that completley kill my hair or turn it white? Please help.

Answer
household fabric bleach is chlorine bleach. bleach for lightening hair is hydrogen peroxide bleach. do not use household bleach on your hair.
if your hair is very dark, it may take two steps to lighten it to blonde. If you insist on doing it yourself instead of going to a haircare professional, you will need to get a bottle of 40-Volume peroxide from a hair supply store, along with a couple of packets of bleach powder, a brand like Quik-Blue or something like that. The clerk at the store will be able to guide you. Your hair will likely turn out orangish anyway, but after you have lightened your hair to blonde, you will THEN need to put a blonde haircolor on it. At this point you need to choose a blonde with a blue or purple or clear base. Do not choose red or gold bases (these will make it brassy) AND do not choose any ash blondes (these could go green). Choose a beige-blonde (again, the clerk can help) - you may also want to pick up some red-gold color correcter to tone down any brassiness.
When you finish with the bleach, your hair will probably feel coarse and straw-like, especially if you do two processes. If you can wait until the next day to color, do that. But the color has conditioners in it and your hair will feel better after your finished with it.
Good luck. (After all this, you may decide to go to a pro!!!!)
