Should I dye my hair (guy)?

Austin

So I have never really liked my hair color and always thought it would be cooler to have a dark brown color. I have like an awkward medium between blonde and light brown. I've never dyed my hair before. The thing is, I don't want people to really notice. Should I dye it? What color? When? Should it be permanent or temporary? Thanks guys.

Answer
Hey Austin,
the most important thing is to go to a professional. You should NEVER dye your hair at home. The professional can give you good advice and can dye your hair so that it looks naturally afterwards. Trust me, it's really worth the money.
The thing you should consider is, that once you dye your hair and you want to keep your colour, you have to dye the roots every 2-3 months.
But generally, think about it and go for advice to your hairdresser.
Hope I helped.

I'm new to town and desperately need a good hair dresser for cuts and colors any suggestions?

Answer
I have a FANTASTIC one for you. I switched to go to him and have never had a better cut. His name is Kelly Orr at Salon U 512.266.4010. I am a Realtor and send him lots of clients who move to town. All are extremely happy...he does one of the news anchors hair too. The only catch? He's in Lakeway but it's worth the 20 minute drive...and it give me an excuse to get out to Lake Travis every 3 weeks! I hope you'll give him a try.

can anyone change my hair color in this picture to blonde?
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm39/bubblegumdrea/l_b4dc67f1371547b3990b43fa12ad394b.jpg

Answer
Yes, but you have to bleach it first. But yes, I've seen people do it all the time. I highly recommend getting it done by a professional, at least for the first time. He/she will make sure it looks the least damaged possible.

Remember that the second that your hair grows out, it will be immediately obvious you dyed it. However, this isn't seen as such a bad thing anymore (especially here in So Cal - for awhile it's been kind of trendy to have dark roots with bleach-blonde hair).

Hair color helpp!?

Q. I want to dye my hair but i'm not sure how it will look.
If you have any comments or suggestions please help.
this is my hair now:
http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll237/BrnEyedDancer/hahah.jpg

and this is how i want to dye it but I want the blonde parts to be just a little bit darker and the rediish parts to be a little lighter than my natural color so that my eye brows won't look so weird.
http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll237/BrnEyedDancer/Hairbest.png

I want to do it over the summer so that I can change it back before school starts again though if it looks weird.

Answer
What you want to do is considered "hair chunking"...it's a bit of an old trend, so not too trendy, doesn't look very good on anyone. I myself have long hair like you and skin tone, so I can relate. Best bet, just wanted to first mention, DO NOT cut your hair. Secondly, I understand you want to change your hair color, I do my own hair different color every 2 years. So let's see...I would not recommend any kind of blond on you, it would only wash you out and make you look weird. You want to stay with a nice creamy color to match your creamy skin. As for multi colors, which it seems like that is what you're going for, I would suggest subtle face framing highlights that are a bit lighter than your natural color.

So, to sum it up: As for an entire color change, no one can talk you out of that, so I would suggest going possibly a honey-brown (not blond), and again, as for multi-tones, I would suggest subtle face framing highlights a few shades lighter.

No BLONDE. It will not look right. Make sure your new hair color is creamy and shiny, not mute and mousy.

Good luck!

Which brand of hair color is best for covering gray?

Sallix

Thats not harsh on your scalp, or hair! I am in my 30's I face the fact that I am gettng older! But not ready for the gray! About 1/4 of my hair is gray!
I have medium brown hair.

Answer
Hello, I have been doing hair for many years and the one thing I love most is color. Which ever brand you decide to use over the counter make sure you turn the 20vol ume developer into 10 volumee developer. A 10 volum will deposit and put pigment back into the hair, and a 20 volum or above will lift. So what you need to do is take the developer and use equal parts with water. If there is 1oz of developer then dump 1/2 ounce out and replace with water, and mix with all color, and apply to hair for 45 min. When it is 10 vol. it will shut off automatically when processes complete with out damaging your hair. Plus it will give you full Grey coverage. I hope this helps take care and good luck.

What is the best hair color for covering stubborn gray hair.?

~**badboys

I have medium-dark brown hair with one streak of gray right in the very top of my head. It hadn't bothered me before, I had just accepted it as a normal part of getting old, I'm 35. Well it didn't bother until the other day, my much older sisters (4, ranging in age of 48 to 52 and are also gray headed) were making fun of me just because of one little streak. Kinda hurt my feelings a little. Well, anyhoo, I've decided to start dying it and I would like your opinions of hair coloring products on the market today, what do you think are the best ones to use. Thanks very much.

Answer
I'm only 26 and I've had the same issue for a few years now so don't feel bad. :-) I was told by a colorist in an Aveda salon that a light shade such as blond would obviously help, since you usually can't even spot grey mixed in with blond. The grey would appear to be platinum highlights. However, my hair is dark brown and I'm not willing to damage it again by going blond, plus it's ridiculously expensive to have your roots done every few weeks at the salon. So I tried several SEMI-permanent hair color shades and brands (supposed to last 24 shampoos) that were specifically advertised to cover grey, but even the black one made no different at all on the grey after about 2 shampoos. I wasn't willing to try anything permanent, since I know if I screw things up my hair would end up doubly damaged when I went to the salon to have them correct it. I know one streak can make you very self-conscious, especially since you're only 35 and probably look very young otherwise. Light blond or brown highlights are also an option, but they tend to be even more expensive than all over color. However, the maintenance is less often.

But if you're going to color it, I'd strongly suggest having it professionally done by a colorist who specializes in covering grey- at least the first time. I don't feel comfortable recommending any of the at-home products I used, since none of them were effective for me. I think that's a question best answered by a professional (who isn't trying to sell you something!)

Good luck with whatever you choose!

Hair color and a job?

M Abigail

I want to dye my hair red, like Ariel from the little mermaid red. It will only be that color no random streaks o other colors or anything. Just red. Will that hinder me from getting a job? I'm going on a job interview with my natural hair color but want to dye it over Christmas break.

The interview is for Trader Joes.

Answer
Trader Joes is known/notorious for being tolerant of alternative looks. Go to their stores, you'll find plenty of employees with tats or piercings or dreads or any combination thereof. I doubt that bright red hair will really hurt your employment chances.

Note that this observation applies primarily to TJ locations on the left coast. I've noticed that stores in other parts of the country tend to be much more conservative.

What hair color is good for an job interview?

one of a k

My hair dyed is fading away and I want a color that will best suits for an interview for a job.

Answer
It depends on what position you are applying.
But it doesn't make sense if they are blond or brown or black There is only one rule, they have to be clean and with neutral haircut and without original hair colour roots. That's all magic. Be tidy and interviewer will see that you care yourself.

Like Zacky Venganze, de bottom left corner one. Id like some links to real pics with that style so I can print and show the hair dude

THANKS FOR ALL

Answer
Get it cut a medium length, about 3 to 4 inches, and style it combed forward, messy, side swept or fauxhawkish--(fauxhawks are little out of style but still cool), or whatever's simple and stylish. Try to make sure you don't grow your hair out too much, though, because it can look kind of sloppy after a certain point, especially if it starts getting below your eyes.
Another thing to do, (which is totally up to you), would be to grow some hair out in front near your ears, (in the same spot where sideburns typically are) about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. It makes your hair look fuller and more trendy. Just make sure you don't get full sideburns! :P

Considering you're a male teen who wants longer hair, make sure you shampoo and condition on a regular basis... otherwise it'll get sloppy and greasy... blagh.
If you have poofy, curly, or frizzy hair, then get some hair styling gel or cream in the men's section. Flat ironing is an option, too.

Hope I helped and good luck :)

Hair Salons?

cacapipi

do you know any good hair salons in Miami or davie? i need to find a hair salon that does good highligts.. I'm planing on doing bright red highlights.. i have brown hair..

Answer
I don't live in Miami, but I am sure you could spend days trying to go through all the different salons out there. When you look at salons and particularly stylists, try to find ones that seem to have hair similar to yours and also do it in a way that suits your taste. Get a cut to start, and then ask them about the color. If they seem confident enough, then give them a shot. It always helps though when your stylist understands your hair needs because she is also dealing with them. She'll know more products and techniques to suit your hair.

what is a good color for a tannish skin tone dark brown hair and dark brown eyes?

Answer
I have two personal favorites and I look exactly as you described. My first is called Miami Beet (lol get it?). It's a dark red color in no light, but once it's in the sun it's a nice magenta, red, pink-ish color which looks like beets I guess but not in a weird way. My second is Planks A Lot (they have such creative names). It's a lavender, bright, purple color which looks great on your skin tone. Hope this helps!

how to remove temporary hair color?

huny

My 10 year old daughter wanted to dye her hair a dark brown color .(She naturally has a light dirty blonde color) So i thought the safest way to do that was to use a Temporary hair color that i bought at Walmart. This temporary hair color should have washed out with 28 shampoos.Well the color never came out and im freaking out.The color is not fresh.
I will not take my daughter to the salon to do some hair damaging and have really strong chemicals to remove the color. i want to use something naturally to be able to take this color out of her hair. what can i do ????? please help
i put this color in my daughter's hair in july. the crown part of her hair has washed out more than the bottom part of the hair.

Answer
Temporary hair color washes out after one shampoo. What you're thinking of is a semi-permanent. It doesnt just, wash out after 28 days, it fades gradually, and faster than a permanent color. If her hair was virgin (never been chemically processed) then it will hold the color longer.

Do not try some crazy home remedy that someone gives you- those normally only further dry out and damage the hair. Just keep up, it will fade.

Oh, and don't just slap a lighter color over it and expect it to go back to normal, it wont. either it will turn orange, or simply not affect it at all, color-wise.

What about Hair Color Remover?

Stevie!

Can u really use a hair color remover even if u have had the dyed color on your hair for at least a month? what color will it make my hair?

Answer
Hair color remover will make your hair a million different shades, like a calico kitty. If you're going darker, like a dark brown or a black, than use the hair color remover. It is more likely that dark dye will go over the patchy colors evenly.

Unless you really, really hate your hair color and it must go away, I'd just wait it out. A good way to fade hair color faster is to use Head & Shoulders. It won't make the dye immediately go away but it will speed up the fading process.

14 year old hair loss?

Clare Anne

I am fourteen years old and I keep losing a lot of my hair. My hair is naturally thin but I can tell that it's thinning more. I haven't dyed my hair through out my life, I don't straighten it, I don't blow-dry it, I don't use any harsh chemicals in it. But I don't know why it keeps falling out. It mainly falls out in the shower and it's becoming noticeable. Luckily, there are no bald patches on my head, but around the parts of my hair ( like where I part my bangs) you can see more scalp, or it looks like the part is becoming wider D: .. does anyone know why this is happening and how I can stop it and grow back my lost hair?

Can I bleach my already lightened hair without ruining it?

rachel-mar

I used to have caramel colour treated hair then a week ago I dyed my hair blonder using a loreal home dye kit but it only lifted it slightly. Now I want to go even lighter so I've bought a James Russell's bleaching kit, now it says on the instructions 'do not use on previously lightened or bleached hair'. But what I want to know is whats really going to happen to my hair if I bleach it? Will it fall out? And would I be better buying just a regular blonde non bleach hair dye instead?

Thanks for any answers!

Answer
Not knowing the current condition & texture of your hair, 50/50 chance.

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

The allergic reaction was caused by a well-known brand of semi-permanent hair dye Chloe used to turn her hair black for a Halloweâen party. . . . . called for beauty bosses to ban hair dye chemical PPD (para-phenylenediamine) from the shelves. 11-04-11

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Itâs made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Itâs well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time.

what should 14 year old boys hair style be?

Jimbo

im a 14 year old and im 'oriental' what hairstyle would suit me, be specific and please give me examples thanks

Answer
Among the appropriate haircut styles for most fourteen year old boys in the summer would be a regular layer or taper cut- about three inches on top, brushed to the side and mostly off the forehead, ivy league(long crew cut), crew cut or flat top crew cut.
regular layer cut, before; short crew cut, after:
http://books.google.com/books?id=gEwEAAAAMBAJ&lpg=PP1&pg=PA46#v=onepage&q&f=false
ivy league(long crew cut) :
http://www.gstatic.com/hostedimg/9ebcfb16c33e10c7_large
Some barbers describe an ivy league as a crew cut just long enough to be parted and combed to the side, if so desired. An ivy league is usually worn with the hair brushed up off the forehead to form a short pomp front, and can also be worn with the short bangs brushed down on the forehead like a forward brush cut.
medium crew cut:
http://books.google.com/books?id=XFQEAAAAMBAJ&lpg=PP1&pg=PT1#v=onepage&q&f=false
http://books.google.com/books?id=x0EEAAAAMBAJ&lpg=PP1&rview=1&pg=PA44#v=onepage&q&f=false
A barber with a good aesthetic sense can usually design a short pomp style to fully suit most guy's head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features. Try an ivy league and then if you want to go shorter, go for progressively shorter crew cuts.
Edge: tapered or outlined
http://www.gstatic.com/hostedimg/9655e4d21019bc04_large
[crew cut above illustrates an outlined edge around the ear arches and an edge tapered to the skin at the nape of the neck. His crew cut is about 1.4" at the front hairline; 0.35" at the back of the crown; #1.5 blade around the ear arches and sideburns; #000 blade at the edge of hair growth at the nape of the neck.]
To know the approximate length of a hair in a photo of a particular style: measure the face length in the photo from the center of the front hairline to the tip of the chin; measure the hair in the photo; assume an average eight inch adult male face length; proportionally adjust the lengths of the face and hair in the photo by assuming the length of the face in the photo is eight inches.
To grow out a short summer style and have a nice looking style as it grows out and assuming an average rate of hair growth of 1/8" per week and haircuts every three weeks: short crew cut; medium crew cut; short ivy league; ivy league; long ivy league; regular taper cut. At this point there will be around three inches on top and the back and sides can start to grow over the ears and collar with haircuts every six to nine weeks to add shape and even up new growth.
A control wax will keep the hair looking well groomed at crew cut and ivy league length. A butch comb also helps- the small, flat, plastic, oval, pocket brushes that one finger fits through and barbers sell for about a dollar. A boar's bristle military brush is available for a few dollars and is nice to have at home.
Clippers, Blades and Guards:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Crew_cut#Clippers.2C_Blades_and_Guards
Basic short cuts:

http://i51.tinypic.com/2958em9.jpg
http://www.yalealumnimagazine.com/issues/02_04/old_yale.html
Grooming any of the short pomp(pompadour) styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same and takes about a minute or two.
1) Towel dry hair.
2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.
3)Transfer wax to palms.
4) Smooth palms over hair.
5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front.
Whichever style you decide on, be sure to take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber. If you need photos of any of the styles discussed above let me know.
Good Luck!

Tell me different hair styles adopting for boys?

Usually boys have short hair I thought there is not more hair styles than girls.. Tell me some of the hair styles which newly introduce in this 2009 yearâ¦

Answer
For young boys, hairstyles are usually not an issue until they turn 13 and are more socially aware of trends and what to fit in more. This makes the job of parents much easier as we can keep their hairstyles sweet and simple. Boys' hairstyles will usually range in three styles with some different variations. Hair Color Tips/Opinion?

Q. Hi there

I have been thinking about coloring my hair but dont really know where to start.

Here is a quick background info: Born blonde and up until about 10 years old i was very blonde, then puberty must have kicked in and decided to change my hair to brown which is what it is now. I just think its kind of dark and dull and wouldnt mind lighting it up a bit with blonde or a lighter brown perhaps.

Ok first of all in your opinion would i suit going blonde from the current picture. Or perhaps a lighter brown. [ http://www.st18x.com/images/signatures/ryan.jpg ] Thats my current hair style and color.

If yes, should i do it myself? are there any tips for this... i have tried it once years ago and my hair ended up an orange color. Did i not leave it in long enough?

Or should i get it professionally done, what do i ask them to do?

Thanks for any help you can provide!!

Ryan

Answer
it looks fine as it is. i dont think blonde would suit you, but if you really want to change ur color, perhaps go a little lighter but not blonde.
btw; u probably didnt leave it long enough. did u wait 30 min? if u did, then maybe u should consider a professional. u wouldnt want to end up with orange hair again :)

u remind me of matt dallas in that pic lol.

but yeah u look fine with brown hair.

What would make me over (Hair, Color, Glasses. ect)?

.

I'm 15. I'm not asking this question because I'm looking for attention. I know I'm not the prettiest color in the rainbow either. I just need to change my look, I've had it for years, and just want to feel pretty. Do you have any suggestions, hair color (I was thinking I would change my hair to blonde in the summer), Glasses, and a new hair cut. Thank you so much.
P.S In the picture, I have absolutely NO makeup on.

Answer
For hair, maybe you can get side bangs. I think it'll look good on you. :)

If you decide on going blonde, maybe try a blonde, like this:

http://www.becomegorgeous.com/img/user/a/0/d/4/bethskiis/answers/63625.jpg

I also think you would look good if you dyed it red, like these:

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN7WU7W6nOj3pADIzMrRv8MxCLk6HmIa40flhOY0tLWxckrWYqqw8daJxqoBtMsWyUr90OUK1dks_VZj45muUn91j5bkMrwlfb2w_7-N8Bsl29QfwvKnQeOTfv-RMH9N2PcpPxAP0umAY/s1600/girl,makeup,red,hair,bryce,dallas,howard,hair-2e1b8494af460c330a9ce49a4cc78612_h.jpg

http://images2.fanpop.com/images/photos/4200000/She-can-pull-any-hair-color-off-hayley-williams-hair-4245088-406-550.jpg

Black is an option, too:
http://sneakapeekbymillie.tumblr.com/image/31907618419

For glasses, the ones you have are okay. Maybe get thicker, more rectangular ones, like these, if you want something new:

http://www.firmoo.com/frame-images/1406/middle-unisex-plastic-eyeglasses-2778.jpg

I think you can even rock the big nerdy ones, if you wanted to :)

http://www.ragehats.com/images/stories/nerd_glasses.jpg

And I guess some light makeup, like lipgloss, eyeliner, and mascara. You look good natural. It's just somedays us girls want to feel really attractive, right? Makeup can easily do that. :)

Remember, also. The majority of attractiveness comes from confidence. Confidence is what is beautiful. Sounds cliche, but it's true. Smile, be happy with who you are, and you'll notice others wanting to be around you.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your makeover!  :D

What is the best at-home hair coloring product?

jc

I've gone to the salon twice now to get red highlights in my dark brunette hair, but still am not satisfied with the results. It isn't enough red and the red slowly fades to a blond-ish red.

I wanted to dry an at-home hair coloring kit, but am not sure which brand to choose. I've heard L'Oreal and Garnier have good ones... what are your opinions?

Also, am I supposed to wait a certain amount of time after going to the salon before using an at-home coloring product? I went to the salon on November 14th (ten days ago as of today, November 24th).

Thanks! =]

Answer
Lo'Real Feria is good. In general you would want to wait between 6 to 8 weeks between coloring. you don't want to run the risk of over processing your hair.

Is there any home products i can use to lighten my hair this color?

Xiotchi

i have dark brown hair and i want it this color without having to re-dye it or go to a salon.

http://www.haircolorsideas.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/light-brown-hair-color.jpg

is there any house products i can use? i heard of cinnamon and honey being able to lighten hair but will it get it this color?

Answer
I know this isn't a home product but it's pretty amazing and it definitely works. I recently used John Frieda's Go Blonder Spray. It's just a spray that you use on wet hair after you get out of the shower and then blow dry. I had jet black hair so i had my doubts but then I used it and now my hair is the brown shade i wanted. For me it took about 7 days to notice results because of how dark my hair was, but for you it should be different if your hair is already brown. It's great because you can control how light your hair gets just by the amount of spray you use. It's really easy and it goes for about 6 dollars in my area. Hope this helps!

NYC salons?

Lindsay P

I've had the same haircut forever now. I'm always terrified to get it cut and colored for fear it will look horrendous. I've finally gathered the courage to blow my work bonus (small as it is) on a haircut in NYC. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a salon that could give me the best haircut of my life. I don't want to spend $500 for a haircut though. I also don't want some crappy place where I could get the same haircut at home without traveling 5 hours. I want to walk into work the next day and have everyone tell me I look amazing. Basically I want to walk into the salon and say "do whatever you want. Just make me beautiful."

Any good places to get my hair colored in El Paso, TX?

Elizabeth

Answer
Texas, or Oregon, NYC, or Chicago . . . . there are no best places to get your hair colored. There is never a guarantee about damaged hair, or hair loss, or hair color gone wrong, done @ home or salon.

Go to YELP or Craigslist and read reviews or post on their message boards there from your city, or search name of salon under Better Business Bureau.

Google Salon Hair Dye Lawsuits. About 336,000 results (0.17 seconds) Dec. 2011
When it comes to hair care treatments, product use or visits to a salon or spa, the consumer must take responsibility to do their homework and be aware of all the risks involved.
Vanessa Minnillo Lachey: "I dated a guy once who wanted me to have blonde hair. Clearly, he was the wrong guy for me! I went to a lady who bleached my hair and it literally fell out. So, not only did I go back to my natural hair, I broke up with the guy!"

One example: MY HAIR DRESSER DYED MY HAIR GREY. I've been crying for the last 2 hours, I want to kill that bish for destroying what was amazing bleach blonde hair. AND to make things worse, she cut my extensions WAY too short.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.
Example: "My hair is right about armpit length as it is, but I've severely damaged it by bleaching it all at once. As a student of cosmetology myself, I would have to say that it was probably one of the worst mistakes I could have ever made."
Another example: ok i did my hair yesterday i DIDN'T bleach it ,but im not sure what its called but she took the color out of my hair and then dies it a blond color and my head was on fire it killed me so after that i hated my hair color so i colored it my self a darker color, it looked so ugly and it burned me again it rully hrt so after i washed it my mom checked it for me and found small spots of blood all over my top scalp like over 20 of em now im scared and don't know why its there is it from the color am i sick and something is wrong ??

Damaged hair, please help. :c?

Okay.
I've bleached my hair twice in the last two months, and dyed it probably 2 or 3 times.
I know it was stupid, don't remind me. Lol.
Anyway, does anyone have any home remedies for damaged hair? I've been using conditioner, and very often. Also I've tried putting eggs on my hair, but it left my hair nasty-smelling. :c

Answer
Natural hair means no relaxer, no chemical to straighten your hair out, no styling heating tools. The way it grows out your root, thatâs the way you rock it.
Best advice from Hollywood's well known hairstylist in the 80's once said: "Keep foods in your mouth and hair products on your hair." As you've already found out, does very little benefits to the hair.
Always choose a shampoo that's tailored to your hair needs. For example, certain shampoos are created for fine, curly, color treated, or dandruff-prone hair.

CARE: 1. Washing less often, builds the natural oil your hair needs, to get them smoother, shinier, silkier, softer. Man-made products are just temporary, until you wash them again, and at the same time washing off the natural oil your hair NEEDS. Hair products just absorb on your hair if they're dry, like a sponge. Shampoo & condition is all you need.
Jessica Simpson have figured it out, she said she wash her hair every week. She used to abuse her hair, then start selling hair extensions because her hair starting falling from all the chemicals, but she woke up and found out how to keep her hair healthy AGAIN.

When you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos or conditioners, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product donât actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain⦠along with all the money you spent on the shampoo. It is HOW you use to style your hair or what styling tools that damage the hair, and what chemicals you're adding to the hair, not the shampoo or conditioner.

2. If you want your hair soft, you can briefly blow dry it, set them in curlers or pin curls them, blow dry, let them cool off, take the curlers &/or pins, finger tousle the hair or brush lightly to style. They will be silky, soft, smooth & shiny (for straight hair).

3. Cutting your split ends yourself, spend 5-10 mins. on a sunny day so you can easily spot them, using a 2" scissors, cut strand by strand, section by section, allowing new growth to take over. Then 2x a year, get a good hair cut. This won't speed things up, but it will make the hair look healthier while it's growing. Even healthy hair like mine get them, due to normal brushing & styling.

DIET: If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" - Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

Help!....Hair coloring?

!

So I'm Asian and I have black hair (I honestly think it's a really dark shade of brown, though). My hair is pretty damaged from about 2-3 years of straightening, blow-drying, etc. But it's mostly only the ends that're damaged; I have a lot of split ends. I really want to dye my hair like this:

http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/guy-tang-west-hollywood-2?select=5TtFEROqbLPNn0dU1h7Yhg#y1_LJEuo213Vc3A1IYGOQw

But I'm afraid of having my hair so damaged that I would need a very short haircut...
Should I go for it or pass?
If pass, what are some other hair color suggestions that would do less damage? I really want to change the style!

Thanks!

Answer
oh totally! I'm totally Asian too. I died my hair brunette and it looks great. Of course I changed it because I was doing that for fun, though it would actually be nice. So go ahead and die it. Just get a hairstylist and ask them to trim the bottoms so at least you don't have damaged hair when you go for styling.

How much to dye hair blue?

So I want to dye my whole hair a Royal Blue color. Just like the one below:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/100162003/sale-blue-wig-royal-blue-wig-short-wig?ref=listing_favoriter&atr_uid=19658616

My hair right now is dyed blue in the front (though it turned a little green after 2 days). Here's my hair:
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=508290829202915&set=pb.466318253400173.-2207520000.1356995319&type=3&theater

I want to go to the salon and get it done this time instead of doing it myself and risk ruining my long hair. How much do you think it will cost to dye it like that?

Also I live in Brooklyn, NY if that helps the pricing.

Answer
It should cost anywhere from 60-150 depending on the salon you go to. The stylist will need to lighten your hair to a pale blonde first, and depending on how dark your hair is, this could take a few times to get your hair this light, and could be very damaging. They will then put the blue color on, which will be semi permanant and will gradually fade away in a few weeks.

how to find and asian hair salon that will cut mens hair this way?

Best hairstyle for really thick, fine hair?

Jenny Gord

I have long brown hair, and it's REALLY thick and really fine.. I'd like to get it cut really short like a boy-cut but short hairstyles only look good on skinny girls. Everyone says I should get layers..
Literally everyone I ask, says "You need layers!!"

but my hairstylist wouldn't give me layers..idk why. She said they wouldn't look good on me or something..
I really hate long hair because I don't do anything with my hair, I just brush it and put it in a ponytail everyday

***What do you think is the best hairstyle for long, thick, very fine hair?***

Answer
firstly boy cut hair doesn't only look good on skinny girls....secondly idk i cant give u exact details on what u can do on your hair becuz i dont know how ur face looks like and what suits you the best so what i do is to research pics of long hair just type in long thick fine hair and u will see pics then start looking for hairstlyes. LAYERS look good on everyone!! Dont listen to other ppl listen to what you want, sometimes you can ask your hairstylist whats their opinion and what do they think would look good on you. goodluck

What is a good hairstyle/haircut for thin fine hair! ******10 POINTS! ******?

Q. I am wanting to change my hairstyle because i am bored with it! Right now my hair length is just past me shoulders and my hair is a light brown color with layers. I also have side bangs which i hate because they don't do anything and are in the way and look really flat with no volume to it. they do not look like bangs at all!!! i and i have really fine thin hair so i don't know what style would look good with it. for doing my hair in the mornings usually just straighten my hair but it looks really bad! with medium length hair that just past my shoulders

I need a hairstyle that will be easy to do in the mornings and i will still be able to put up in a ponytail for work.

PLEASE INCLUDE PICS! so i can show my hairdresser the Style i was wanting. pics would help alot because i suck at explaining!

Answer
Having thin or fine hair does not mean that you are not eligible for the latest fashionable hairstyles and it does n't mean you can't try the new styles. But what you require is to get the right hairstylist and a few tips on selecting the hairstyle that suits your personality best. Take a look at these cute hairstyles for thin fine hair - short and medium styles and add color to your life.

If you have thin fine hair, a short haircut would help in adding more volume to it. If your hair is thinning at the end of the strands go for short bob cuts or short layered hairstyles and adding a a few flicks to them will give a stylish look. Going for a sleek bob cut would be great if you have straight thin hair or else you can go for side swept bangs, it will add more volume in the front and the viewers attention will be diverted from rest of the thin or fine hair.

If you have curly hair, then you 'll need to deal your thin hair with utmost care. Having a medium length hair is good for curly hair and women can opt for rollers if they love curls for adding more volume to the hairstyle. Since thin hair lose curls after certain period of time, you would need to pin the hair immediately after removing the rollers.

Crop haircut is also a better option available for women with oval shaped faces as they bring more attention to your facial features. They include tapered haircuts also giving a bouncy look to your hairdo.

Asymmetrical bob hairstyles are another option you can look at since it makes the short cut to look elongated creating an illusion of width and fullness at the bottom. If you have bangs that are neatly tucked behind your ear it will create more fullness adding to the overall volume of the hair.

If you have medium length thin fine hair, then the edges can be given a smart shape to look more beautiful. You can give it a diagonal forward moving line at the side and few light layers behind allowing your hair to gently touch your shoulders. Once its blow-dried, this light-layered medium length haircut will bring attention to your features as well.

hair styling product? (men)?

Mark

i'm wondering what the best kind of hair styling product would be, I'm half chinese and my hair always goes fluffy after i get out the shower so i use a product to stop that, i have very thick hair so sometimes some products don't really hold it for me.

normally i like to have a relatively tidy look on the back and sides and then mess it up a bit on the top, my hair is quite long, my fringe comes down to the bottom of my eye, when my hair is shorter i like to do a bit with my fringe so i'll put it up or something like that.

at the moment i'm using tigi bedhead wax but also sometimes i use vo5 surf style wax, i was wondering if there's any products which i should be using that are more suitable for thick long hair?

HAND LOTION: Matthew Morrison keeps his hair soft and smooth by using body lotion instead of styling products.
Matthew Morrison uses body lotion in his hair. The 32-year-old actor- best known for playing teacher Will Schuester in musical TV drama 'Glee' - claims his biggest beauty secret is his unusual choice of product for his locks, which he says makes them smooth and soft. He said: "My hair is very soft, right? It's because I put Lubriderm in it. It's just body lotion. "I used to use gel and products, but my hair got kind of hard. Then, one day I ran out of whatever I was using and that was the only thing there, this lotion. It ended up being the best my hair ever looked." Matthew's hair is often the subject of jokes in 'Glee' but he insists he doesn't mind because everyone is mocked on the show.

My dh have used that since Aug. 2011. His hair is softer, smoother, silkier & not frizzy or pouffy.

Justin Timberlake:
Singer-actor Justin Timberlake, who has naturally curly locks, says he tries not to use too many hair products because they don't control it.
"I am low maintenance all the way. It does not take me long. I find the more stuff I put in my hair, the more it sort of fights it. And I don't wash my hair a lot to be honest because I noticed it damages my hair more," contactmusic.com quoted Timberlake as saying.

The best organic hair gel for men ?

ZizOronPre

Which is the best organic hair gel for men ??? Pls let me know ^^

Answer
While a few hardcore brands of all natural or organic products have existed for quite some time, nowadays it is not unusual to see natural alternatives to most any product. Of course, this includes common purchases such as household cleaners, personal care products, and beauty products.

Most hair styling products that offer benefits such as hold, moisture, and shine contain ingredients like plastics and silicones. These types of ingredients often tend to cause an unwanted sticky and filmy build up on the individual hairs themselves as well as the scalp.

When it comes to hair styling products, men and women generally seek very different benefits and features. Due to the typical differences in preference, it is no surprise that many brands offer styling products designed especially for men.

Let's explore a few of the all natural styling gels designed for men:

Burt's Bees Natural Skin Care for Men Hair Gel

Made entirely of 100% natural ingredients, Burt's Bees Natural Skin Care for Men Hair Gel provides strong hold which allows for all day wear - without the sticky or crunchy feel of other styling products. Created with a blend of aloe and sunflower seed oils, the hair gel restores natural shine and luster without the use or harsh chemicals.

Priced at just $8.00, this product is available online at Burt's Bees.

Jason's All Natural Hi-Shine Styling Gel

A leader in all natural, pure, and organic hair care products for men and women with all hair types, Jason's All Natural Hi-Shine Styling Gel helps shape short cuts and provide impressive hold. Fortified with a blend of flax seen protein and flower extracts, the hair gel creates amazing shine while naturally protecting hair from damage caused by exposure to UV rays.

Priced at just $7.69, this product is available online at Jason Natural.

Aubrey Organics Men's Stock Ginseng Biotin Hair Gel

Created of a blend of all natural ingredients, the Aubrey Organics Men's Stock Ginseng Biotin Hair Gel contains only the finest all natural, organic, vegan-friendly ingredients. The blend of almond protein and herbal gums conditions hair while providing firm, lasting hold. Hairstyle for men :)?

So my hair is really curly and wavy but i got a straightener and straightened it. One of my friends suggested getting mousse and i did but am not able to style it nice lol! So I was wondering if you guys could get some pictures of kinda short hairstlyes that are cool and how to do them. thanks =]
I like the first one better thanks its like a faux hawk but with the front spiked sorta right?

Try this look; I LOVE it. it make me get butterflies when I see guys with it >////<

http://men-haircuts.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/mens-hairstyles-image-is0551.jpg

You just need to straighten it of course, maybe get a hair cut if your hair is to long, because if it isn't the right length that it look wierd. But just take the middle and put gel in it, and comb it up like a mohawk.

This hair dew is SO SO SO SO hot, You have to get it

http://scrapetv.com/News/News%20Pages/Entertainment/images-4/Robert-Pattinson-2.jpg

I'm so sorry, but I really don't know how to explain on getting this done. Just print the picture out and show it to a great professional that KNOWS what they are doing, and ask for the hair style, then ask them how to style it and do it every morning if you don't want to keep going back.

If you don't want to do the first one, you must must must do the second one. LOL

Good Luck :]
Girls will love it.

Hairstyle Advice for Men?

I have long thin blonde hair. My hairline is really high up on my forhead, and my hair is very thin and scarce. You could almost picture me as one of those metal head kids who just let their long thin hair grow and grow and they kindof part it over to one side. Im sick of this look. Is there any type of forum I can log onto and post pictures of myself, and receive advice and hairstyle tips from others? thanks =]

Answer
There's a website called dailymakeover.com
which allows you to upload your photo and try on different hairstyles, with different colors and whatnot. Usually it's for women, but I've seen men use it on occasion also, so that you could see a bunch of different looks. After you finish a look, you can put it in the gallery, and people can comment on it. Also, it's completely free.

So... I have a couple suggestions: you could cut your hair pretty short and spike it up (sorta the boy band look). Or you could do the waterpolo/swimmer guys' look and sorta have it shaggy and sorta crazy (but believe me, it sounds crazy, but women LOVE that haircut, especially if you're a little younger [I don't know how old you are, so maybe this wouldn't work for you]). You could just sorta have it cut short and just leave it, not really do anything with it and see how it looks... but few guys can pull that look off. You could also cut it just slightly and just have your hair over your eyebrows, , like bangs, so you can't tell that you have a high forehead.

Here's a couple of random photos too; I think they sort of match the description that you've given of your hair:

How do you treat course black hair?

Patrice

I am an african american female and my hair is thick and course and I also want to put color in my hair

Answer
You should try to avoid putting chemicals or heat in your hair in order to avoid dryness and damage. However, if you really want to color it, you should use the Fantasia IC for Color Treated & Chemically Damaged hair regularly once it's dyed.

It's really important to establish a good natural regimen to help you maintain healthy manageable hair.

SHAMPOO: Some would recommend shampooing every 7-10 days. I usually shampoo once every 2 weeks when I keep my hair in twists (I'm natural). You don't need to shampoo daily as that dries out African American hair--it's important that we keep the natural oils in our hair, which helps to keep our hair moisturized and soft. Many store bought shampoos contain sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates (SLS), which strips our hair of all its natural oils and leaves the hair very dry and brittle. AVOID THESE SHAMPOOS. Instead, find a shampoo that doesn't contain SLS or any other type of sulfates. Some good shampoos are:
-Giovanni (they sell this at Whole Foods)
-Aubrey Organics Honey Suckle Rose
-Trader Joe's Nourish Spa (very inexpensive, it costs about $2.49 in Boston, so i'm guessing about $3 on average nationwide--contains mostly organic ingredients and essential oils--however it does contain PARABENS, which have been speculated to be cancer-causing, but they are listed way down at the bottom of the ingredients list, which means that it contains very little of those chemicals--but just be aware)
**Basically look for organic shampoos that contain all natural ingredients.

CO-WASH: Instead of using shampoo, you can also co-wash your hair. Co-Washing is using a conditioner to cleanse your scalp instead of shampoo, which contains harsher chemicals and SLS. Conditioners have the same exact cleaning agents as regular shampoos except that they do not contain SLS that strips hair of its natural oils. So the conditioners are strong enough to cleanse your scalp but it does not strip your hair dry. Many African American women who have healthy soft natural hair co-wash their hair. Some do this 1x a week, 2x a week, others 3x a week--it all really depends on you and how often you need to cleanse your scalp.

DEEP CONDITIONERS: Deep conditioning is key to keeping the hair moisturized, soft, and strong. You can do this after every wash or even a few times a week without even washing your hair. Some natural/relaxed women deep condition 2-3x a week, many do it 1x a week or 1x every 2 weeks. Some do it after every wash if they're keeping their head in braids or twists.

MOISTURIZERS: AVOID PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN MINERAL OIL/PETROLATUM/PETROLEUM! The mistake that many African American/Black women make is that they use products such as "grease" that contain mineral oil/petrolatum/petroleum. These ingredients DO NOT moisturize hair. Instead, they're considered fillers that just coat the scalp and clog the pores. When they do this, they prevent your pores from "breathing", which causes your hair not to grow since the pores are clogged up by that gunk. You need moisturizers that actually PENETRATE the hair shaft, not just coat it. Some good moisturizers are:
-WATER--the BEST moisturizer for our hair
-Unrefined Shea Butter (you can order this online from butters-n-bars.com--the prices are also very reasonable. You can also get Raw Shea Butter from Whole Foods, but it's a little bit more expensive ($9.99/small jar)
-Mango Butter
-Cocoa Butter
-Aloe Vera Gel

Also, you can use natural oils to SEAL in the moisture. There are many good natural oils such as:
-Olive Oil
-Coconut Oil
-Grapeseed Oil
-Jojoba Oil
-Lavender Oil
-Lemon Oil

When you moisturize your hair, use one of these oils, rub it in your hands and massage it onto your hair in order to seal in the moisture so that your hair remains soft and moisturized.

COMBING: NEVER EVER comb your hair while it is DRY if it is natural! That's a no-no! Use WIDE-TOOTH combs to comb your hair and do so while it is SLIGHTLY DAMP or WET. Always spritz your hair with a little bit of water if it is dry and you're about to comb it. Combing on dry hair causes breakage, as well as using fine-tooth combs. And ALWAYS comb from the bottom up--make sure you're getting the tangles at the bottom of the hair FIRST before you precede to move further up the hair. It's also best to finger comb your hair--you lose less hair this way and can still get the tangles out. If you still want to comb your hair afterwards with a comb, it'll be easier since you took the time to separate your hair strands with your fingers.

TRIMMING: It's important to trim your hair evey 2-3 months in order to avoid split ends. This will help keep your hair healthy and thick as well as retain length.

PROTECTIVE STYLES: Wearing protective styles are a good way to retain length. Protective styles are anything that can keep the ends of your hair from being exposed such as buns. You can also do twists and braids (although you shouldn't make the braids too tight in order to avoid breakage around the edges, and if you are using extensions, don't leave the braids in for too long, 4 weeks max). Just make sure the ends of your hair aren't constantly touching your clothing so that you can avoid breakage and split ends, which will help to retain length.

SILK/SATIN SCARF & PILLOW: It's important to wear a silk or satin bonnet to sleep every single night. This will help to keep your hair moisturized and protected while you sleep. Other materials such as COTTON scarves absorb the natural oils in your hair and dry it out--so do not wear scarves or bonnets made out of cotton when you go to sleep. Also, make sure to use a silk/satin pillow case--sometimes your bonnet/scarf might come off, leaving your hair exposed. The silk/satin pillow case won't absorb the moisture in your hair and it won't cause friction in your hair, which can lead to split ends like cotton pillowcases do.

EAT WELL: Balanced diets are what promotes beautiful healthy manageable hair. Be sure to include protein (chicken, turkey, egg, etc), dark green vegetables, carrots (promotes healthy well-conditioned hair), sweet potatoes, poultry, soy milk. Vitamins are a really good way to help you get all of the nutrients that you need and will help promote healthy hair. Take a multivitamin, flaxseed oil, hair vitamins.

GOOD WEBSITES TO CHECK OUT: Here are websites to help you take care of African American hair:
-Youtube (so many good videos--if you're natural, check out RusticBeauty--also type in "natural hair", there are so many videos out there--if you're relaxed check out Macherhair, she too has a lot of good information that can apply to both natural and relaxed hair)
-http://www.nappturality.com (very informative if you're natural or thinking about going natural--much of the info regarding products and regimens can also be used on relaxed hair)

Please help me with hair dye styles and colours?

down from

I have light brown hair, it's shoulder length and I'm growing my fringe out. I really want to dye my hair, but I have no idea what colours or style. I know for certain I don't want to dye my hair one colour all over, I want at least 2 colours. Suggestions? :-)

Answer
Is Brown Right for You?

If at least two of the following apply to you, you are probably best brunette:

You're mousy brown now. Your natural color lacks the vibrancy of richer browns and virtually begs to be deepened.
You want a low-maintenance regimen. Unless you are naturally very blonde, the upkeep for brown hair is fairly easy â and at-home coloring is close to goof-proof, says Julia Youssef, executive director of L'Oréal Paris's Hair Color Technical Center and Product Evaluation.
Your hair is damaged and dull. Dark hair color reflects light best, hides breakage, and minimizes the flaws of abused tresses.

How to be the best brunette:
1. Match your brown to your haircut. To maximize the impact of your chocolaty color, go deeper and monotone if your hair is nearly all one length. If it's shorter or very layered, make the ends slightly lighter, and weave in high- and lowlights to emphasize the texture of the cut, says Marie Robinson, a colorist at the Sally Hershberger Salon in New York City (clients include Natalie Portman).
2. Go to the extreme. The most striking brunettes today are very dark or quite light, says Robinson. If your hair color is medium in tone, you blend â in a bad way.
3. Coloring at home? Go half-and-half. One of the most common at-home haircoloring errors, according to Robinson, is a brown that's gone orangey, often the result of applying a dye that's too "warm." If it's golden brown you're after, says Robinson, buy one box of golden brown and one box of neutral brown. Mix the two, then use the combo on your hair.
4. Steer clear of hairspray, if possible. Nothing takes the sheen off shiny brunette strands faster than dousing them with hairspray, says Robinson. If you must shellac, follow with a spritz of shine serum.
5. Beware of black. If you want to deepen your brown to anything beyond dark chocolate, visit a professional, says Youssef. Once you go blue-black, there's almost no going back. The only way to lighten up is with a pricey salon procedure that involves lots of damage â to your hair and wallet.

Makeup tips for brunettes:

Pile on the mascara and make it black. You need dark fringe to balance your dark strands, says Paula Dorf, a celebrity makeup artist.
Play with jewel tones on your eyes. Brunettes can get away with dramatic eyes.
If your dark hair makes your complexion appear too pasty, shimmery bronzer is your ticket, says Ross Burton, Lancôme's national artistic director.

Is Red Right for You?

If at least two of the following apply to you, it may be right to go ruby:

Your skin is on the pink side. There is a "right" red out there for most women, says Jennifer J, a Matrix celeb colorist and owner of Juan Juan Salons in Southern California (she colors Julia Roberts's auburn mane), but women with cool or pinkish skin pull it off best. Conversely, women with golden or olive skin have a tougher time finding one that's flattering.
You're no wallflower. Red is a head-turning hue, and you have to be self-assured enough to accept the stares, says Tasha Forgash, color specialist at Shag Salon in Boston. Colorist Sarah Gold, the guru behind Lindsay Lohan's formerly flame-colored hair, concurs: "Remember, red hair is like a sequined dress â it walks into the room before you do."
Your hair is in fairly good condition. If your strands are very dry or damaged, they will have a hard time holding on to small, red color molecules (which seep out of even the healthiest hair fairly quickly). Your mane has a better chance of becoming radiant red if it is well cared-for (read: you deep-condition weekly, get regular trims and don't heat-style every day).

How to be the best redhead:
1. Wash your hair as infrequently as possible. Ideally this would mean twice a week, says Parvine Klein, a colorist at the John Barrett Salon in New York City, but every other day will suffice if your hair is oily or very fine, says Jennifer J. On alternate days, you can rinse your hair with tepid (never hot) water if necessary â or dust your roots with a dry shampoo.

2. Avoid harsh shampoos. Most dandruff treatments are tough on colored hair, says Jennifer J. But they are death to redheads, accelerating the fading process by weeks.

3. Ask your colorist for a "to-go" kit. Jennifer J gives her redheaded clients a small vial of their hair color (at $45 a pop) to apply two weeks after their salon visit. This keeps the color looking bright and fiery all month long.
(Tip: If you can't get a to-go kit, using one of Nice 'n Easy's new Color Boosting Glazes, which will be available in March, can also do the trick.)

4. Cover up. Red hair color oxidizes faster than any other, says Forgash. So, if you're going to spend a lot of ti

How to get a hairstyle like Zac Efron ?

ashwin

I have thick, dark brown, somewat silky hair, and i thought of keeping a hairstyle like Zac efron(the swept-over one). I have to wear helmet while riding ma bike.. So wanna know if i can get this kinda hairstyle.. will it suit me.. and if yes.. then how can i get it ..?

Answer
it only suits on Men with Oval or Square faces
its not trendy hairstyle & it doesn't look cool.
here is the way
Place a small amount of gel-wax in the palm of your hands and then distribute it evenly throughout your hair. By applying just a small amount of gel-wax you will create hold and a semi-wet effect.
Using your blow-dryer and your fingers blow dry using this method, Use your blow-dryer and dry your hair using your fingers, separating your hair and allowing it to dry completely at the roots first then the mid lengths and then the ends. By making sure your roots are dry first will ensure that your hairstyle does not fall flat.
Apply a small amount of gel-wax to your fingertips then pull through the ends of your hair in a downward motion to achieve a semi-wet and textured effect.
Style Your Bangs to the Right Using Gel-wax Apply gel-wax to your fingertips then gently rake through your bangs, sweeping the hair to the right as you go. Gel-wax will give you shine and a soft hold.
Style Your Sides Down Using Gel-wax Using a small amount of gel-wax, work it through the mid-lengths and ends in a downward motion.
If you want a more textured, grungy look, use more gel-wax while pinching the ends as you go.
To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back.
Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
