What hair color goes best with fair skin and blue/green eyes? Does darker hair color's make skin tones look more pale?

Answer
I have fair skin and green eyes and auburn hair. I think I match pretty good.
I'll probably get thumbs down for this, but I need answers!

What hair color will compliment my skin tone?

Kristine L

Im a very fair skinned little lady. I refuse to tan because I'd like to look young as long as possible, plus, cancer runs through my family quite strongly.

Anyways, does anyone out there have an idea of a hair color that would go well with my fair skin tone? At the moment its a darker brown, but I almost feel like it flushes me out.

Answer
If your skin is more white (as opposed to reddish) I would suggest red or a soft strawberry blond. Otherwise a honey blonde would look nice, too.

Q. I have a pale skin tone and I want a grunge look. Ok so think Frances Bean. Same skin tone. Love her hair! When it's blonde. But the thing is, I don't want it blonde. I tried doing the ombre thing at home but I ruined it x(
I don't want to go to a salon. I cut my own hair as well as dye it. I'm thinking about dying it red. But it's hard to manage. I'm just stuck! Any ideas?

Answer
Pale skin often looks good with Dark browns or blacks, Rangas/oranges and bright reds.

Red hair is VERY hard to maintain, i warn you, but it looks AMAZING! If you go for a red, i suggest you touch it up about every 4 weeks. Or just whenever it starts to fade. Also, red is a bugger to get out, and will take a long time to get rid of when you want to change again. :)
Good luck.

I'm a college student and my best girl friend on campus got me into coloring my hair cause it looks better a darker brown, I'm not gay either. I go to school in Florida, and need to find a salon in North Atlanta

Thanks!

Answer
Rock-It salon, hands down. I got my hair colored there for years before I opened my own. The staff is younger and really rocker-chick, and not snotty, so you'll feel comfortable. They cater to rockstars, too.

They have a webpage, rockitsalon.com, I think.

Sigger is also good, but pricey and hard to get into.

How often should my hair be highlighted?

Meredith

In early September I had my hair colored and highlighted. I haven't had highlights in years, so this is kind of new for me. I love the way it looks, but in just a month's time, my hair has grown, and roots are already visible. (If I didn't dye my hair I'd be I think all white.)

My question is, can they just touch up roots without dying over the highlights? How often should I be getting highlights? I have thick, curly hair cut in what I guess is a bob..

Answer
I know for a fact that touch-ups can be done. How often only depends on how fast your hair grows. And, I'm a firm believer that with some things, doing them yourself to save $$ can be the most expensive mistake you can make.

Also...not part of this answer, but thought you'd like to know. The Cajun restaurant you like in Acworth, Henry's Louisiana Grill, is going to offer 1/2 deals ($50 worth of food for $25) on the True Oldies Station (Y06.7) this coming Thursday morning...they go on sale at 8:30 a.m. You can search for True Oldies Atlanta and check out their website as you have to buy it online. As a rule, the really good deals go fast, so if you're really interested I'd be at my computer at 8:30 on the dot.

Philadelphia area-an inexpensive hairdresser who will advise me on what will look good and what won't?

I know this isn't a local site, but I am desperate.....
I live in Philadelphia.
I always hate my haircuts, even though the hairdressers pretty much give me what I ask for. Can anyone recommend someone who will work with me? Who will tell me flat out, "no that won't look good on you, here are some suggestions." Oh and who isn't too expensive. It would be great to come out with a finished look for under $65. I don't want my hair colored-just cut, dried, and styled. But I can't afford paying $40 for the cut, and another $35 for the blowdry, and then some for them to do the finishing touch. Is there a place out there in the greater Philadelphia area that meets my criteria or will I just have to keep tryng new styles?

Answer
You could talk to an ULTA hairdresser, just call and make an appointment with someone from the salon. They will talk to you for free and even show you how to do some stuff with your hair.

Where can you find these hair extensions in orlando fl?

Jenna

I am looking for the jessica simpson layered hair extensions but cannot find them in any ulta...... where can they be?

Answer
Hmm... I got mine at Ulta near Philadelphia PA. If you can't find them I would just try purchasing them from ulta.com. And if your concerned about matching the color, I'm pretty sure they have a color insurance thing where if it doesn't match then you can return it and get a new one or refund. Good luck!

Why do i have grey hair at thirteen years old?

I've been growing grey hair at a young age, is this normal? People look at my hair and tell me I have grey hair, like I don't know, its getting annoying.
Haha looks like I'm not alone.

Answer
It is totally fine grey hair is

The root of every strand of hair is surrounded by a tube of tissue under the skin that is called the hair follicle Each hair follicle contains a certain number of pigment cells. These pigment cells continuously produce a chemical called melanin that gives the growing shaft of hair its color of brown, blonde, red, and anything in between.

Melanin is the same stuff that makes our skin's color fair or darker. It also helps determine whether a person will burn or tan in the sun. The dark or light color of someone's hair depends on how much melanin each hair contains.

As we get older, the pigment cells in our hair follicles gradually die. When there are fewer pigment cells in a hair follicle, that strand of hair will no longer contain as much melanin and will become a more transparent color - like gray, silver, or white - as it grows. As people continue to get older, fewer pigment cells will be around to produce melanin. Eventually, the hair will look completely gray.

People can get gray hair at any age. Some people go gray at a young age - as early as when they are in high school or college - whereas others may be in their 30s or 40s before they see that first gray hair. How early we get gray hair is determined by our genes. This means that most of us will start having gray hairs around the same age that our parents or grandparents first did.

Gray hair is more noticeable in people with darker hair because it stands out, but people with naturally lighter hair are just as likely to go gray. From the time a person notices a few gray hairs, it may take more than 10 years for all of that person's hair to turn gray.

What was considered sexy throughout the decades since the 1920s?

Canton Blu

20s, 30s, 40s, so on

Clothing/Attitude?

Answer
The 1920s was a decade when women didnât want to look like women at all. Some women of the '20s era would even bind their chests with strips of cloth to achieve a âlittle boyâ look. The loose silhouette of the flapper dress was in stark contrast to the corseted waist of the Victorian era. Elastic webbed girdles replaced corsets and gave off the look of a flat boyish abdomen. Going right along with the boyish look, the hair bob or finger wave was a big trend. Bold makeup, which had once been considered âtrashy,â was now considered sexy. Powder was applied to make the skin look as pale as possible and eyebrows were lifted and penciled in to appear thin and bold. Kohl was used to line the eye and achieve an overall dramatic look.

The 1930s to 1950s:
As they became more body conscious, women started to pay attention to what they ate. Fashions accented the arms and legs, so women lifted light weights to build muscle tone. The new padded stretch cotton bra was introduced-- something all men and women were very thankful for. Designers like Chanel, Dior, and Elsa Schiaparelli started designing glamorous attire that allowed women to show off their feminine curves. Hairstyles became more feminine than they had been in the 1920s. Hair color varied depending on which movie star one was trying to emulate. Jean Harlow made platinum blond a trend, meanwhile, Rita Hayworth made being a redhead popular. Last, but not least, Marlene Dietrich represented for all the brunettes out there. Makeup became a little less drag, and more girl-next-door than in the '20s. The pasty white skin trend was finally passé, and women started opting for foundations closer to their natural complexions.

The 1950's:
The desired shape in the mid-century was the hourglass figure. Rule number one of the 50s was that women were never supposed to leave the house looking sloppy-- meaning that our convenience store runs in sweatpants and sneakers would have been deemed completely unacceptable. Hair was usually kept short at just below the shoulders, and was worn in soft, curly, or wavy styles. Straight styles were considered undesirable-- so rollers became a girlâs best friend. Women began to focus more on having flawless skin than anything else. The goal was a peaches and cream complexion.

The 1960's:
Mimicking the popular skinny models of the day women became obsessed with being rail thin. In terms of fashion and beauty, two polar opposites emerged: the hippie flower child and the modern swinging 60s woman. The hippies put more of an emphasis on peace and love, than on style and beauty. On the other hand, the âTwiggy-girlâ put some time into her appearance and body. Luck for all the guys out there, mini skirts became popular again. Hippies went for low to no maintenance hairstyles. They usually avoided makeup all together. More modern girls also went for low maintenance 'dos, but they opted for short pixie cuts as opposed to long hair. The big emphasis was on the eyes -- bigger and wider the eye appeared, the better. Fake eyelashes were a must-have, and mascara was applied to achieve the popular tarantula lashes.

The 1970's:
The 60s forever changed the way women viewed their bodies. By the 1970s, the thinking-thin phenomenon was in full force. It was official-- being thin equaled being sexy. Clothing was loose and flowing, but the mini skirt of the 60s gave rise to the micro mini of the 70s. The late Farrah Fawcett revolutionized the way women styled their hair. Her long, layered, feathery haircut became the look that every woman wanted to have. This decade also marked the beginning of the bronzed beach look and with it, the popular tanning booth trend. Women began relying on bronzers and self-tanners, things many women (and some men) still canât do without.

The 1980's:
The aerobics exercise craze of the 80s further emphasized fitness for women. Women were expected to maintain a certain weight, but still appear toned-- all without being too muscular. This decade also epitomized over-the-top fashion. Bright neon, matching suits with football player-sized shoulder pads, and spandex were just a few of the quintessential trends of the decade. 80's hair = big and hairspray. Over-the-top makeup was the look of the day. Women opted for brighter colors, like the infamous blue eye shadows and liners. Also bushy eyebrows were considered very sexy.

The 1990's:
Models like Kate Moss further perpetuated standards of extreme thinness. The âheroin chicâ trend also came about in the 90s-- a strung-out and emaciated appearance was the coveted look. Thanks to a few rebellious kids in Seattle, the 90s also gave rise to the popular grunge look-- evidenced by flannel shirts and an overall unkempt look. On the other side of the spectrum, the spandex and fluorescent color trends of the 80s stuck around for a good part of the 90s. Lycra was introduced, becoming perhaps the biggest trend of the decade. Midriff-bearing tops also became fashionable-

What Color Should I Dye My Hair And What Brand?

Rachel

So I'm dying my hair an unnatural color for the summer and originally was planning to dye it a bright fire truck red. I'm dying it today or Tomorrow and I'm in between the colors red teal or lilac. I have dark brown hair (I am bleaching) dark brown eyes and a medium skin tone. What color do you think would look best for me and what brand do you recommend ? Thanks so much if you answered!! Have a nice summer!

Answer
Dyeing your hair in the summer is the worst thing that could happen to your hair: Chlorine, the sun, all fades the dye faster and the sun causing your hair to get sunburned more.
Red, white & blue, it will go well for the Fourth!

Overlapping dye onto previously colored hair is what creates dullness and dryness. If you color your hair @ home or salon, let your roots grow out as long as you can stand, so the line of demarcation is easier to spot. Only run color through the lengths for five minutes to refresh the ends. To extend the time between touch-ups, use a gloss and deep -conditioning treatments. They will help smooth cuticles roughed up by daily wear & tear, and the hair will look shinier. ~ Harry Josh, hairstylist of the celebrities.

Celebrity wears two-tone hair dye all the time, trying to grow out their dye. They call that the ombre style.

Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

Can I dye the top of my hair a dark chocolate brown and ombre the bottoms in one sitting?

Casey

So I have ombre hair right now, but my natural hair color is a light blondish brown color so it goes from that color into a blonde color for the ombre. I think it's good for right now for the summer, but fall is slowly coming up and I want to change it. I want to keep the ombre but I want all of my hair aside from the ends to be a darkish chocolate brown color and then still have the blonde bits at the end for ombre. So my really question is, is can I get JUST my hair BESIDES the ends dyed?

Answer
Celebrity wears two-tone hair dye all the time, trying to grow out their dye. They call that look ombre hair color â darker roots, lighter ends â but colorists sees that fading. Women are wanting dimensional color with natural highlights that look like they've been playing out in the sun.

"Ombre is the number one poorly done color in this country! It takes a lot of blending and finesse to look natural. The key is to highlight the whole head, then deepen just the roots. Unfortunately, a lot of the ombre I see today is bad - I'm ready for that to be retired! Dye should make hair look expensive and chic. Otherwise, what's the point?" ~ Harry Josh, Hollywood's top hairstylist, who have given Gisele ombre color for 13 years.

i like to be fashionable but im rather clueless on accessorizing. Also id like cute but AFFORDABLE! Outfits that will help me stand out. I like the rock and vintage look.
just fyi i do listen to rock and that im looking for what types of things to put together for outfits and that....

Answer
Flare jeans are in. Or boot cuts.

A good pair of boots are a must. Steve Madden has some cute ones. Check out the Nordstrom sale. There are some cute ones in the juniors section.

Steer clear of the feather in your hair. It is becoming overrated. The 2nd graders I help out with have it and so do their moms! DO NOT get one. Or rip it out now if you have one.

Neutrals are pretty trendy and make everyone look good. Im not really into bright, annoying colors. Florals are okay though. Urban Outfitters is pretty much the place to be this fall. Or Delias and ZARA.

Good luck!

I know it may sound like a silly question, however I heard that it is not safe to color your hair during pregnancy or / and during time of trying to conceive. What do you guys think ? After being in the pool all summer my hair looks terrible. Also I only use 24washes Color not permanant .Thanks soooooo much !!!! Nicole ; o )

Answer
As long as you aren't viciously massaging the dye into your scalp, you're alright. Highlights are even safer because the bleach rarely ever gets on the skin. Semipermanent hair dye is obviously safer than permanent, but if you aren't pregnant yet, don't stress about it at all. Make sure you have a window open and a fan going.

Hair color that is safe to use during pregnancy?

Michelle R

I bleached my hair a while back so it is blonde right now but I really miss the dark brunette hair I used to have (I used to dye it a dark reddish brown color) and I want that color back because I don't care for my blonde hair anymore. I am 13 weeks pregnant and I know hair dye isn't considered safe during pregnancy. Does anyone know of any kind that doesn't have toxins or knows a kind that is safe to use? If not, how can I darken my bleached hair so I can get it to be brown again?

Answer
I've heard that henna is considered safe since it is a natural dye.

Why do women in the Black community purchase their hair products from non-black suppliers?

Q. I am a person interested in starting my very own beauty supply center. I would like to know if Black women would prefer to purchase thier products from a Black supplier as opposed to someone outside of the community. After speaking with several sisters, I became concerned about people outside our community capitalizing from something that we place so much time and money into. I would like to solict any ideas about how you can be served better in the hair industry.

Answer
well its easier for Koreans in my area to open shops since alot of the products and hair are made there or close to it. i would highly suggest you open one in a black neighborhood. I'm tired of asking them questions and they dont know the answer but they hired a black guy to do security and answer questions. im from Detroit, hair capital and i have yet to see a black owned beauty supply. if it was one here i would drive there no matter where i lived. nothing against Asians but they own all the lee beauty supplys lol or nail salons. at least some nail salons have upgraded to tami taylor. its hard to discuss any hairstyles, hair, or relaxers with them. i dont understand why some salons dont have a beauty supply? and also one that is reasonably priced. please open up one if u can in whatever area you are in. im completely sure they would flock over immediately knowing that it is black owned and operated.

Which hairstyle do women prefer men to have?

Memories

I'm asian and I have an oval shape face. Which hairstyle do most women like on men? Pictures will be greatly appreciated. And I know it's all about confidence, but I'd like to hear people's opinions on this matter.

Answer
I'm not sure about hairstyles for you specifically, but in a more general sense, I prefer guys with shortish, slightly messy hair. Just enough to run my fingers through, but not so much that he could ever be mistaken for a girl.

Here's about the longest I find attractive: http://images.gigjunkie.net/a01d3055-3f25-492f-8433-2a47fac52c6c.jpg

Something like this (or roughly this length) is my favorite, personally: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaw7rcOw7Q8aE6LSvTI3Ax1FR9QWUFmt0sgzOVu-O9WH4AJefmUwaqHpffnbXU_PhrGK-w7jm1cwDBxylwJJCSstw4iz2cgEsRot2vNGKGI6O7QdBR2RanfSnRZlhhDuXaZX9uiAUdJro/s1600/Robin+van+Persie+13.jpg

I'm getting a 9 month old male sheltie pup and it's my first sheltie and I need some information on it.Can someone please help me?

Answer
The Shetland Sheepdog bears resemblance to the Rough Collie. Strong, nimble and lightly built the Sheltie is a fast runner and can jump well. Shetland Sheepdog puppies are beguiling and exhibit a desire to please from a very young age. Intuitive and responsive to their owners' wishes, they make charming family pets. Take care that they are not startled, teased, or left alone as the Shetland Sheepdog can be barky when excited or lonely.

Other Names: Sheltie

Weight: 14 - 16 lbs.

Colors of the Shetland Sheepdog: Sable, tricolor, blue merle, black and white and black and tan.

How were white German Shepherd Dogs bred?

God'sChild

And how did they breed them to be be pure white?

Answer
[4Her4Life]:
You are simply wrong all the way through your first paragraph. If you want to learn some genetics, you could start in my The_GSD_Source: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/The_GSD_Source (which is a "storage" group) then move on to a geneticist friend's GSD_Genetics: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/GSD_Genetics for discussion.
In your second paragraph, realise that the UKC (ditto the ACA, ARBA, Con.KC, IKC, NKC, etc) has NO credibility except to those Yanks who pay fees to it. No KC in the world will accept its registration papers, judges licences, titles, obedience qualifications. Therefore there is NO "White German Shepherd" breed. But in the FCI nations (basically the whole world except the rebel nations of Britain, Canada, the USofA) there is the Berger Blanc Suisse, which began as white GSDs with no non-whites in the closest 6 generations then were reregistered as BBSs by the Swiss KC: http://www.fci.be/uploaded_files/347a2002_en.doc
Also recall that the UKC allows GSD breeders to choose whether their white pups are white GSDs (which CAN be shown as GSDs in UKC rings) or as WGSDs (which can NOT be shown as GSDs in UKC rings) - some Yanks have no trouble believing 20 impossible things before breakfast, eh!

[Jenny Manyteeth]:
You're obviously a city-kid and a fan of whites.
There are MANY reasons for banning white GSDs. They were tolerated while they were needed to help build up breed numbers, despite that they are unsuitable for almost EVERY task that GSDs were designed to perform. Every sheep farmer requires his/her HERDING dogs to be dark on top and have a dark face, so that the sheep react appropriately. The white sheep dogs are GUARDIANS that sleep with the flock, and are usually bigger than BCs, BSDs and GSDs.
And no, the original GSDs were NOT "long-coats" - in GSDs the long-coats lack an undercoat, so are totally unsuitable for working outdoors. There used to be FIVE coat-types in the German Sheepdog types, but 2 of them were very quickly bred-out of GSDs - one of them being the rough-coat that you confuse with long-coats. Rough-coats being caused by a simple dominant, they were easy to avoid.
As for that "hard, difficult to manage" temperament... I've imported 3 German bitches and used several German studs. EASY to manage! My second English bit.ch and my first German bit.ch hated each other (both imported at about 3 years old), but were manageable running loose provide we didn't allow them to both disappear out of sight at the same time.
When your awareness catches up with the rest of the world you will discover that the adults at the British Sieger Event have to possess SchH in order to enter and then have to perform the seek-bail-escort (Part 3 of SchH) at the show, as do entrants at THE SiegerSchau. You will also discover that in Scandinavia and much of Europe no GSD litter can be registered unless both parents possess SchH plus hip & elbow Pass certificates. In Australia, SchH & RingSport are now illegal except in Queensland, but no GSD litter can be registered in Australia unless both parents possess hip & elbow certificates and a haemophilia negative certificate, and each pup must be a Standard colour.

[Summervl..]:
The alleles for producing white dogs appeared LONG ago, well before there were actual breeds (just "types" - bandogs, bird-dogs, sleeve-dogs, terriers, hauling dogs, herding dogs, scent-hounds, sight-hounds; all dogs had to earn their keep, even m'lady's pet sleeve-dog had 4 functions), let alone before there were dog shows.
In some breeds those alleles were treasured and so were selected-for.
In other breeds they were unsuitable for the breed's purposes and so were selected against.

To understand what's happened you first need to realise that there are 2 pigments available to be injected into the hairs of dogs.
·· Eumelanin normally produces black hairs, but recessive modifier-genes can degrade it to liver or blue or Isabella.
·· Phaeomelanin normally produces rich tan, but dominant modifier-genes can degrade it to fawns, creams, and even chalky-silver.

In white dogs, BOTH pigments are blocked - the hairs emerge without pigment, and so are transparent. They don't absorb any colour, so the full spectrum is refracted through and reflected off them. We see the full spectrum as white.

⢠Eumelanin is blocked by the recessive e^ e^ pairing. Dogs with a brown-all-over coat are showing the effect of that pairing.
⢠Phaeomelanin is blocked by (in at least the Samoyed - I'm not yet certain about the GSD) the recessive a^ a^ pairing. Dogs with a black-all-over coat are showing the effect of either that pairing (as in GSDs) or of the dominant K^B allele at a different locus (as in Labradors).
So dogs that have BOTH a^ a^ and e^ e^ can produce NO coat pigment, but do produce normal skin pigment and eye pigment. (They are NOT albinos!) I've not yet checked whether e^ e^ K^B also produces self-white.

My natural hair color is medium ashy blondish (lol). About a month or two ago I dyed it this reddish dark brown color (I used a boxed dye) and I'm not really feeling it anymore. How do I go back to my natural color?

My roots are coming in, btw.

Answer
What I did was, once I was tired of my dyed hair color, I went out and bought a box of dye that matched my natural color perfectly (or pretty darn close). Then, as my true roots continued to grow in, no one could tell!

How can I get my natural hair color back?

mizztaylor

Ive dyed my hair a million times and my natural roots are starting to come back. Im sick of my dyed hair and I just want it to all go back to normal. Its starting to look bad with my brunette roots and the rest of my hair blonde. Is there anyway I can wash all the blonde coloring out. I want all my natural hair color back? Could I get that done at a salon or something?

Answer
Since your hair is blonde, it will possibly be easier to get your natural color back simply by dying it something close to it. However, if you've used red hair dye in the past I wouldn't -- that stuff sticks and likely messes up any color (besides black, in my case) even when dying over it. If you have a darker brown for your natural hair color, you may not have this problem when dying over the color you have now since it's so dark.

Another thing you can do, which I don't recommend since you've dyed your hair a million times, is stripping it. This is very unhealthy for your hair and could cause terrible breakage, but you will be able to get your natural color back if your hair doesn't get absolutely destroyed while doing this.

You can get both of these done at a salon, as well as with drug store products. If you decide to go for the stripping, do NOT use a drug store product for this.

How can I look younger at 24 years of age?

Athena on

It's strange, but some people have been telling me I look 30! It's been coming from people who are older than me though. How can I look younger? I really do not know why people think I look older. I have black hair with red underneath.
I think I look 24. I'm not posting a pic here. People rip you apart here.

Answer
when i first saw your boldfaced question (without the details) i thought-"WHY on earth would she want to look younger than 24..that's the perfect age! i'd kill to look 24 again!--b/c i AM 30" then i read your details and understood.
----------
i'm not quite sure how your dressing but perhaps you're dressing more business-like and conservative compared to ladies your age. i'm not suggesting you dress like a tramp, but you can get lots of tips on tv shows like "what not to wear" and "10 years younger". (both shown on TLC -the learning channel)

sometimes just slight changes about how we wear our hair or adding a little changes to our clothes can make a WORLD of difference.

related clips will be on the side of course and you can find some that you like.

make up, clothing, hairstyles, teeth. those are the major things that play a part in the way people guess your age.
get your teeth whitened if you think they may have gotten a little stained over the years.

heres a link to an article that answers the question "what hairstyle will make me look younger?"

finally. avoid the sun. where sunscreen everyday and use retinol based creams to maintain even skin tone, and avoid or lessen the look of wrinkles if you have them. i could have made a shorter point and addressed your specific problem but i didn't get an exact idea of what you wished to fix.
i highly doubt you have any wrinkles to begin with, but if you live in an area by a beach or have tanned a lot or been through frequent stress or worry it is possible. PREVAGE makes a WORLD of difference there as well.

so you may ask--if i know all these tips why would i "kill to look 24 again" rather than making it happen.. b/c i just had a baby. and my weight makes me look older, especially since i can't fit into my cute clothes. when i get rid of this extra fluff(haha) then i'll probably get carded (like i did prior to the pregnancy.

What are the positives and negatives for men possessing 'feminine' qualities in their fashion?

Such as make-up, costumes(skinny jeans), long hair(emo hair)...
What are the positives and negatives in the fashion development?

Answer
Skinny jeans look alright providing the guy wears them with masculine shoes/tshirt/jacket etc. If the guy wears like yellow shoes or something (which seems to be the trend here in Australia atm) it can really look bloody stupid.

Long hair is alright, but I'm not a fan of the emo thing. I've dated guys with an understated pony tail or just longer hair before and it's been pretty cute. Less is more when it comes to hair. If guys start putting in lots of colours or streaks or cutting it all edgy and weird it can look ridiculous..

I think the 'skinny suit' is a great look for guys, whether it's formal or a skinny jacket with jeans. You know, you should watch the movie 'Alfie' starring Jude Law. The stylist found the perfect balance of style/feminine accents still in a very sexy masculine way. I give his style five stars.

I think the moral of my story is, less is more. Choose one trendy thing to stand out and then wear everything else in an understated way. Then you don't run the risk of looking tragically metro.

I hope this has helped in some way.

Good luck. x

How do find a good hair salon when you move to another city?

nyci_00

I have moved to another city and I would like to find a good hair salon. How do I know if I found a good one. What are some things I should look for in the stylist(s) and within the salon that lets me know that my hair will be properly taken care of?

Answer
(1) Ask people about their reputation as a salon.
(2) Are you looking for salons that do funky cuts & color, or are you more conservative?
(3) Have a consultation. Take pictures of the hair cut or color that you want & see if the stylist & you are on the same page.
(4) I think price kind of helps me know what kind of salon they are. If they have cheap cuts then they probably have stylist that are more new to the business. They may not be able to do fresh, new styles like a trendy, more expensive salon might.
(5) A middle-of-the-road place I go to in Kansas City is called Beauty Brands. Cuts starting at around $40+ and colors about $60+.
(6) I would still try to find someone that has been in the business a long time, and/or one that has been at a particular salon for a long time. This says a lot for me.

How do I get a better sense of fashion and style?

Dreamer123

I have a very bad sense of fashion. Every time I go to a store, I can't really tell which shirt or outfit is pretty or not pretty. My mom usually picks out most of my clothes and I have very little clothes because I don't have the time to go shopping and when I do go, I don't know what to buy. I read fashion magazines but I just don't have a very good sense of fashion. When I do like a piece of clothing, I always end up thinking that someone else would think that its ugly and end up not buying it.

Answer
Hi, I believe every person has problems with styling how to team different items together to look great and it not always depends on sense of style, more often it depends on mood and how you perceive yourself. If you are not sure in yourself you always will think that this clothes don't look on you good. First of all you should train yourself how to be confident in any outfit. It's probably the most difficult step, because second step how to choose clothes from shop it's very easy even if you don't think so.
So for beginning you need to find out which color pallet is yours (summer, winter, autumn or spring), because not all colors are suitable for everybody, in some of them some of people look great or can look washed out if colors are opted wrong.
According to your personal color pallet you can choose later your hair color right. Also you can choose haircut flattering to your face shape correctly, using this link http://beauty.about.com/od/hairbasics/a/flattering.htm
Then, you need to find out which shape is your body (apple, pear, sporty).
And every time when you go shopping you should remember about your color pallet and body shape. Approaching and buying clothes, only those one, which is from your color pallet and body shape save a lot of time and money, because you will know exactly that for example if you have wide shoulders you should buy jumpers only with V-neck even if you like boat neck. There are a lot of tricks to make your body shape ideal even so its not, just using right clothes.
If you are not fashion trendsetter and this is really difficult to play around different styles, opt for classic style. It means basic wardrobe with 10 basic items such as: shirt, jeans, pants, jacket, sweater, ballets, pumps, tunic, trench coat, dress. All these items must be in neutral colors from your color pallet, if white color is not flattering to you go for ivory or beige. When you buy all these essential items you can play already around this, for example you can afford to buy blouse with geometrical print or even animal print because you can wear this with navy jeans, black pants and black pencil skirt, and you will look always elegant. When you buy something remember one important rule "buy new item only if you can team it with three others from your wardrobe, if not - forget about it, look for another." Now a lot of different styles so you never will get lost you can do everything what you want just remember to be yourself. Here are some fashion blogs for inspiration, I would recommend them more rather then reading fashion magazines, just because there are real girls who are not models and who also making efforts as you.

How much will it cost to ombré dye my hair at great clips?

L1f3 i5 g0

I have light brown hair now, and I just want to start from the bottom half of my hair and slowly work to a light blonde.. How much would this cost?

Answer
Call them and ask.

Celebrity wears two-tone hair dye all the time, trying to grow out their dye They call that look ombre hair color â darker roots, lighter ends â but colorists sees that fading. Women are wanting dimensional color with natural highlights that look like they've been playing out in the sun. On Fashion Police 1-29-13 episode, Khloe Kardashian said: "I had that in 2011!"

That dip-dyed, dark-at-the-roots, light-at-the-ends look that half of Bondi is sporting looks, like, sooo last season.
Super colourist and John Frieda ambassador Harry Josh (responsible for Mary Kate Olsen and Rose Byrneâs recent brunette transformations) confirmed the news backstage at Zac Posen. 9-22-12.
Google: Best & Worst Hairstyles Grammys 2013. "Bonnie McKee
We're not actually sure who this is, but she should leave the two-toned hair to the pros."

Senior colourist at Oscar Oscar in Sydneyâs Paddington, Michael Kelly, agrees.
âItâs ratty, itâs tatty. It doesnât look luxurious. It looks cheap, like your colour has grown out and you havenât been able to afford to go to the salon and get your colour done. Girls see pictures on street style blogs and they want that hard, ombre look, but everyone ends up looking the same,â says Kelly.

Answer
Yes, your hair will get darker. The result might not look as natural as you'd like. It probably won't be a disaster but, if you want to color your hair medium brown, you'd be better off using a more typical permanent hair color like Nice'n Easy, Preference or Herbal Essences.

You can't "take out" highlights. The only thing you can do is to dye them the same color as the rest of your hair

Can I get my hair colored while pregnant?

Brittany

I am 11 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I haven't had my hair colored in almost 2 months and forgot to ask my Dr. if it was okay for me to color my hair? I usually go to the salon but I found this hair color that works really good on my hair and I do it myself WAY cheaper. BUT when I go to a salon they put it in foils and when I do it, I color my hair all over without foils would that be dangerous? Also can I get spray tanned while pregnant?

Spray tanning I'm not sure about but I believe my cousin was told she could as long as it was organic. Dying your hair is fine, even if you do an all over color. I've died mine 3 times now since becoming pregnant and my husband did it for me because the color I use at home is better than what I get in the salon! I use Garnier Fructic Herbashine - it's ammonia free and the color is awesome. It's best to use an ammonia free dye and use it in a well ventilated area so the smell doesn't make you nauseous. But go for it, it's perfectly safe it's not going to seep into your system or affect the baby at all.
