14 year old hair loss?

Clare Anne

I am fourteen years old and I keep losing a lot of my hair. My hair is naturally thin but I can tell that it's thinning more. I haven't dyed my hair through out my life, I don't straighten it, I don't blow-dry it, I don't use any harsh chemicals in it. But I don't know why it keeps falling out. It mainly falls out in the shower and it's becoming noticeable. Luckily, there are no bald patches on my head, but around the parts of my hair ( like where I part my bangs) you can see more scalp, or it looks like the part is becoming wider D: .. does anyone know why this is happening and how I can stop it and grow back my lost hair?

Answer
Try buying vitamin supplements for your hair, especially since it is falling off. Your hair is probably very weak, so try hair masks that contain a lot of nutrients. And, the health of your body, shows in your hair. Vitamins:

Vitamin A - Daily Dose: 5,000 IU. Warnings: more than 25,000 IU daily is toxic and can cause hair loss and other serious health problems.

Food sources: Fish liver oil, meat, milk, cheese, eggs, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, apricots and peaches.

Vitamin B3 (niacin) - Promotes scalp circulation. Daily dose: 15 mg. Warnings: Taking more than 25 mg a day can result in "niacin flush" - a temporary heat sensation due to blood cell dialiation.

Food sources: Brewer's yeast, wheat germ, fish, chicken, turkey and meat.

Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) - Prevents graying and hair loss. Daily dose: 4-7 mg.

Food sources: Whole grain cereals, brewer's yeast, organ meats and egg yolks.

Food sources: Brewer's yeast, liver, whole grain cereals, vegetables, organ meats and egg yolk.

Vitamin B12 - Prevents hair loss. Daily dose: 2 mg.

Food sources: Chicken, fish, eggs and milk.
â¦

Vitamin C - Antioxidant that helps maintain skin and hair health, Daily Dose: 3,000-10,000 mg.

Food sources: Citrus fruits, strawberries, kiwi, cantaloupe, pineapple, tomatoes, green peppers, potatoes and dark green vegetables.

Vitamin E - It improves health and growth of hair. Daily dose: Up to 400 IU. Warnings: Can raise blood pressure and reduce blood clotting. People taking high blood pressure medication or anticoagulants should check with their doctors before taking Vitamin E supplements.

Food sources: Cold-pressed vegetable oils, wheat germ oil, soybeans, raw seeds and nuts, dried beans, and leafy green vegetables.

Biotin - Is very important for hair health, prevents graying and hair loss. Daily dose: Dosage: 50 mg 3 times daily.

Food sources: Brewer's yeast, whole grains, egg yolks, liver, brown rice, milk, green peas, lentils, oats, soybeans, sunflower seeds, walnuts.

Calcium - Essential for healthy hair growth. Daily dose: Up to 1,500 mg. Warnings: Too much calcium can inhibit the absorption of zinc and iron.

Food sources: Dairy, tofu, fish, nuts, brewer's yeast, beans, lentils and sesame seeds.

Copper - Helps prevent hair loss as well as defects in hair color and structure. Daily dose: Up to 3 mg. Warnings: High levels can lead to dry hair, hair loss and sever health problems.

Food sources: Shellfish, liver, green vegetables, whole grains, eggs, chicken and beans.

Inositol - Is vital for hair growth, it keeps hair follicles healthy at the cellular level. Daily Dose: Up to 600 mg.

Hope that helps!

hair styling for boys, short hair, gel / wax etc.?

ATKay

i have short dark ginger/hazel hair.
ive used gel and wax for ages now and i wanna have a good style that suits me, i want to know what is the best gel / wax out there such as goldwell and pinoline but is there any more ?
The main help i need is how to style my hair basically.

Answer
It would help to know what style you are referring to by "short." I take "short" to mean a crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), butch cut, brush cut, flat top crew cut, or forward brush cut. If you are wearing one of the short pomp styles-crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- and the hair on the top of the head is correctly graduated in length to form the short pomp front, styling is a simple matter. A butch cut or brush cut are styled the same but can be more difficult to groom as the hair on the top of the head is not graduated in length and can require more wax.
1) Towel dry hair.
2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.
3) Transfer wax on to palms.
4) Smooth palms over hair.
5) Brush hair up off forehead to form short pomp front.
6) For a forward brush cut, brush hair forward rather than back off off forehead.
For a longer style such as a regular taper cut, I don't use wax or gel but just comb it so it air dries or blow dry it and then give a few short quick pumps of a super hold spritz to the hair near the front hairline that might fall on to the forehead.
This answer explains the basic short cuts. The first two links contained therein are quite informative:

Receding hairline or male pattern baldness?

King

I had noticed that I was losing lot of hair in my early twenties through until a year back and my hairline was receding near the temples...But in my late twenties...it seems to have stopped for 6 months to a year on its own..The hairline is not receding more..Is it Male pattern or is it just normal and I wont get totally bald?

Answer
The first and most important step is to do some self-diagnosis of your hair loss. Because you are young- under the average age of hair loss: (for men, anything younger than 30-45)âyou should begin by determining whether or not this hair loss seems temporary or permanent in nature. If large bundles of hair are coming out when washing your hair or very quickly, it is likely that your hair loss is temporary and caused by a stimulus other than genetic predisposition. If so, consult your physician first to ensure a proper diagnosis. If your hair loss seems permanent in natureâno regrowth of hair follicles, gradual loss, etc., there are a few steps to take. Primarily, though, you should start looking for treatment options to either completely halt the hair loss, retain what is left or promote new growth. In your case, it appears that your hair loss in permanent in nature.

Propecia is a prescription hair loss treatment that is prescribed for men only. Minoxidil (Rogaine) is rubbed directly onto the scalp and works for both men and women. Both can be effective in retaining existing hair â but it is rare for either to regrow cosmetically significant amounts of hair. It usually works best for hair loss at top and back of the scalp, where there is still some remaining hair. With both Propecia and Minoxidil treatments, consistency is key â once the treatments are stopped, any hair retained or regrown because of the drug will be lost in a matter of months.

Well chosen hairstyles can often hide hair loss effectively. Partial hairpieces or wigs are recommended if hair loss is severe.

Finally, there is hair transplantation- the only permanent solution to restoring your hair and hairline. Bosley has been hair restoration experts since 1974. During a hair transplant, healthy hairs are harvested from an area of the scalp with normal hair growth. Individual hairs are then placed into areas of hair loss. With over 200,000 procedures under its belt, Bosley physicians are experienced in producing results that are extremely natural looking. To learn more about hair restoration, you should contact a Bosley medical professional for a free consultation.

Low volume hair(thin hair) and wide forehead men hairstyle?

Kelvin

Being a teenager, I'm conscious about my hairstyle. The problem is, I have a wide forehead and thin hair. Every time I make my hair sideways, I look like a nerd with a medium haircut, like a big head with a low volume hair. It looks like an alien.

Can you suggest any hairstyle to me? I want an asian one.
It would be nice if you provide an image. Thank you.

Addt'l info:
round face
I'm a man x__x

Answer
With the round face, the hairstyle should be cut to slim the face. Very short styles that follow the curve of the head (such as a butch, burr, or a short crew cut) will emphasize roundness and should be avoided. Leaving the hair a bit longer/fuller and adding texture on top will help lengthen the face. Beards should be styled to slim the face as well.

If you have a wide forehead, try parting your hair in middle. Those with prominent foreheads might try a close arrangement of hair over forehead; wearing the hair brushed upward can also make a tall forehead seem a little shorter.

Decisions about receding hairlines depend a lot on how far the line has receded! For those who are just beginning to lose their hair in the front of the head, wearing the hair in a caesar cut or an otherwise forward style can help minimize a receding hairline. However, if your hairline pattern has advanced quite a ways backward, wearing the hair forward begins to look awkward and should be avoided. Very closely cropped styles look very good on a markedly receding hairline, and many men at this stage of hair loss will opt for the bald or nearly bald look. You may also want to consider adding a close-clipped full beard, a circle beard, or a van dyck to offset a receding hairline. A circle beard or a van dyck can give the face balance if you are wearing a bald or nearly-bald style.

Hair styles for men with short hair (14yo)?

Duh, it's

Ok so I'm 14 and I've been looking for things to do with my hair, right now my hair is like a number 8 buzz (that's hardly a buzz cut) I usually let it grow out to about an inch maybe 2. Anyway what are things I can do to it that won't take long and don't look too outstanding, nothing like spiking or gelling the shit out of it, just something simple and subtle that looks good, also I don't want to use a whole lot of products like spray, gel, moose, etc. I guess just water and maybe a little wax, that's all.
I have naturally light blonde hair

Answer
It sounds like you have a long brush cut, one inch across the entire top. Butch and brush cuts(long butch) fully suit relatively few guys. Other short styles include: crew cut, flat top crew cut, forward brush, ivy league. A barber with a good aesthetic sense can usually design a short pomp(pompadour) style- crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut- to fully suit most young guy's head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features. Try a medium crew cut or a short ivy league. Or if you want to ait a few weeks, then go for a longer ivy league. A barber is usually better at these styles than a stylist. For a wax, I like krew comb(jar variety), actually more of a hydrogenated wax. It will not build up in the hair.
medium crew cut:

ivy league(long crew cut) :

http://www.gstatic.com/hostedimg/d2e97250e0614ff6_large
Some barbers describe an ivy league as a crew cut just long enough to be parted and combed to the side, if so desired. An ivy league is usually worn with the hair brushed up off the forehead to form a short pomp front, and can also be worn with the short bangs brushed down on the forehead like a forward brush cut.
Edge: tapered or outlined
http://www.gstatic.com/hostedimg/9655e4d21019bc04_large
[crew cut above illustrates an outlined edge around the ear arches and an edge tapered to the skin at the nape of the neck. His crew cut is about 1.4" at the front hairline; 0.35" at the back of the crown; #1.5 blade around the ear arches and sideburns; #000 blade at the edge of hair growth at the nape of the neck.]
To know the approximate length of a hair in a photo of a particular style: measure the face length in the photo from the center of the front hairline to the tip of the chin; measure the hair in the photo; assume an average eight inch adult male face length; proportionally adjust the lengths of the face and hair in the photo by assuming the length of the face in the photo is eight inches.
To grow out a short summer style and have a nice looking style as it grows out and assuming an average rate of hair growth of 1/8" per week and haircuts every three weeks: short crew cut; medium crew cut; short ivy league; ivy league; long ivy league; regular taper cut. At this point there will be around three inches on top and the back and sides can start to grow over the ears and collar with haircuts every six to nine weeks to add shape and even up new growth.
A control wax will keep the hair looking well groomed at crew cut and ivy league length. A butch comb also helps- the small, flat, plastic, oval, pocket brushes that one finger fits through and barbers sell for about a dollar. A boar's bristle military brush is available for a few dollars and is nice to have at home.

http://www.yalealumnimagazine.com/issues/02_04/old_yale.html
Grooming any of the short pomp(pompadour) styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same and takes about a minute or two.
1) Towel dry hair.
2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.
3)Transfer wax to palms.
4) Smooth palms over hair.
5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front.
Whichever style you decide on, be sure to take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber. If you need photos of any of the styles discussed above let me know.
Good Luck!

Hi i need a good hairstyle for me,I am a guy! Can u attach a picture of a good a hairstyle i can try out that looks good and is there any tutorials for how to comb your hair nice and how to make your hair nice and all that.

All answers appreciated. Thank you!

Answer
There are a number of photos linked below. All of the styles are very easy to groom. There is an explanation of how to groom the shortest styles. A barber with a good aesthetic sense can usually design a regular layer/taper cut or one of the short pomp(pompadour) styles-crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut- to fully suit most young guy's head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features. Start with a longer style and then if you want a shorter style, try it next haircut.

Search the internet for images of soccer stars Steven Gerrard and Lukas Podolski for numerous examples of the ivy league and crew cut style. A minute dab of control wax will keep the hair looking well groomed at crew cut and ivy league length. I prefer krew comb, jar variety. A butch comb also helps with grooming the short pomp styles- the small, flat, plastic, oval, pocket brushes that one finger fits through and barbers sell for about a dollar. A boar bristle military brush is usually available for a few dollars and while too large for a guy to carry in his pocket, is nice to have at home.

Reasons for hair falling out?

Lynnette

So for just about a month I've noticed my hair falling out. I know hair falling out during the day is normal but mine seems to be more excessive than it used to be. It actually feels a lot thinner than it used to be. After I shower it's the worst, I hate brushing my hair because I don't like seeing all the hair come out. Throughout the day I can brush my fingers through my hair and it comes out every time. I've switched to using a wide tooth comb because I heard that helps and an organic shampoo and conditioner. Does anyone have any ideas of what may be wrong or if there's something I can do about it?
Okay maybe I should of been clear, I'm not balding. I'm 19 years old so thanks for the rude response.

Answer
Hair products are NOT made of glue to fix, prevent, reverse hair from getting damaged, or hair loss, or make them grow . . . . they are a trillion dollar business. They also do NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss caused by heat & chemicals - hair's worst enemies. ⢠Hair products may claim one or more benefits, but usually they do not have scientific base.â¨
"No hair product can change the hair's biology," says Eric Bone, senior VP of global research and innovation @ L'Oreal USA. "Products that 'repair' them are like glue used to put a broken vase back together. At the end of the day, it's still broke," says dermatologist Paul J. McAndrews, MD, a clinical professor @ the University of Southern California School of Medicine. "Overall, products are a temporary fix, although some can help prevent damage. But your best bet is really to stop damaging hair, period."
Example 1: "Hello, my hair is bleached and I've colored it alot in the past.
I haven't retouched my bleached hair in a month or two and my hair is Constantly breaking off!!! I'm losing SOOO much hair!!! Especially in the middle of my hairline
Ive been using Moroccan oil conditioner, olive oil masks and my hair is still breaking off! PLEASE HELP ME."

In the beauty industry, there is no industry-agreed meaning for terms like 'organic' or 'natural'. Unlike the food industry, these terms are not regulated for cosmetics which means companies can use these terms pretty freely.
Also, products like shampoo, conditioner and body wash are mostly made of water so therefore are mostly natural (because water is natural, right?). So if a shampoo is 90% water, then a company can simply claim "90% organic or natural" and be telling the truth. Certainly, this isn't in the spirit of what people believe organic to mean, but it is within the law.

"Organic skin care products are trendy, but that does not mean nonorganic ones are dangerous," Wendy E. Roberts, M.D. past president of the Women's Dermatologic Society.

Dove hairfall facts:
1. Humidity makes hair dry and brittle, leading to hairfall
2. Colouring the hair damages the hair strands leading to breakage
3. Pollution is also an unseen killer of healthy hair
4. Tangled hair is the most common reason for hair fall
5. While shampooing cleanses your hair, regular conditioning is required for adequate moisturization. Regular use of conditioner post shampoo also solves the problem of entangling which is the major cause of hairfall.

HEAT & CHEMICALS are hair's worst enemies. You've got any of those on your hair?
Supplements, medications, anti-acne products, hair oil, birth control pills, pollution in the water, to name just a few . . . ALL HAVE SIDE EFFECTS.
Any reactions to a drug - like Vitamin B complex which is a supplement - 'side effect' is a negative reaction to a drug - this is your body telling you that what you just gave it is toxic to it, and instead of helping you, it is actually hurting you.  It is your body's way of telling you to stop.  All drugs have side effects, and are toxic...even lethal...to some people at some dosage.  Another term for toxic is poisonous.
Source: Health Magazine, FDA, Slate dot com
Another example: Vitamin D posted on Facebook: "I'm regretting reading the small print on my bottle of Vitamin D capsules. The source is "wool oil." So... sheep sebum? I can't get the (hopefully imagined) smell of wet sheep out of my mouth now."

Google "Boise teen goes on Today Show to talk about losing her hair." She's got Alopecia, 100% why you have hair loss.
"As an alopecia sufferer for 25 years I would however tell his mama to stop the shots. They still haunt me and ultimately they are useless. I used to get a shot and the hair would grow and then fall out somewhere else."
- Shish Kabab , Belmont, United States, 06/5/2013 18:13

"You find people oiling hair every single day, the hair sweats and it doesnât get washed. What do you think happens? It goes limp and becomes thin because it is not breathing,â Shamillah Mohammed, a hairstylist at SUQA, says.

Google: January Jones: "My Hair Is Falling Out In Clumps" 1-28-13 To quote Joni Mitchell, "you don't know what you got till your thick hair is gone."

When hair starts to fall out MORE, there are no hair products or treatment, that are made of glue to fix, prevent, reverse hair from getting damaged or hair falls. It is a trillion dollar business, and they do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair falls.

Eliminate the 'causes' before you find 'solution' and your hair will improve.

Japanese hair straightening Houston?

Q. i am here asking for advice my hair is wavy and i don't have any control on the frizzes nothing working but the regular hair mousse and i have to hold it with something and i am tiered of that cause it doesn't look professional and if i get it don it will take me about hour and half to do so every week and what if it rains anyway if you guys know anything about this treatment and where in Houston area professionally in range $ 90 please let me know asap thank you all .

Answer
I've had frizzy hair before and there are 'tricks' to manipulate hair, and products aren't working for you there are tricks.

I wouldn't recommend them. There are many brands of hair straightening out there and they call them anyway they want to get your attention. Coco is another name brand. Some Japanese hair straightening processes can damage the hair and leave it flat and lifeless.
None is better than the other.

Keratin are not approved by the FDA. Visit their website & search for it in their web. If you're thinking about the Brazilian treatment, there's a danger about using formaldehyde, a chemical that causes cancer. The FDA does not restrict the use of that chemical in cosmetics.

Stylists and clients often wear gas masks or other protective equipment and still may feel the ill effects of this potentially fatal gas.

Many customers and stylists do not know that this Brazilian treatment often contains high concentrations of formaldehyde, a cancer-causing chemical.

Relaxers are for permanent, but they are damaging to hair.

Go to the FDA website & type in permanent or relaxers so you understand what are the side effects.

Here's the newest news:
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently seized tens of thousands of bottles of "Rio" hair relaxer products after determining they can cause severe hair loss or turn hair green.
http://blog.taragana.com/business/2010/0â¦

The FDA last month warned consumers not to use "Rio Hair Naturalizer Systems," a product imported from Brazil and sold through television infomercials by World Rio Corp. of Los Angeles.

The official complaints against hair straightening products range from serious hair breakage and hair damage to serious scalp burns that may require an emergency room visit.
Example of what one suffering severe hair loss after Japanese Hair Straightening from YA HAIR:
I got my hair rebonded back in March and have lost more than a third of it since then. Everytime I run my hands through my hair, I lose 7-10 strands on average!
In the shower I lose clumps after shampooing and conditioning.
Bald spots are showing up in my hair.
I used to have beautiful thick hair, ho can I get it back?

Another ex: I used to have very curly, beautiful hair..and then i got it chemically straightened..DONT DO IT! when it started growing out, it was mess and even more difficult to work with than before. and once it was completely grown out, my hair was no longer curly..it is now this aweful wavy mess, and only certain spots are still curly.

Example of one Trick: One method to make it look fuller, add body, bouncier, thicker, softer & shiny hair is to set your hair with plastic curlers after you towel dry, you'll end up with uniform balance of curls. Blow dry briefly while curling them in curlers. Take them out, and finger comb to style. Used by the best hair color models, and the fashion industry, like Victoria Secret Fashion Show Dec. 2009, America's Next Top Models, EXPRESS, Dancing with the Stars . . . . and continued to be used today where salons care about pampering your hair. When you see hair on TV a hair color commercial, they're not done by curling or straightening tools. Hair that shines like that and feels like hair, not hay, has to be done by the best hair tools available w/out damaging to the hair. When you take the curlers out, finger comb to style or lightly brush. Tousle the hair up. or shake your hair. You can use large, medium or small curlers, that depends on the length of your hair.

Hair relaxants and l'oreal Iona hair color questions...? (please no stupid answers)?

thatasiand

1. Which should be done first: Relax hair or color it with l'oreal Iona (no ammonia)?

2. Do hair relaxants contain ammonia?

3. Imma have my hair relaxed every year and colored with Inoa, is it safe?

4. Is there a risk of Inoa coloring my hair in a lighter shade? What about darker shade?

A hairstylist in Portland, Or. is blowing a whistle on the treatment. Google hair dyes & cancer spec. black hair dyes which is made from tar. Some people smoke & tan all their lives and do not get cancer. But there are 2nd hand & 3rd hand smoke who are now carrying their oxygen tank so they can breath or have cancer. Same with hair dyes. I've responded 3 in the last 15 mins. 9-26-10. If you're not affected today, or next month, you may never be affected and you're one of the lucky ones. It doesn't take overnight, it takes years of hair experimentation with hair dyes.

Here's a new article I found re: henna, which is supposed to be better for you than reg. box dye. It's a good read!

SECONDLY: Hair dye is another chemical. You're putting one on top of the other, which means you have more risk in hair falls or cancer to both.

Is it good to dye your hair a different color a lot?

Alivia

I've been dying my hair pink and purple a lot of times because it keeps fading out. My friends say that it's bad for your hair to do that.

Answer
NEVER.

Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.
> > > Hair dye chemicals linked to cancer
London, Feb 20, 2013 I've been saying that since 2009.
Hair dyes, which include home hair colouring kits and those used at pricey salons, are linked to deadly cancer-causing chemicals, warn scientists. In 2009 the Mail revealed that women who used hair dyes more than nine times a year had a 60% greater risk of contracting blood cancer.
A year later the European Commission banned 36 hair dyes which put long-term users at risk of bladder cancer. < < < <â¨
Google: Teen 'feared she would die' after reaction to hair dye
The allergic reaction was caused by a well-known brand of semi-permanent hair dye Chloe used to turn her hair black for a Halloweâen party. . . . . called for beauty bosses to ban hair dye chemical PPD (para-phenylenediamine) from the shelves. 11-04-11

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Itâs made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Itâs well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time. Skin specialist Najjia Ashraf reveals that there are barely any dyes that donât contain this toxin; even the ones who claim they donât, are not being honest. âBig brands often escape the blame by suggesting they are ammonia-free. However, ammonia and PPD are two very different things and PPD is present in nearly every dye because it is what gives off the colour,â she explains.

Google: A 38-year old mother left in a coma after using hair dye. SHE DYED HER HAIR MANY TIMES BEFORE, USING THE SAME BRAND. The British woman who went into coma after a reaction to hair dye has died after a year. Updated 11-25-12. The woman suffered a heart failure, struggled for breath and became unconsciousness. Her family blamed paraphenylenediamine, a chemical found in hair colour. Her family has now called for paraphenylenediamine to be banned from home dye kits. In 2000, a 38-year-old Indian-origin woman from Birmingham, Narinder Devi, died after an allergic reaction to hair dye.

Permanent black hair dye is linked to causing leukemia and lymphomas.

Hair Coloring Questions...?

Is 40-58 dollars too expensive/cheap?
How much does it cost to get the roots done, and how often do you have to go in and get them done?
What if I don't like the new color, is it free to have them change it back...haha i hope. Also, is there a shampoo/conditioner that i can buy @ walgreens that is good for color treated hair?
THanks for all your help!

Answer
Yeah 60$ is what I usually pay. [full head] I know it's rediculous....cuz i do that everyother month. A root touch up should cost about $15-$25 ...about every month or every other month. they wont fix it for free, and I like to use john freida for colored hair... if you're on a budget...use pantiene for colored hair....fitting what ever color you have. theese shampoo&conditioners are made to keep the color in longer.

Best Shampoo and Conditioner for Coloured hair?

billykelly

I have dyed black hair and its not completly faded but over the next couple of days I am going to redo the black and bleach some of my hair (40 volume flashlightning) to put in Manic Panic's After midnight blue and I want to strenghten my hair inbetween the dye jobs and after.
By the way I live in the uk so perhaps it could be something I could purchase in Boots or Superdrug?

Any further tips to help my hair whether it be home remedies or products I could buy it would really help

Thanks for bothering to answer XD

Answer
Since you are using store bought dies which are already horrible for your hair, you should spring for a professional colour treated shampoo and conditioner and deep condition. Dying your hair black and bleaching your hair are 2 of the worst things you can do yo your hair, doing both is even worse. After I bleached my hair when it was died black my hair was falling out as I brushed it. I like Joico products best.

What hair color is prettiest ?! 10POINTS**?

Q. Which hair color do you like the bestt?!10 points?

I'm a brunette and want to go lighter! which color do you think is prettiest thanks (: here is myfour option ideas : http://m.pinterest.com/rachalexandria1/hair-color-choices/

Answer
I get tons of compliments with my 4 natural colors, thank you!

Blondes vs. Brunettes.
Researchers/some guy in his basement working for Superdrug surveyed 1,000 men, determining that 54 percent of them would choose a brunette to be their wife. A minority 16 percent preferred blonde hair, while 30 percent of participants shrugged their shoulders and asked when they would have access to the free doughnut holes they were promised when they signed up for the study (the answer, sadly, was never).
Other useless information gleaned from this researcher: men think women with brown hair take better care of their appearance, make better cooks.

. . . .
Go lighter if you want to look older than your mom.

My church friend went blonde, or ash blonde, who knows, her orig. hair color was black, now she's older looking than her mom - 56. It didn't even go with her complexion, and she's hating every minute of it.
She's in her 30's. If you're getting bored with your hair, try to teach yourself to style your hair so you can be more unique. I can do mine 7 different ways a week, takes 2-10 mins. I've posted 60 photos in 25 months. If I can do it, so can you!

Can colouring your hair ever be healthy for it?

VCC

I know after having tried every colour hair i look best with straight blonder hair (i'm a strawberry dark blonde/mousy brown naturally). The last couple of years i've been having constant full head of highlights often and it has taken it's toll. I'm thinking of going a dark auburn colour as it looks fine not straightened and just less hassle/maintenance and give the highlights a break. I'm worried dying it darker would damage it even more though? But than you/I hear that some high street haircolours can be nourishing? Is that possible or will it just make things worse? I've got an inch or two of roots showing and it's not pretty.

Answer
anything besides washing or brushing your hair is damaging

coloring, flat iron, curling . .

the worst however is coloring and bleaching

Wash out hair colors?

Cindy

I'm in my 20's and I've never dyed my hair! I'm honestly kind of afraid to. I have nice natural hair, it's dark brown with natural auburn highlights. People ask me if I dye my hair all the time, but I don't!

Anyway, I would like to try something different. I have heard of hair colors that wash out in so many washes. Has anyone ever tried these before? If so, how did you like them? Thanks in advance for any answers :)

Answer
There is temporary hair color which washes out after the first or second wash. Semi permanent which washes out after 4-6 weeks. And semi permanent which lasts about 8 weeks. Unfortunately they cannot lighten hair so you can only go the same level or darker. Since your hair is already dark it probably won't change much.
Your hair now sounds beautiful and like it has some dimension already with the natural highlights. Coloring all one color could make it look flat and boring. If you wanted to change it up maybe try a new haircut. If you really want color I would just do a few subtle highlights.. Not blonde... Just a pretty light caramelly brown. I think that would accent your naturally nicely.
Hope this was helpful :)

Is an organic shampoo the best shampoo?

Kay

Is it the best to prevent hair damage, dryness, and it falling out? If so, which brand is the best one?

Answer
Of course not, unless you KNOW they contain 99% water.

Don't believe the hype: "For skin care products, 'organic is not enough,. Some organic products are fabulous, and some are not." ~ Dr. Lisa Chipps , M.D. specializes in removing skin cancer & repairing the resultant wound (laser therapy whiz) in Rodeo Drive.
"Organic skin care products are trendy, but that does not mean nonorganic ones are dangerous," Wendy E. Roberts, M.D. past president of the Women's Dermatologic Society.

Your hair is damaged, and falling out? Heat & chemicals are hair's worst enemies. You got any of those on your hair?

Would asian haircut look good on an european people?

Simona

I'm a 15 year old teen girl, my hair is long, dirty blonde color. I want to get a haircut and I like all asian hairstyles and I'm not sure how they would look on me since I'm european. What do you think? :)
http://www.voguepk.com/korean-hairstylecute-long-hairstyle-teen-girls-trends-2013/
(sorry for spelling mistakes)

Answer
Many Asian have straight hair. Many Europeans are Asians. I'm Asian.
Sure go for it!

W TO STYLE LONG HAIR:
Dress up an easy down day with a bow.
Try the trendy wrap-around braid with bangs.
Make your hair and accessory with a huge topknot.
Scrunch with a texturizing spray for a beach-y look.
Soften up a work blazer with a sweet side part.
Use a round brush for a full-of-body blowout.
Rough up a side pony with a rugged safari hat.
Try a classic French braid, coil to the side.
Embrace fluffy curls - the bigger, the better!
Do Duchess Catherine brown (the new blond).
Disguise grow-out bangs with a single braid.
If you dare: shaved sides are having a moment.
Do a Farrah-style flip, any face shape.
Whip up a Rapunzelesque rope braid.
Days-old hair? Do a double deck pony.
Rock an easy side braid for a weekend look. Add Wafarer-style specs and a red0hot lip. Fierce!
THINK BIG: The new blowout is all about big, bouncy volume. Start blow-drying hair with a large barrel brush, set in loose pin curls for 10 minutes, then shake out until ends are wavy.
CREATE A HALO: Braiding hair horizontally on either side of a deep side part creates a whimsical, hippie-like effect. I call it the Hunger Games style. Other magazines called it the 'goddess' look. I've seen them last week during Dancing with the Stars. Dayana Mendoza the Miss Universe, recently on the Apprentice had that same hairstyle, & recently Florence Welch wore her hair during the Met Gala. Google her. Took about 10 mins. to do, use bobby pins to secure the braids to your head. Other magazines called it, the Goddess look. Victoria Newman on the Young & the Restless did a similar a week ago! Kelly Osborne wore it during Fashion Police 10-8-12.
I'm sure NO ONE in you school have done that!

Google: Peopleâs Choice Awards Hair: Helmet Braids Dominate 1-10-13

Soft updos and silk scarves at Dolce & Gabbana. The summery hair at Dolce was anchored by beautiful printed scarves that hairstylist Guido Paulo wrapped around textured, pulled-apart updos. He started by rough-drying the models' hair with mousse before pinning it into an updo that was "not really a twist, not really a knot, just exactly how a Sicilian woman would pin her hair up," he said. To keep the headband from looking severe, Paulo left a few centimeters of the hairline exposed, covered the very tops of the ears with the scarf, and tied it on the side.
HOW I STYLED MY HAIR IN HS with past the shoulder length to long hair?
My hair cut was below my boobs, until I grad. from HS it went down to my waist. I have various styles for my hair, didn't have bangs then.

1. I parted them in the middle, had two baby pony tails right where the top of my ears, and they fall to the front, while the rest of my hair hang loose on the back. I also curled the ends under, using plastic curlers (when I go to sleep).

2. Other times, I braided my hair after they're washed, so they're curly for days! I have about 6 sections that was braided so the curls are tighter. In the morning, when I take the braids out, finger comb so they don't get frizzy.

3. Do the Pocahantas bun. Divide your hair vertically in 2. Coil the top section, using bobby pins. Let the other bottom half loose.

4. Add hairsticks to your bun, instead.

5. Coil the top, coil the bottom section.

6. Braid the top coil, bun it. Let the rest fall out.

7. Add hair sticks to the braided bun.

I can do 7 different styles per week (even now). The idea is to experiment, practice the night before, so you can easily do them by morning. Takes me 2-10 mins. to style my knee length hair. I've posted 98 on Facebook.

Back to school hair?10pts?

Q. ok my sister is going to 7th grade she said she wants to look older so she needs a new hairstyle she has curly wavy thick thick hair and she wants pics links videos or tips if you can she always would have a half pony or bun or braid or ponytail plz awnser??

Answer
Tweens and teenagers may prefer trendier back to school hair styles that involve elaborate precision haircuts or use of hair color, including emo and scene styles. Popular short back to school hairstyles for girls include bobs and pixie cuts, while elementary-school age boys may prefer buzz cuts or fades.

Medium length back to school hair styles for girls include shags and face-framing layers, while boys can wear back to school hair styles with longer hair on top and shorter hair on the sides and in back. All of these styles look even better when messy, making it highly appropriate for active kids. If the teenager in question is particularly stylish, asymmetrical bobs that are accented with highlights are popular for both sexes.

Longer back to school hairstyles for teenage girls include long pin straight hair, also known as sedu, long loose waves, especially with the hair pushed back behind the ear, and ponytails for ease of use. These longer hairstyles can feature bangs, long layers or be blunt cut to all one length. Long, one-length hair for boys is currently out of style, but longer hairstyles with layers for boys are appropriate and acceptable.

How To Get a Great Back To School Hairstyle

For the best back-to-school hairstyles, visit a salon before school starts and discuss the options with your stylist. Bring pictures of styles you like or have a celebrity in mind whose look you would like to emulate so the hairstylist can get some idea of what kind of looks you like and then adapt them to your own face shape and hair texture.

If you want a fresh look without too much change, start with a small variation of his or her current style, such as adding bangs or changing the part. This can be done a day or two before school, but if the style change is drastic, it should be done a couple of weeks beforehand so he or she can have time to get used to it, or make changes if the experimentation doesn't work out.

After the initial hairstyle is created, it should be maintained with cuts every six to eight weeks in order to continue to look good for such events as school pictures, homecoming dances, recitals, etc. If the style involves hair color, updates should be made every four to six weeks.

I've been searching for a new way to style my hair. I've had he same style and same cut for a while now and need a change. I like the Emo/punk hair styles, but not sure if it would look right on me. My hair is a little past my shoulders, And I don't really want to change the length. Any suggestions?

I would like an asian hairstyle?

I love Japanese hair styles. Like these:

My hair is naturally wavy/curly, but I straighten. Will the layers work? My hair is about an inch or two longer than my shoulder. I plan on donating it to Locks of Love in a year or two. I am tall (5'5) for a 13 year old, so my face is shaped a lot like the women in the pictures.
Thank you very much. I really love these hairstyles!!!

What is the best brand to use to color your hair at home?

Answer
When using hair color, if you must get an over-the-counter product - make sure to get one that does NOT use metallic salts. Also, make sure to be clear and convey what you have done with your hair if you ever get color, perm, or other texture services done in a salon setting.

An over-the-counter product I would recommend (that you can get at any beauty supply store) would be Loreal Cream color. You also have to get developer, based on if you want lift of deposit.

Good Luck

I'm thinking of coloring my own hair at home, but I'm not sure what the best brand is?
Just looking to cover some grays without drying my hair out too much. I have been having it done at a salon for years and love what she does, just can't afford it right now. Thanks.

Answer
Special Effects hair dye for unnatural hair colors, It's vegetable dye and is completly safe. It lasts up to 4 months, some colors glow in black light. It's vegan (I'm vegan...)
I love it!! Have been using it for over a year, with every color of the rainbow used. I love it so much, I swear by it!! It's also a conditioning dye, so it is like a deep conditioner. It's great!
http://www.amphigory.com/special_effects_hairdye.html

Or for natural colors, minus Manic Panic (Isn't as good as Special Effects)
I haven't used any of these, but they're supposed to be great :]

Do the Japanese only have black as their natural hair color or are there other colors that they have?

Answer
Some Japanese have brown hair. Sometimes they are mistakenly accused in schools because coloring hair is banned by school rules and this rule assumes black hair is the natural.

japanese hair straightening?

cj a

is the japanese hair straightening makes the hair just like flat ironing or somoother cuz when i do iron my hair it feels smooth and silky. and does the japanese straightening better before or after hair coloring?

Answer
Ahh, I got japanese hair straightening on my hair about 6 months ago and I absolutely love it!!!!

It makes it really smooth and nice, smoother than just a flat iron I believe.

And you HAVE to get it done BEFORE. After you get the straightening done you have to wait about a month or so until you can dye it. And when you can finally dye it, you have to get it done by a professional who can dye your hair WITHOUT peroxide in it. If the dye has peroxide it will mess up the straightening and all that money will go to waste.

So the best bet will be to get it done beforehand. And when you go get the japanese hair straightening, let the hair dresser know that you have dyed your hair, because he/she has to put something else in your hair so the treatment will work.
I went to the hair dresser, got the straightening done, and he assumed my hair wasn't dyed and he didn't use the right stuff, so the treatment didn't work right. The second time I got the straightening done, and he knew about the dye, it came out AMAZING:) I lovelovelove it!

What color and brand of Hair Dye would best fit my Skin Tone, Eyes and Base Color?

Lola

My natural skin tone is light olive, sometimes my skin can seem pale or very white when I have makeup on. But skin still looks very "Latin" if you will, very Caribbean. I'm Puerto Rican and Dominican, haha. I have brown eyes and right now my hair color is a light brown, like...honey brown. I'm 17 years old, I've never dyed my hair before and I was thinking of going a bit lighter in color. Just something that stands out, you know, nothing too dramatic. I was thinking of getting a warm brown hair color, almost chestnut brown looking, or maybe even lighter. When I wear make up, which is almost always, my eyes pop out a lot and they look hazel almost. I like wearing classy-like make up, kind of pin up looking, haha. I don't know, I need some help. It's the first time I dye my hair and I'm giving you the information you need to help me out so...I hope you can, haha. Thank you :)

Answer
You have latin/olive skin, naturally honey brown hair, and brown/hazel eyes, so I'd say you've got warm undertones. So whatever you go for, make it rich and warm in color. Something that would pick up hints of gold. Personally, I think you'd look gorgeous with a caramel or a golden blond if you're feeling bold. You're probably really pretty already I'm confident you could pull it off :)

Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme & L'Oreal Paris Sublime Mousse by Healthy Look are rated the best brands on the market on totalbeauty.com which is non-biased and gives you full reviews on every brand/product you might be interested in--look at the link I posted..

Consider going two-toned like beyonce did.. But you might want to see a hairstylist if you're going to try anything tricky or risky since you've never dyed your hair before.
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_UBatk21ZytM/TTmeAKDxhII/AAAAAAAAAho/tAh2ZHX8uAM/s400/Beyonce-Hairstyles-1.jpg

If you're not sure you're ready to dye yet, you can use shampoos and conditioners that slightly change the color of your hair.. My hair's brown but I like to use the John Frieda S&C for "darker blondes" to brighten my hair and give my hair more vibrant, blond highlighted look.. THe upside to trying that first would be that you could get a hint of what blonder and brighter would look like if you're feeling at all hesitant

How can I know what hair color will match my skin tone and eyes?

Lucy

I don't want it to be total disaster, there are people I see all of the time who shouldn't have dyed their hair a certain color because it just looks weird and unnatural.

My natural hair color is ash blonde like this --
http://www.wiggoddess.com/images/18-22.jpg

My skin tone is very white, or as most people call it "Ivory", it's the first color on this chart --
http://www.artisticphantasy.com/skintones.jpg

My eyes are icy blue and do change to green from time to time ..

What color hair do you think I could get away with an look natural? I've always wanted to dye my hair this color, but I'm so anxious of the result! What do you think? My skin tone is almost exactly like hers ...

Thanks for your time.

Answer
Lucy!

awesome question!! why?! because it is something we all wonder... few ask.. many leap... and wow.. they should not!! lol...

you have a wonderful combination all your own...
and while part of me is wanting to scream do not lose your own unique self?
oh the rest of me is squashing that know it all....
cause first you gotta have the fun of finding "you" and that includes your own "style"

what you can do while "wow-ing" the world around you with hair
and
what you can do "looking" natural
2 different things

why?
go look in the mirror.... see those eyebrows? they are exactly two shades darker than your natural color.... and that is how you can tell a "true" blonde from the rest....
(unlike the crass jokes I Still do not "get" --and nope.. no one need email me.. I do not "wanna" either)

you are so lucky....

you can actually go light almost as you want and still make it not just "work" but, done right... you will look like like you have always had it...
the basic rule of thumb or standard whether from the bottle or straight out dye job from salon you will want only two shades down or up the scale from your natural... that is not to say you can't do more... by no means... you are not limited really except by your own imagination... that is a basic rule to not have a "bad" hair day (or in this case... however long it takes to grow out?!)
for you, most definitely you can do what is in the picture you have....
I would suggest only one addition? you see her eyebrows? hmm... okay I am not suggesting you dye yours.. no way... too dangerous, too easy to blind yourself... but, I am suggesting some toning/depth by way of lowlights.... a shade darker to give it a more realistic look and feel....
well.. while you are checking out the color variation of your eyebrows? look at your hair color... close up.... it is not just one color... not flat... there are places the sun has "kissed" it...
you say you have pale/fair skin tone... blue eyes that go green.... too kewl... and?
honestly, to make any color 'look' natural you really would need only to remember the depth (low/highlights) and make minor changes.. to makeup possible clothing style.. believe it or not.. the look of natural really lies in the threecomponents combined.. so many women change one and not the rest.. or have a very flat color... not realizing (or being told) that "natural" hair is a comination of wow.. a lot of colors... all blended....
and your personal combination -
sounds like you would easily be able to "slip" into redhead.... with only minor changes to foundation, lip and cheek color... more peaches and cream less of the pink-ish tones.... browns and greens you could keep
for brunette you would be able to as well.... changing tones from pale to slightly darker... reds could be splashed and blues used more... purple would be effective.....
for the lighter shades you are going for, warmer ones... you will want to use more of the golden tones you like but probably avoid.... the warmer pink instead of the paler ones... the richer creamy colors.... and you use ones with more red base to accent your cheeks....

here are a few things to keep in mind while having fun...
two shades lower or higher... may be a standard.. it is not a limit...
lowlights are our friends -- now if you say it with an insane, wistfully far away look? you get points... and need to take a picture so I know what wistful looks like? lol.. kidding.. sorry...
seriously.. the ones you look at? look again.. do they have one flat "blah" kind of color? eyebrows 'really' stand out? well... lowlights... highlights...
your hair reflects you... have fun for heaven's sake! be adventurous.. creative... let "you" come out...
when in doubt? wash it out ----- use a pulse product, temporarily 'try' on a look/color they wash out quick enough! ;)
regardless of anything? never dye the brows... kay? kay
to look younger go lighter, older go darker....
always strip test with a new color......
and finally... most importantly....
since you are blonde ----if it is not blonde - get a pro to do it! lol.. hmmm I could pretend a friend did the following.. but, I would be lying... lol.. my ash (dirty dishwater blonde) hair was looking dark.. I was bored.. I decided a nice light brunette I found was too pretty... the picture it showed that my color would be a nice rich brown, light with golden lights... I followed the directions - umm, minus testing a small part- and ummm.... I had a patchwork, quilt mop... of every color from blue black, to strawberry red... lol.. go on laugh... I do... my hair dresser said he was not a miracle worker enough to undo that mess... and I talked him into trying.. four hours later, I had an auburn-ish almost pink, mauve, maroon... brown color...
he was referring to me as "Lucy" ---- no offense, I just realized... but he said even at her best... no way could she have done any worse... or funny... I reminded him how very boring life would be without me... lol...
how was I supposed to know more than what the little chart says? kay.. so... I learned that one the hard/funny way... just picture a totally fired head of many, many colors.. and if you venture away from blonde? go to a pro... do not attempt it...lol

good luck!
hope this has been of assistance
thanks for taking the time to read this
have a great day!

Home Hair Coloring - grey hair?

Daisy

I have had grey hair since I was about 16 years old. Now at 35 I have a good deal of it and I have been dying my hair ever since that age; both at home and at the salon. My hair color is dark brown and I usually choose something in the medium golden brown range - so that it doesn't look too dark once dyed. The problem I have is that I find that even with so called home "permanet dyes" I have had the color disapear on the grays in a couple of weeks or even less (sometimes even right away!). Since I really can't afford to dye my hair at the salon all the time anymore, I would really prefer to do it myself. Does anyone have any advice either about which product covers the best or any tips to making the dye cover the grey better?

Answer
Gray hair is difficult to color because the cuticle of the hair shaft is so tight, also gray is usually coarse, which makes it more difficult as well.
You need to use the right products, so that the tint will be deposited into your hair. I love Redken, Matrix and Chi colors but they are not usually sold to the general public. If you have a Sally's they do carry tints that will work for you. I believe they carry Clairol and Loreal and both have lines especially formulated for stubborn gray hair. I don't know the names because I have not used them for years, but the clerk working there will be able to show you those. Next you need to use a 10 volume peroxide (peroxide is the chemical that activates the tint) You need to use a 10 volume peroxide so it will lift the cuticle and deposit the color. 20,30 and 40 volume peroxides are used to lift color, so only use the stronger peroxides if you decide to go lighter, than the gray.
Mix equal parts tint with peroxide. Most tints are sold in 2 ounce bottles, (if your hair is thick you will have to use the entire bottle.) so mix the entire bottle with 2 ounces of peroxide. Tint applicator bottles have measurements on the side. For your first application, because you still have so much gray, I would apply the tint and comb it through your hair. Place a plastic processing cap (also available at Sally's) and process for 25 minutes. Test the color by wiping the tint off of a small lock of hair and see if has completely covered the gray. Hold the lock of hair up to a white paper towel, so you can see the color well. If not covered process for 5 additional minutes. Any future tints you need to apply just to the roots, process for 15 minutes, then comb the tint through the rest of your hair and process for the remaining 10 minutes. Do not apply tint everywhere every time or you will end up with a nasty build up, where your roots will be lighter than the rest of your hair.
Also make sure you are using shampoo, conditioner and styling products formulated for tinted hair. By using the right product it can add life to your tint and your hair color won't fade as fast. If you use other products you will be washing your tint, right down the drain. Rinse the conditioner from your hair with warm water, then rinse with the coldest water you can stand. This will force the cuticle down and will help seal in the moisture and the color.
Beauty schools charge far less, you will be in the chair longer because the work is done by students, but every process is supervised by licensed cosmetologists. If you decide tinting at home becomes too difficult, beauty schools are a great option. And some beauty schools use the better products.
Good Luck, I hope this helps you to finally cover your gray.

Can anyone tell me what the best store bought hair colour is for covering grey hair?

Chewie

I'm only 27, but because I took after my dad, I started to get grey hair at a young age (a few here and there).

I find that most hair colour doesn't cover grey hair for very long.

Answer
First to clear up one fact is that your hair doesn't turn Grey. It starts losing color pigmentation. When that happens the individual hair will become flatter in circumference. Each color inside a hair has different size color molecules. When you add color, the molecules in that color will attach itself to the one inside the hair. Gray lacking in molecules, has no ability to hold onto the color molecules, permanently. You can help it by adding a filler first. You can get a clear filler and apply it first to dry hair and let it dry. Then add the color. You can get a bottle of filler from your favorite beauty salon, or have them apply it the day before you color. The filler has a different molecule structure that will grab hold of the gray, and then the color molecules will attach to the them, giving more holding power. Not sure which color is best to buy. That depends on if your going for ease, price, or both. Try them and see what works best for you. Good Luck
