im on the plumper side, could you tell me what kind of clothes and fabrics should i wear?

anshuka p

Answer
Ok, who said that plus size women cannot wear patterns??? ARE you nuts! You can wear a pattern but make sure that it is worn with a solid, and that it isn't a god-awful one (small, subtle patterns) Me and you need to go shopping. I can say this DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT wear any clothes that hug the body in areas that you are not comfortable with, cotton is good but it also shrinks or streches out. You can wear jeans with pockets just make sure that there arent any emblishments on them but if there are that they a subtle. You want to wear shirts that have a layered look to them or you may just want to layer but not too much. What i mean by that is, you have your basic outfit (lets say going out with the girls) jeans and a nice shirt well you want that to look damn good if your single so you would add a few accessories a necklace (if the shirt has NO emblishments and rule of thumb when it comes to necklaces...round colar round necklace, v-neck something that dangles, square go for something that is choker like), earrings (depending on how the hair is worn, dangles if it is up to elongate the neck, studs if hair is worn down. You can add a belt to the bottom and im not talkin about your average belt, i talking a scarf something that adds flair to the outfit and last but not least your feet!!!!! make sure that the shoe brings the outfit together. Also what you can do is if you have a printed shirt pick out one of the colors that dont stand out to you as much and work with it. Dont be upset that the blacks dont match exactly or the browns wont match exactly it is ok, you can offset colors by wearing on shade lighter or darker. I dont know what size you are or where you are but if you are in the northern virginia area hit the Lane Bryant Store in Reston any one of my girls there will help you out if im not there.....this is one thing that i love..dressing other people....BTW black is sexy if worn right and at the right time...ITS TOO DAMN HOT NOW TO BE WEARING BLACK!!!!!

Does anyone know why the African Americans felt excluded from the four the freedoms?

Answer
The term "African American" (aka Afro-American, Black American, or black) refers to approximately 33 million people who make up 13% of the U.S. population with predominantly African ancestral backgrounds. Although most are descendants of families that have been in this country for generations, others are recent immigrants from the West Indies, South America, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. Malcolm X is generally credited with popularizing and favoring the term "African-American" over the term "Negro," and in the 1960s and 1970s, there was some confusion over this term and the one called "Afro-American" because of the latter's allusion to hair style. In the 1980s, Jesse Jackson pretty much settled language on the "African-American" preference because it alluded to the experience of hyphenated Americans as much, if not more, than a geographic point of origin. Today, terms like "Negro," colored, and black are considered derogatory in many quarters, although "Black" still has some currency, although all terms have political overtones.

There are certain residential and economic patterns associated with Blacks who live in America. Residentially, their population density is quite heavy in the so-called "Black Belt" -- an area stretching down the East Coast from Baltimore towards Northern Florida, and filling in much of Virginia, the Carolinas, almost all of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and parts of East Texas. Economically, Blacks who immigrate to America do better than blacks who were born and raised in the U.S. A commonly thrown-out number is that the median income of African-Americans is approximately 55% that of Whites, or European Americans. Racially, many American blacks have Native American, white, or Latino ancestors. 87% of African Americans live in urban areas, and they are a young population, with a median age of 27, compared to the white median age of 34. Oppressed for over 300 years, discrimination in many forms is also a central part of the African American experience. It's estimated that every African American experiences about 200 incidents a year, from slurs hurled at them by passing motorists to cashiers who won't put change in their hand, to a whole variety of other unclassifiable events.

This is not the place to go into black history (see lecture: 10 Most Important Events in Black History), although it's important to realize that centuries of oppression cannot be quickly eradicated by individual initiative and drive. It's unrealistic to blame African Americans for failing to overcome most barriers because so many of those barriers are deeply rooted in our society. The weight of the past may be the biggest barrier to the future.

About 10 million (or 33% of) African Americans fit the Census Dept. definition of "poor." These poverty rates are extremely stable, and are the same as they were thirty years ago, same as they were fifty years ago, etc. They show no signs of budging, although there are slight yearly fluctuations. One of the problems may be a prevalence of female-headed single parents in the black community, at a time when white families have increasingly become dual-income units, but this is essentially the same observation as the Moynihan Report (1965) which has been widely criticized. Another problem may be employment insecurity. Blacks are overrepresented in service sector jobs ("McJobs"), where employment is less secure. Blacks are also overrepresented on unemployment and welfare rolls.

African Americans are the most segregated group in U.S. society. There are many ways to measure segregation, but the most common way is to look at housing and residential areas, calculating the amount of ethnic concentration in geographical areas. Blacks are also extremely overrepresented in city public housing developments. One concern about this problem has to do with health issues. The infant mortality rate for blacks in America is one of the highest in the world, higher than any industrialized country, and higher even than some third world countries. Black children in the 1-4 age range have mortality rates twice that of white children. Black teenagers have mortality rates 10 times that of whites, and homicide is a leading cause of death. Black adults have a mortality rate 30 to 40% more than whites. The death rates may have something to do with the fact that, percentage-wise, there are fewer blacks now in America than during slavery.

It may be useful at this point to take a side journey and explore the IDEOLOGIES of the black liberation struggle. Many people, blacks included, are often confused about the exact nature of these struggles. Most of the older leaders were assassinated before they could really articulate their plans, and there have been numerous splits and divisions since then. The most divisive issue has been the question of whether to establish a separate existence or integrate into the dominant culture. Separatism is further divided between tactical separatism and ultimate separatism, with the latter desiring a strictly black state. A concise summary is provided below with hyperlinks to selected figures that are considered revolutionaries (or criminals to the white establishment):

Malcolm X (1925-1965) started the separatist line, the creation of all-black communities, all-black institutions, and internationalization of the struggle. Martin Luther King (1929-1968) stressed the integrationist line, speaking of a time when little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. Booker T. Washington (1856-1915) stressed acculturation and adaptation to existing realities. W.E.B. DuBois (1868-1963) stressed the need for more government involvement in changing economic conditions which exploited blacks. Marcus Garvey (1880-1940) endorsed the "Back to Africa" movement. Stokely Carmichael, H. Rap Brown, and Angela Davis (circa 1964) led the "Black Power" movement, which was basically socialist and saw capitalism as the major problem. The "Black Muslim" movement, led by Elijah Muhammed and his more moderate son, W.D. Muhammed, also about this time desired racial separatism, and came to believe that white people were devils created by a black scientist named Yakub, and Allah was so upset with Yakub, Allah ordained that white people shall rule blacks for a fixed amount of time, although this ideology is more closely associated with a splinter group called the "Five Percenters". The "Black Panther" movement (circa 1966) was led by Huey Newton, Bobby Seale, and Fred Hampton as a paramilitary, self-defense group which included the goal of overthrowing capitalism, but the Party split in 1971 under Eldredge Cleaver who advocated providing services to black communities. The modern Black Panthers aim to expose blacks who sell-out. The NAACP is a justice organization basically pursuing an assimilationist approach, patterning routes to success after more model minorities (Asians). The National Urban League is basically a government watchdog group that supports the idea of more rational government programs. Jesse Jackson Jr. (not his father who is settling into life as a Presidential Special Envoy) basically embraces the unified people of color movement and its fight against neo-colonialism. The modern Black Muslim movement, called the Nation of Islam, is led by Louis Farrakan and is basically a racial superiority group for self-betterment, but has also been involved in anti-Zionism. The modern revolutionary struggle, with its Pan-Africanism and Black Nationalist thrusts, is called Kammaasi, and includes groups such as the All-African People's Revolutionary Party (AAPRP) and the Africa Reparations Movement (ARM) which reach out to all diaspora groups deprived of land, such as the Native Americans, Palestinians, and the Irish. Some of these groups are affiliated with the Communist Party, but some are not. The contemporary struggle primarily takes place on college campuses with black student associations. Also of contemporary and historical note is the holiday of Kwanzaa, a week-long celebration created by Ron Karenga in 1966. This person was the leader of a group called the United Slaves in the 1960s and 1970s, a radical spinoff group from the Black Panthers. After his release from prison in the mid-1970s, he became a Marxist academic (professor of Black Studies) and has been involved in other things, like the Million Man March.

SOCIAL CLASS DISCRIMINATION

African Americans exist at all levels of the American class structure, even the upper-upper class (the "black elite"). There are about 500 incredibly wealthy and politically influential blacks in this country, almost all of them coming from wealthy families that have been so since receiving inheritances from the days of slavery. Persons such as Senator Edward Brooke and Justice Thurgood Marshall are examples. This group does not tend to associate with other blacks. Their only ties may be through the NAACP or the Urban League. At the lower-upper level (the new rich), about 1500 black entertainers or athletes have achieved wealth and prestige by being lucky or talented. Persons such as Bill Cosby and Michael Jordan are examples. What is unique about this group is that they have done it in one generation. They have faced difficult white stereotyping and insensitivity.

The black middle class (the "black bourgeoisie") is growing. Families in this group are usually small, stable, and well-planned. In most respects, they are like white middle class families. Studies on this group have shown that they compensate for financial insecurity at times with conspicuous consumption, but that is also something that whites do. Like whites, this group is stuck in the middle; too well-off to qualify for most tax breaks, and too far in debt to ever get out of it on their own. At this level, you also begin to notice the shortage of black males able to support a nuclear family, and there have been numerous examples of one-parent households making it to middle-class status.

An estimated two-thirds of all African Americans fall into the lower classes, and as indicated previously, one-third are below the poverty line. The majority, then, are in the upper-lower ("working" or "proletariat") class. Typical occupations include truck driving, industrial jobs, construction, or auto mechanics. They value hard work, a college education, and a better life for their children. They have faced color barriers preventing them from getting ahead. Blacks at the lower-lower level are completely powerless, alienated, disorganized, segregated, in despair, and have no hopes of getting ahead. They have a disproportionate number of contacts with social workers and police officers. They have become society's scapegoat for the taxpayer's frustrations. The most important point in understanding discrimination against African Americans is to realize that the lower-lower class black has become the stereotype of all blacks in America. Failure to recognize this is what I have called social class discrimination.

LIFESTYLE DISCRIMINATION

The origin of blacks in America is the only continent in the world with practices that are completely dissimilar to anything Eurocentric. It's not that they didn't develop any law, science, or social institutions; it's just that they developed completely different ones that few anthropologists could understand. Further, each one came from a different tribe, with their own language, genetics, and customs. Therefore, when we talk about the existence of a popular "black culture", like the one portrayed by hip-hop music, it's just amazing that anything could cohere these diverse peoples around a common culture. Yet it is well recognized that a black culture exists, with unique demeanor, speech, clothing, and food. Lifestyle discrimination is based on the idea that black culture is somehow inferior, which is impossible since cultures are neither inferior nor superior, but rather, functional in terms of survival value for its people. The history of this idea may very well be as a fall-back position from the discredited idea of biological inferiority. Alternatively, it may be envy at how well some elements of black culture have penetrated white culture.

Much has been made of the legacy of slavery as a central element in black culture. The phrase "legacy of slavery" means neo-colonialism, which means modern or new forms of dominating paternalism. In criminal justice, the equivalent phrase is "seeing the police as an occupying army". The thinking operates on the basis of analogy; e.g., most blacks are kept in slum dwellings, usually owned by white absentee landlords; there are no community services unless they serve the needs of the community with cheap labor; and specially trained police are ready to seal off the area and quell any disturbance. The situation is analogous to: the colonists are provided the means for rudimentary shelter and they will get more when they start contributing to the commonwealth but meanwhile, our army stands ready to crackdown on the slightest sign of insurrection. It's not called colonialism because the people involved are citizens, not colonists. It's called neo-colonialism and it's built into our institutional structure.

SKIN COLOR DISCRIMINATION

As the most visible minority group in America, African Americans stand out. Although skin color is genetic, in a sociological sense it's a master status. The prejudice comes easy because black and white are instantly perceived as opposite colors. The problem comes in when characteristics like visible skin color are taken as indicators of quality, quality of housing, quality of service, quality of product, etc. Whether we're talking about neighborhoods, restaurants, swimming pools, or department stores, there's always the suspicion that "the grass is greener on the other side". Whites automatically suspect inferior quality wherever black-skinned faces are found, and blacks automatically suspect superior quality wherever white-skinned faces are found. It's more than just product placement, marketing, and consumer habit. It's our common law.

The most important legal case in African American history is Plessy v. Ferguson, an 1896 Supreme Court decision that upheld the constitutionality of a Louisiana statute requiring white and "colored" persons to be furnished "separate but equal" accomodations on railway trains. Now, most people know that the "separate but equal" doctrine was overturned in 1954 with Brown v. Board of Education, but Plessy is instructive in the sense that it dealt with the whole matter of race relations while Brown is mainly about education only. Let's take a short look at the reasoning behind the majority opinion in this case:

(Justice Henry Billings Brown speaking) "Facilities need not be identical to be equal, and if blacks see what they are provided with as inferior, it's not by reason of anything found in what they are provided with, but solely because they have chosen to put that construction on it." (Plessy v. Ferguson 1896)

What do you think this means? I think it means, despite the overturning in Brown, that blacks are forever deprived of their right to exercise intuition and preference about the quality of things that whites are provided with. This is nothing less than the worst kind of apartheid, a policy of racial discrimination that denies one group the whole freedom to choose what is good and what is bad. We have a similar tradition in criminal justice with our domestic violence problem. Feminists have argued for years that the victims of domestic violence can tell when its about to happen, but courts, scientists, and police tell them there's no such thing as woman's intuition, and nobody can do anything until the perpetrator makes a move. The point I'm trying to make is that skin color discrimination is very subtle.

ECONOMIC DISCRIMINATION

African Americans throughout most of the 20th Century have been discriminated against in housing, education, employment, and politics. The FHA, up until just a couple of decades ago, affirmed and supported the placing of restrictive covenants in trust deeds, and the practice of redlining is still suspected of being engaged in by some home mortgage lenders. Separate, inferior school buildings existed for most of the century, and even today, the issue of adequate state support for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) is couched in Proposition 209-type terms that such support will be a drain on public resources. In the industrial job market, which is the primary target for most blacks, the unions either had rules forbidding black membership or leadership. The political parties and political organizations always had less powerful "auxiliaries" they shuffled their black members off to, even today with "black caucuses". Nowhere and by no one are these past discriminations even recognized or redressed. The sad condition of poverty among most of the black population is attributed, instead, to a lack of motivation and effort. Affirmative action, which is the only redress that has been offered, is rapidly becoming dismantled due to its unpopularity and charges of reverse discrimination. Indeed, when politicians say that the proper role of government is not to fix all of America's socio-economic problems, what they really mean is that there will be no redress for past discriminations against African Americans. Bills to award slavery reparations (sponsored by people like U.S. Representative John Conyers) have been soundly defeated in Congress. On the other hand, there are those blacks (like radio talk show host, Alan Keyes, who are conservative and want to dismantle affirmative action.

The glass ceiling for blacks is worthy of mention. In the corporate world, they are usually appointed or promoted to human resources or public relations positions, where they serve a "showcase" function to the outside world and can't do any harm internally. The real production, sales, and marketing (revenue stream) positions go to whites, which are "fast tracks" to top management. Black executives also rarely have mentors or networks to support them on a day-to-day basis.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE DISCRIMINATION

Over time, the African American community has formed certain perceptions about police behavior that represent an overall lack of trust in the criminal justice system. For example, most blacks see racial profiling as rampant and widespread. This level of magnitude may or may not be true, but Amnesty International (2004) estimates that blacks constitute 47% of the victims of racial profiling (Hispanics follow with a 23% rate, Asians at 11%, multiracial people at 19%, and whites at only 3%). If racial profiling is indeed widespread, then this reflects some serious misunderstandings about race relations and can only lead to increased alienation of minority communities from the police. Racial profiling basically undercuts law enforcement efforts. See my agency racism page for an overview of other forms of criminal justice discrimination. What follows is a table of some black perceptions of common police action.

What clothing colours look good with red hair?

Tanya

I'm thinking of dying my hair sort of a mahogany colour, like Cheryl Cole.
However, I have a very bright wardrobe, and I'm thinking that maybe such a bright hair colour would limit what clothes I could wear with it.

What colours look very good with red hair, and what colours look really bad?

Answer
that would be a really pretty hair colour :)
red is probably more versatile than you think. no lollipop pink or red but a nice salmon is fine.
green looks amazing with red hair. i know this isn't the colour you want but this chick is an alright example: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg-7QF_x0sBobbRapMzmhENPVAAPRfWwwwecxDjffm41sADhx0uS__Xk5t5pTtP1RiSoSPTTrFYPtNxjb8KI-oUyjge1Uf0wDFEDQ_I6pH2bYIdLr9Wo2TDjV6xQMACpey3L91NEbVjkko/s400/christina+hendriks.jpg
black is a great contrast, beige can be nice and blue and purple make the red pop sort of like the green. all these are good colours if you want to stand out a little. you could go pastels of these colours but i am not a big fan of that. such beautiful hair and to hide it like that seems a shame.

colours to avoid are probably greys and white, and as stated before, red and hot pink because they will clash with your hair.

experiment with colours and patterns, htis is just a general guide. good luck!

how to get my hair this color red?

Answer
I have red hair, and have considered going into those more intense shades, so I researched a bit. A lot of people who want an intense red use Manic Panic or Special Effects brands. I've heard, mostly from Manic Panic, that these can fade quite fast, but can really get you the intensity that you want. A lot of people will use protein fillers for their hair color in between dyes to maintain the color, which adds any protein that got damaged from the dying process and restores any faded color (you can add this to hair dye as well, which is what I love to do). Some people add the protein filler to conditioner too, which I may start to do as well. To keep the color to last longer (and it's especially important for reds) is to get used to not washing your hair every day, because red is the quickest color to fade, and washing frequently makes it worse. There is a lot of information out there about managing to stretch your hair washings farther apart, so if you're trying hard to preserve the intense color, you should check that out too. Get color or color-treated hair specific shampoos and conditioners too.

Here's the colors from both that you should like you'd like

Help me with my hair situation?!?

Melissa De

Allright so this is what happened,
I wanted something new and I've always wanted to be a blonde. I have black hair with natural red hi lights. My friend bleached my hair and well. It's a light brown with brighter blonde yellow white roots. They all say I can Rock it but I don't want to. My hair isn't shitty looking but it definentlly got fried like all hairs would. How can I fix this quickly? I'm getting a hair cut tomorrow plus going over it with blonde dye to get rid of the weird light brown orange look out. But is there any treatments or home remedies or anything any advice you can share with me to helping my hair go back to silky smooth and nice again without having to wait so long? That's my first dilemma.

My second dilemma would be do you think I could get my hair to blonde? Or should I just stop now and dye it some other color? I don't want browns. At all./: what else is there besides red which us becoming way too trendy? I can send you pics to the kind persons that are willing to help me out

Answer
Ok, my hair is naturally dark brown and I have been every color in the book. The thing I've learned about going blonde is that is is very hard to do when your hair is dark like a deep brown or black. When you bleach dark hair you have to leave it on twice as long as anyone else, because it has to lighten several shades more. Almost always, dark to blonde hair will come out and ugly golden yellow color. It's also not uncommon for it to come out uneven like yours did. If you're going to do something drastic like that to your hair ALWAYS go to a professional! That was your first mistake. If there's any hope of it looking good, you have to go to a salon. It's very hard to look like a natural blonde when you're not one. The best thing is to dye your hair in sessions. Just added high lights over high lights will lighten your hair and make it look a lot more natural. As of now.. I'm not really sure what you could do with the color. Your best bet is to just dye it black and start over, but even if you do that the blonde is going to fade back through your black gradually, giving you a brown color. If you were to dye it red, it would probably look more orange. Unless that is something you would like, I wouldn't recommend it. An auburn or burgundy might look nicer, but they will fade quickly. Unless you like caramel blondish browns, I don't know what else you could do. Your hair dresser should have more advice though.

As far as getting your hair healthy again, you should start taking supplements. Biotin, Hair, Skin and Nails vitamins, and Fish Oil will all make your hair healthier. There are a ton of different treatments you can apply to your hair and the use mostly everyday household groceries like honey and lemon juice. Just look up some recipes online and try some out until you find out you like. Avoid washing your hair everyday, it strips your hair of moisture. Go every other day and use a dry shampoo on the days your didn't wash. Definitely stay away from any heat (hair straighteners, blow dryers, curling irons.) You'll need to rock natural locks, buns, and braids for a couple months if you want your hair to make any progress. One of my favorite products is castor oil. It's super cheap, like 3 bucks. If you massage it into your hair like three times a week you will see major improvements within a month. I think it's for black girl hair, but I love it. Also, if you can stand it, try to wash your hair in cold water. It's not harsh on your hair like hot water!

Good luck, if you want to send pictures of it to me I'd be more than happy to take a look at what you're working with and try to pin point your options better.

I have trendy colored hair, would you hire me?

E-Train

but I always cover it up for work with extensions, some how someone saw I had it and I got sent home, it says no colors in the rules but it is completely covered, maybe once in a while a strand sticks out but its not noticeable at all.
I have purple hair but its trendy
it looks just like this girl http://i52.tinypic.com/504o61.jpg (i'm not putting up a picture of my self hah) I have less purple in the front more underneath, I only have one facial piercing that I take out while I work.
I have been here for almost two years, I have gotten employee of the month many times and have gotten 6 things to represent that customers have called the company to tell them how much they liked my service.(its really hard to get an award like that they don't just hand them out) I come in and I do more than many of my co-workers I have an outstanding resume with at least 9 references and many skills.
would you hire me?
I cover it with extensions.

Answer
Depends how much company image matters and how much you are dealing with people. If it was a formal place then I wouldn't unless you where the only one with great qualifications. If you didn't work around people then I would.

In the work place (unless it's artsy or a hair salon) there is no such thing as trendy colored hair. All crazy colors are bad colors.

If I didn't know you had it or it was hidden then I would hire you, but colored hair is almost always a way to make a bad interview.

Is John frieda blonde color hair products good ?

Maya Poppa

I'm a dark brown and I want my hair to lighten up..I don't want lemon juice..and I don't want my hair to be like red or a blonde I just want my hair to be a little lighter brown..and I don't want any product that will make my hair dry and fall out..thannnkkss!

Answer
I already have blonde hair and don't notice that the shampoos/conditioners do anything at all. They do have a product called "Controlled Lightening Spray" that you use on wet hair with a blow dryer that worked for me after two weeks. I'm not sure how it will turn out for someone with dark brown hair, though. You may either not notice anything at all or end up with a color change that was completely unexpected. You're probably better off dyeing your hair a shade or two lighter than your natural color.

Hair coloring?

suppscenek

I'm going to be dying my hair from medium brown to blonde and I was wondering which coloring products are the best to use?

For example: Loreal, Garnier Fructis, Clairol, etc.
My hair is naturally medium brown.

Answer
Is your hair naturally medium brown? Or is it dyed brown? If it's dyed, you can't use haircolor to lift you to blonde, you can only use bleach. I'm thinking you won't be able to make the full leap from brown to blonde, either, even if it is natural.
Don't use Feria, whatever you do.
Garnier makes good conditioning colors, but so does Loreal (Preference). Keep in mind you won't be able to lift your hair more than 3 levels with haircolor.

Lighter and more golden shades are better for spring/ summer hair. Blonde highlights in your hair would look good.

Of course that color is in style, you can be chocolate brown year-round. (plus I love Nina Dobrev)

50-60's hair styles?

jessica_st

i was wondering what are cute 50-60's hairstyles for a party that i have to go to?

i have long hair f.y.i.
its also havanna nights theme too

Answer
For the younger women, pony tails were very big in the fifties. Also, a short cut called a duck's *ss came in style around 1960 or so. In the early sixties, long straight hair became popular for women (think folk music). As for older women (that is, married women), tightly curled hair ruled in the fifties, but became less tightly curled in the sixties. Perms were very big in the fifties.

If you have your choice between the fifties and sixties, go for the sixties and wear your hair long and straight with some flowers in it -- hippy style, like a little crown of flowers or one stuck behind your ear. Then wear a peasant style dress, a kaftan, or something else long and flowing -- or else tie-dyed.

What is an appropiate hairstyle for a 55 yeal old woman?

Terrie

This 55 year old woman is single.

Answer
Whatever she likes and feels most confident in! The idea that only certain lengths or styles are appropriate for older women and everything else is wrong is fast becoming a thing of the past. 50 year olds have been rejecting traditions and assumptions about age and appropriateness all their lives and quite frankly, why should they stop now? Ten years ago they were the first 40 year-olds who rejected the term "middle aged" and refused to replace their jeans, long hair and sleeveless tops with polyester stretch pants, short hair and sleeved shirts. 20 years ago they refused to buy into the notion that once yo turn 30 the best years of fashion and beauty were over and it was time to discard the mascara and dress like a frump. And when they were in their teens and 20 they rejected the idea that certain things were women's work and went out and got careers that when they were kids were considered suitable for men only and paved the way for today's women to follow whatever dreams they have and tore down all the barriers for future generations of women. So don't tell her she needs to get her hair cut, that her color is wrong or anything else!

Hairstyles for long, straight hair?

brat

I need something for work where I'm walking for hours at a time outside. I want my hair to be out of my face but I want to wear it down too. Are there any hairstyles that will look professional but cute? maybe something that is half up, half down. thanks
A buzz cut hmm? LOL!!

Answer
Here is a site that has a lot of long hairstyles to get ideas from.
http://www.perfectkarmabeauty.com/long-hairstyles.html

A simple pony tail can be really sexy with long hair. Or if you have some bangs, you can make some loose bangs or loose strands hang in the front.

You can also put it up in a claw clip, and that usually looks pretty good. The clip can make your hair look fancy, but is really simple to put up. All you have to do is hold your hair as if you're putting it in a pony tail, and twist it on the bottom, bringing the rest of your hair up on the top of your head (so you have a twist or two on the bottom and loose hair on top). Clip the loose hair, and let the loose hair fall around the clip to cover the clip. I used to wear my hair like this all the time when I had long hair. You can also pull out some loose strands in the front to make it cuter. Hope that helped.

What is a good product for a man with short, coarse hair?

L

I am in the Navy and have what has been recently described as short, very coarse, dry hair. Unfortunately, with my first Navy short haircut 17 years ago, I discovered that I had a cowlick on the left, rear of my head. When my hair was longer, it was very curly, but parting on the right. I never even knew the cowlick existed. The short Navy hair perpetually made my lefthand cowlick look like a large exposed bald spot and with the natural part still on the right.

Now after all these countless Navy haircuts, I'd like to grow out my hair, but the cowlick is causing the now slightly longer hair to stand on end and be frizzy. The rest of my hair, even just slightly longer, is returning to curl and is unmanageable at my current length. My experience with standard gels is I will experience crisp hold for the first couple hours, but by midday the hair has become lifeless and the hold disappears. It doesn't help that I am required to wear my uniform hat whenever outdoors.

At my last haircut, I expressed my desire for longer hair, but was frustrated by crazy hair, the part in front and cowlick in back. That's when I was told my problem was very dry, coarse hair. She brought in a "second opinion" and that gentleman agreed that my dry, coarse hair was the reason my hair was not lying down more and being tamer. He also explained that my hair was also my problem with the gels I had been using.

I was not provided with any product solution, just discussion. So I have been Googling the last couple nights, trying to figure out something. Any ideas?

Answer
For shot styles, use a control wax rather than a gel. Krew comb, jar variety, works well, is inexpensive but mostly sold to the trade. Some Walgreens sell it and so do many barber shops. All Sally beauty supply stores sell it; they are located everywhere in the US. Other waxes will also work but unlike krew comb, which is more like a hydrogenated wax, can build up in the hair. To remove a wax build up.
1) Apply shampoo to dry hair and lather up.
2) Rinse hair with warm water.
3) Shampoo again as one normally does.
A wax does not set up a stiff breakable hold like a gel. The hair can be tousled and brushed back into place. More can be applied during the day if needed or upon awakening if there is not time to shower.
It sounds like you may have a double whorl, right and left, rather than a cow lick, if the natural part is on the right.
http://i.imgur.com/i0jcV.jpg
For a right part with a whorl on the right the hair swirls from the right side whorl in a counter clockwise direction. Not sure how short your hair is or how long you want to grow it but in general, shampoo and condition every time you shower. Use a mild pH balanced shampoo and a rich moisturizing conditioner. The rate of hair growth is controlled by inherited DNA. The average rate of hair growth is 1/8" per week. If a guy has a short style, it is going to take a while to grow out.

..... a guy can grow out his hair and have it look great as it grows out if he keeps up with haircuts, getting a slightly longer style each haircut. Assuming an average rate of hair growth of 1/8" per week and haircuts every three weeks: short crew cut; medium crew cut; short ivy league; ivy league; long ivy league; regular taper cut. At this point there will be around three inches on top and the back and sides can start to grow over the ears and collar with haircuts every six to nine weeks to add shape and even up new growth.
While a butch fully suits relatively few guys, a barber with a good aesthetic sense can usually design a regular layer/taper cut or one of the short pomp(pompadour) styles-crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut- to fully suit most young guy's head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features.

A minute dab of control wax aka butch wax will keep the hair looking well groomed at crew cut and ivy league length. A butch comb- the small, flat, plastic, oval, pocket brushes that one finger fits through and barbers sell for about a dollar- helps with grooming a short pomp style. A boar bristle military brush is usually available for a few dollars and is nice to have at home.

does a bald fade look ugly on a guy?

Tj

i got one today and its the shortest my hair has ever been. so far people are saying it looks good on me but idk. what do you think?

Answer
If everyone says the style fully suits, then it probably does. It sometimes takes longer for a guy to tell how well a new style suits because his brain is searching for the frame for the face formed by the prior style. Once the brain forgets that, a guy can appreciate the new style. Bald fade is just a fad word for what is actually known as a short taper for a very short style like a butch, crew cut or flat top.

Is Dry Shampoo okay for colored hair?

I have 3 colors in my hair, and I bought Salon Grafix Dry Shampoo for those days I just need a little freshening in my hair. It said on the back, "Wash dry shampoo thoroughly out of hair before coloring" Does this mean it will wash out my hair/fade it?

Answer
No, that just means that if you are about to color your hair and have used the dry shampoo recently, make sure you get it all out because it will affect how the color soaks into your hair/comes out. If your hair is already colored, that's not a problem.

Can you shampoo hair after coloring?

Stephanie

With a color safe shampoo and conditioner?

Answer
Did you used a box kit hair dye? It already comes with shampoo & conditioner.

Sun can fade color-treated hair (invest on a good wide brim hat), chlorine is blue, blonde is yellow, chlorine coats the hair, leaving it green, wear a bathing cap and rinsing your hair right after swimming. Hair products are killers on colored hair deep conditioning the hair once a week to retain moisture. But avoid products with keratin because that can actually harm the hair color. Volumizing products and clarifying shampoos can be too cleansing and can strip the hair of color. Brazilian and Japanese relaxers also limit what you can do with color because they really change the condition of your hair. Don't use Head and Shoulders, Pantene or Suave because of the build-up they can leave and the color-stripping they can do. - InStyle

Which hair color, length, and type( like curly or straight) do you prefer?

Jasmine

Im just curious that's all
I like black, curly, medium length hair.

Answer
Hair colors can add spice and enhance many hair styles. It's fun and rewarding when a much anticipated color change comes out dazzling, but it is also completely devastating when it works out wrong. An important rule is a great hair color should look as natural as possible.

Good hair colors can add shine, drama and fun to your hair style. It can make some hair types easier to style. Although the majority of women color hair to cover gray hair, not all women who color their hair are gray. Many women try a hair color change for the fun of having a new look, and the pizazz it can add to your hair style.

If you decide to add color for hair, it would be wise to first educate yourself. Taking the time to learn about color can save you tears and disastrous results.Remember, if your hair is in damaged condition before hair coloring, it may very well become worse afterward. Make sure you have your hair condition in the best possible shape before adding color for hair. For the best results, stay within two shades of your natural hair color.

What hair color is the most common?

Q. I'm thinking it's black, then brown, then red, and last blonde. Is that right?

( Naturally, not dyed. )

Answer
Gray or white hair is the most common if (with God's grace) one lives long enough: Individuals of European descent tend to start to gray in their mid 30s, Asians in their late 30s, and sub-Saharan Africans in their mid 40s. Estimates vary but perhaps up to 75 percent of all middle-aged American women dye their air to cover the gray. However, 50 percent of all Americans are 50 percent gray by the time they are 50. However, there's absolutely no proof to the malicious rumor that parents get gray hair from their children.

Seriously, the most common natural human hair color is black, found among all ethnicities; then brown, the most common hair color in Europe; then blond, which originated around the Baltic Sea 11,000 years ago at the end of the last Ice Age and only makes up about 2 percent of the total human population; and then red, which makes up about one percent of the human population, but is most common in Scotland and Ireland, where redheads make up 13 and 10 percent of the population, respectively, and in Scandinavia and among Ashkenazic Jews.

P. S. --- 25 percent of all men start to bald by age 20; by age 60, 2/3rds have begun to bald.

How to get a hairstyle like Zac Efron ?

ashwin

I have thick, dark brown, somewat silky hair, and i thought of keeping a hairstyle like Zac efron(the swept-over one). I have to wear helmet while riding ma bike.. So wanna know if i can get this kinda hairstyle.. will it suit me.. and if yes.. then how can i get it ..?

Answer
it only suits on Men with Oval or Square faces
its not trendy hairstyle & it doesn't look cool.
here is the way
Place a small amount of gel-wax in the palm of your hands and then distribute it evenly throughout your hair. By applying just a small amount of gel-wax you will create hold and a semi-wet effect.
Using your blow-dryer and your fingers blow dry using this method, Use your blow-dryer and dry your hair using your fingers, separating your hair and allowing it to dry completely at the roots first then the mid lengths and then the ends. By making sure your roots are dry first will ensure that your hairstyle does not fall flat.
Apply a small amount of gel-wax to your fingertips then pull through the ends of your hair in a downward motion to achieve a semi-wet and textured effect.
Style Your Bangs to the Right Using Gel-wax Apply gel-wax to your fingertips then gently rake through your bangs, sweeping the hair to the right as you go. Gel-wax will give you shine and a soft hold.
Style Your Sides Down Using Gel-wax Using a small amount of gel-wax, work it through the mid-lengths and ends in a downward motion.
If you want a more textured, grungy look, use more gel-wax while pinching the ends as you go.
To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back.
Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.

Hair color can change your whole appearance because it frames your face. "I think of color as an important accessory that enhances your unique beauty and facial features," says Oded Gabay, celebrity hair stylist and owner of Lovella salons in New York. "You'll know when you've found the right color for your individual skin tone because you'll love it right at that moment and won't need to get used to it." The secret is to find a shade that enhances rather than detracts from your complexion. You don't need to waste precious time and money testing out different shades. hairstyles for a bigger nose?

krisindeed

I'm not overly concerned about it, but I want to feel better about myself as I just had a baby so I weigh more than I ever have before, and want something to make me feel better. My nose isn't wide...its lumpy and long. I hate it. Is there any hairstyle that would help kind of..hide it? Are bangs a yes or a no? My nose is normal looking from the front, but my profile is horrid. Looks like a beak.

Answer
Love your face no matter what but here's your help:
I would not reccomend bangs, but you can always try it. Just be careful becasue once you cut bangs, it takes a lot time to grow back. What I would do is just try to draw attention to your hair, instead of your face. Try out different hairstyles, and you'll find something. Good luck!!!!

Hairstyle for guy with bigger nose?

siezetheda

Ok so heres the deal. I hate my nose. It has a lump on the bridge, and it's wide. I don't see it being attractive at all. I always feel like crap when I think about it. It hurts my self esteem. I know "looks don't matter" but every once in a while a friend of mine will tease me for having a "jewish" nose, when I'm not jewish.

I need some way to help this, and I know some hairstyles can. I like to keep it traditional with a short cut, and never really tried anything different.
Any input would be greatly valued. Please don't bash me.

Answer
aw i think you look fine =]

just find a style that doesnt accentuate the nose too much if that's what you are particulary concious of ..

just like girls with big foreheads, eg, Rihanna, she keeps the attention away from it by wearing a fringe swept across her forehead.

here's a tip.. look through a male hairstyle magazine and just quikly look at hairstyle...
and ones where the HAIRSTYLE ITSELF captures your eye .
note them.
because obviously you didnt catch your eye
on
their
nose.

if your eye goes straight to the models nose...then obviously i would advise

NOT to pick that hairstyle.

and besides.. hairstylists are experts at their job. just discreetly tell them that you want to get the attention away from your nose and they will then work their wonders =]

hope this helps =]

Marilyn Monroe Hairstyle?

I heart MH

Hello Everybody!!

I have been told by many people that I look exactly like marilyn monroe (ie facial/body features) - although i have goldy/brunette hair.

My hair is curly/wavy (depends on weather), and it is about 2" past my shoulder in length. It is very lightly layered in the bottom. And i am half italian (and half danish), so i have very pale skin, and VERY thick hair (but i think i am lucky, as i think it is really beautiful!)

I am in grade 10 at school, and have my semi formal in about 2 months. When i finish school i am going to cut, style and dye my hair to be like marilyn's. But for my semi, i wish to grow my hair as long as possible.

I am using all-natural home-made camomile shampoo which makes my hair grow faster than normal, and emphasises the blondeness in my hair.

i would like to know how to use hot rollers, or a hair straightener (brand - GHD :)), to style my long hair like marilyn monroe's.

Please give me step by step instructions.

Thankyou :)

Answer
Ooh great question! I do burlesque performances so I'm loving the 50's set. So much classier than straw like straight hair. So, if you want a perfect copy of marilyns do i would go to a hairdresser. But if you wanna have a go at home:
Put your GHD at the back of the cupboard.
Buy a set of heated rollers, with all different sizes and prefereably flocked (with velvety stuff all over - makes your set hair shiny!). Let them heat up until they are really hot!
Blow dry your hair with your head upside down so your roots are 'boofy'.
Run masses of product through your hair - try a few different ones before the big night. I went through about 10 before I found a combo I like. And you don't have to spend more than $15 on a hair product that is just plain stupidity when there are people in the world starving. I use a $5 moulding paste for guys and a $4 laquer together.
Divide your starting from the crown to the back, twist up with pins in the meantime. Takes practice! If you have thick hair I'd say 12-18 sections ought to do it.
Comb a peice of hair out straight, above or to the side of your head, put the roller about 5 cm from the end, roll the end over and tuck neatly under the other hair, then roll up (under and towards the back of your head for ones at the side, over and back for ones on your crown and top, and under and to the front of your head for ones at the back, if you get what I mean!). Pin and clip with the clips that came with your rollers.
Leave for 15 min, blast with a hair dryer (yes, you'll feel stupid blowdrying clips, it's the next best thing we've got to those mad heated caps hairdressers have), leave for another 10. Take out very carefully (helps to have another person help you). Spray each tendril with hair spray, turn you hair upside down, separate the curls with the tail of a tail comb (not too much, usually in half does it).
Turn your head back the right way and see if a part settles. If it doesn't, just pull some hair at your crown over, 'boof' it up and pin. Pearl pins would be super pretty with your blonde hair. More hairspray. (notice the pattern here?!)
Voila! Silver screen vixen!
Takes lots of patience and practise but well worth it! Good luck!

How do I do a 50's hairstyle if I have long hair?

Andrea

My friend is having a 50's themed party but my hair is like half way down my back and all the hairstyles I can find are for short hair.

Answer
I have hair down to my knees, and I've done SHORT HAIR STYLES on mine, by the use of claw clips and bobby pins, to look like BOB LENGTH.

Google 50's hairstyles for long hair. http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=50s+hairstyles+for+long+hair&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

Sure anything can be done, just be creative about it. Set your hair first to help manipulate hair better.

If you want curly hair, (or straight hair to tame your curly hair) look @ videos or hairstyles of women in the late 40's or 50's, and see how healthy & silky their curly hair was. Have you seen Miracle on 34th Street? Many women then wore hats, and pin-curled or plastic curlers curled HAIRSTYLES. The men too, have very shiny hair like the women . . .that was before Bumble & Bumble's production 70's, John Frieda's production 1988 or the invention of heating tools.

People slept with their curlers on, or sit in the beauty salon for 20 mins. under a helmet of hair dryer.

Curlers comes in small, medium, large curlers.
Small if you want tighter curls, shorter hair.
Medium: medium curls, medium length hair.
Large: longer hair, larger curls.

"smaller section of hair you use the tighter/bouncier the curl, and the longer bigger section you use the bigger the wave or loose the curl. "

Start your curlers, where you want the curls to begin.

You can also pin curls your hair, if they're short to medium. You can also braid your hair the night before, after they've been wash, all night and sleep with them, and take the braids out in the morning. Finger comb to style. Use scarf to keep them from the wind.

HEAT PROTECTION, does not protect hair 100%. Like using sunscreen, you still get sunburned. Same with hair. Hair products are not made of glue to fix, prevent, reverse hair from getting damaged or hair loss, they ARE A TRILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS, and the hair industry also do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss caused by heat & chemicals.

hairstyles for thin straight hair?

hi i have thin straight hair, its long, blonde.
hairstyle ideas please
my hair is so flat help!
also any volumizing product ideas i can use?

Answer
You could get a root perm which will lift your hair from the roots, but this is a permanent thing and it will have to be maintained constantly. An easier & cheaper option would be to buy yourself some rollers, and after you have washed your hair, rough dry it so its still a little damp and put them in and sleep with them in or just let your hair dry fully, these will automatically lift your hair and give it a wave. When you take them out, put hairspray into the roots so that that the lifted hair is held. If you don't have time to do this, when blow drying your hair, hold the hair dryer so that the funnel faces upwards and blow dry your hair like that - it will ruffle up the hair cuticles and give you that volume look. Use heat protector with all of these options though!

If its a haircut you want, get layers put in, the shortest layer being just beneath your head and jaw, and ask for a blunt cut, as blunt straight cuts on the hair look so much thicker. or you can get low lights which will automatically give depth to your hair.

As for products, there are so many on the market, its about trying them out and seeing what works best for you, each month try out a different one and don't use too much conditioner in your hair as it will weigh it down.

A good hairstyle for thin hair?

xoxo

i currently have medium length hair with a some side bangs. My hair is really thin though so when I straighten it, it just looks gross and gets flat and just sticks to my face.
I really want a new haircut though and i have no clue what to do with it. I don't want to cut it above my shoulders though... I have oval shaped face by the way.

I was thinking of something like this... Would it look any good?

thanks =]

Answer
it depends...do you have a picture of your hair, i would say that you should try straightening your hair with a blow dryer and a curling iron because it less heat damage to your hair, for some reasons my bangs just stick out when i use a straightening iron and they look bad too,

also use heat tamer spray or heat protecting spray, they help keep your hair from getting damage, also try heat activated products they are suppose to give u the best look when you use heat, like a blow dryer and curling iron and even a flat iron, you should try it and see if it works, i would try tresemme or nexus or vo5 products and got2b products have some heat activated products too hehe also theres some thickening hair products through shampoo and conditioners but ive never tried them because i have thick hair, i would say before you really try any type of hair due make sure u have a shampoo and conditioner that works for your hair, try a shampoo and condition that really improves and makes your hair the best it can be, like making it soft and whatnot before really trying any drastic hairdue because you need to make sure your hair can handle anything you throw at it, i really like loreal paris pro vive shampoos and conditioners but a lot of other people seem to like herbal essence, just think, keep it simple and then work up from there!

hey can your hair change colour naturally caz i have now about 5 pieces of red hair and i am a brunette

Answer
Yes your hair changes about every 7 years.Your hair is not just brown it is made up of a lot of different colors to make the brown. The hairs sometimes become more noticeable with being out in the sun, pool, tanning bed,Medicines, shampoos and other things.

Hair color?

Q. I am wondering to determine a hair color for i am looking for a change and will hange my haircolor within a week. I have green blue eyes and fair skin, not white white but white skin. Right now my hair is red, but i am looking for a change. Something drastic but will still loook good on me. I'll answer any other questions i need to to find a good color. How do you determine a correct color anyway?
Skin tone is like avitar not ghostly white but i plan to get somehwat of a tan this summer haha so it'll change.

Answer
red hair with strawberry blonde or blonde highlights look fantastic and add dimension to your hair...its a good change, and it will give u a whole new look, and it'll look good with a tan too....highlight in small strips all over your head for a drastic new look...but u have to go to a salon to get it professionally done.
it's way better than just going 'blonde' or 'brunette', cos it looks alot more chic and stylish this way, u won't have to worry about it not matching your skintone, and u still get to be a redhead....I've always wanted to have red hair.

My natural hair color is brown. I was bleaching it blonde at a salon for the past two years. 4 months ago I decided to go dark again, the color didn't look the way I wanted it to so I begged them to make it blond again. They did, the next day! In result I lost so much hair and the rest were severly damaged. 4moths has passed and i've been doing everything to bring my hair back to normal. I used aphogee treatments, and conditioners. My hair looks better but probably the only solutions is to wait for it to grow out. I have horrible roots showing since 4 mnts have passed. I'm sick of dying my hair blonde since i know the horrible result of it. Can I just die my hair brown or is it too early? Should I just do the roots on the top and leave the ones under alone and wait a couple of months do die my hair browns. What do u think? Will coloring them dark damage them further?

Answer
You should be able to have your roots done without a problem. Personally, I wouldn't be able to wait a few months. You should find someone who is experienced with color and explain to them what happened the last time. No matter how much you begged, a reputable, experienced stylist would not have bleached your hair the next day. Ask the stylist about using a demi-permanent hair color on your hair instead of permanent hair dye. It doesn't have peroxide and it won't damage your hair.

i used just for men in my hair.is there a way to rinse the color out completely

Answer
Just for Men is a semi-permanent hair color designed to enhance grey hair without changing your own natural color. It is designed to wash away over a period of time (about 6 weeks) but if you wash your hair three to four times it may be effective enough to reduce the appearance of color.
You can also try a baking soda scrub for the hair.
1/2 Cup baking soda
Enough shampoo to make a paste with the baking soda
Make the paste and wet your hair. Apply the baking soda paste to your hair and give it a good scrub. It will feel a bit like sandpaper, but it won't harm your scalp or hair at all, it simply removes "residue" and build up of hair products.
Hope this helps

Why has my hair gone limp and lifeless?

jasmine

I wash my hair every day, use a volumising mousse, blow dry then straighten

Until literally two weeks ago my hair was full of volume and colour, now it has literally gone mousey and limp.

Is there any remedies I can use ?

Also is there anything I can do to get my hair to grow quicker ?

thanks x

Answer
You have several issues here. Let's tackle one at a time:

1. ALL HAIR STRAIGHTENERS, no matter what brand, who sells them, how much you paid for them, ALL damage the hair. Read what it's doing to their hair, even the most expensive salon products: Hair loss, hair falling, split ends, hair not growing normally. I've responded to many girls under 15, experienced in hair falls since 2009. I've responded 7 in 2 hours, 9-3-10.

Volumizing mousse or any hair products won't help make hair more volume, they're just tricks of the trade used by the hair industry to help 'dirty' up hairs so they can be styled better instead of working on silky, smooth hair like mine. That's why I shampoo every 4th day, by then it's easier to work with.

2. One method to make your hair look fuller, add body, bouncier, thicker, more volume & shiny hair is to set your hair with plastic curlers, you'll end up with uniform balance of curls. Blow dry while curling them in curlers. Take them out, and finger comb to style. Used by the best hair color models, and the fashion industry, like Victoria Secret Fashion Show Dec. 2009, America's Next Top Models, EXPRESS models seen in Glamour magazine Sept. issue, and are continued to be used today where salons care about pampering your hair. When you see hair on TV a hair color commercial, they're not done by curling or straightening tools. Hair that shines like that and feels like hair, not hay, has to be done by the best hair tools available w/out damaging to the hair. When you take the curlers out, finger comb to style or lightly brush. Tousle the hair up. or shake your hair. You can use large, medium or small curlers, that depends on the length of your hair.
Niecy Nash - Dancing with the Stars recently seen using it backstage, too!

Even used in Miley's newest hairstyle.
http://stylenews.peoplestylewatch.com/2010/06/21/miley-cyrus-dramatic-new-haircut/

The hair industry is a billion dollar business, their aim is to make tons of profits, and they do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss. Shampoo is meant to clean (Google it), and if they do other things like GROW, OR MAKE YOUR HAIR MORE VOLUME, they're lying. It's all about marketing to attract more buyers.

The photos you see in the magazine ads or TV advertisements, took a lot of manipulation: hairstylists to do hair, photographers & his assistant to adjust lighting, and several shots of films, and the model 8 hours to be photographed. It's the trick for the hair industry to sell and temp the buyers. Their job is to make tons of money, but they don't tell you everything why, what, when and how. They also don't give you money back guarantee for damaged hair.

If your hair is stick straight & you want curls to last for days or until your next shampoo, braid them in several small sections, finger comb & you're good to go. You don't need products for that. Same with curling your hair, using plastic curlers. The more sections, and smaller the braids, the tighter the curls. The bigger the braids, less sections, the looser the curls.

3. It may grow very slowly or none at all if you've straightened your hair in the past.

You get the strength & all your vitamins & minerals & proteins FREE from the good foods you eat from Mother Nature, not made by man, and no shampoo can help grow hair, not even those made for horses. Horses don't abuse their hair, using heating tools, and they eat better than people, but it won't add more hair & make their hair longer faster.Shampoo intended for animals may contain insecticides or other medications for treatment of skin conditions or parasite infestations such as fleas or mange. These must never be used on humans.
Prenatal vitamins don't make your hair grow. Pregnant women have to start taking care of their bodies when they're pregnant, meaning stop smoking, drinking, dyeing or perming their hair SO OF COURSE their hair start growing again. But it has nothing to do with their hair, it has something to do to help the development of their unborn child.

Can putting relaxer in your hair removie the highlights?

Ravenclaw

I've recently highlighted my hair and now I am interested in getting a Brazillian relaxer. But will that make the color in my hair come out?

Answer
Putting one chemical on top of another is both lethal, can cause instant hair falls, specially if your hair is thin or Afro-Amer. hair which are two of the most fragile hair texture of all.
I wouldn't recommend them. There are many brands of hair straightening out there and they call them anyway they want to get your attention. Coco is another name brand. Some Japanese hair straightening processes can damage the hair and leave it flat and lifeless.
None is better than the other.
Ex. of one relaxer: http://monicabtheorganicstylist.wordpress.com/tag/hair-relaxers/

Keratin are not approved by the FDA. Visit their website & search for it in their web. If you're thinking about the Brazilian treatment, there's a danger about using formaldehyde, a chemical that causes cancer. The FDA does not restrict the use of that chemical in cosmetics.

A hairstylist in Portland, Or. is blowing a whistle on the treatment.
"A big red flag: About a month after she started using Brazilian Blowout on clients, Scrutton had the first nosebleed of her life."

after_hair_stylist_becomes_sus.html
(Type it in if they moved the page. "After hairstylist becomes suspicious of Brazilian Blowout, tests find formaldehyde".

Stylists and clients often wear gas masks or other protective equipment and still may feel the ill effects of this potentially fatal gas.

Many customers and stylists do not know that this Brazilian treatment often contains high concentrations of formaldehyde, a cancer-causing chemical.

Relaxers are for permanent, but they are damaging to hair.

Go to the FDA website & type in permanent or relaxers so you understand what are the side effects.

Here's the newest news:
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently seized tens of thousands of bottles of "Rio" hair relaxer products after determining they can cause severe hair loss or turn hair green.
http://blog.taragana.com/business/2010/0â¦

The FDA last month warned consumers not to use "Rio Hair Naturalizer Systems," a product imported from Brazil and sold through television infomercials by World Rio Corp. of Los Angeles.

The official complaints against hair straightening products range from serious hair breakage and hair damage to serious scalp burns that may require an emergency room visit.
Example of what one suffering severe hair loss after Japanese Hair Straightening from YA HAIR:
I got my hair rebonded back in March and have lost more than a third of it since then. Everytime I run my hands through my hair, I lose 7-10 strands on average!
In the shower I lose clumps after shampooing and conditioning.
Bald spots are showing up in my hair.
I used to have beautiful thick hair, ho can I get it back?

Another ex: I used to have very curly, beautiful hair..and then i got it chemically straightened..DONT DO IT! when it started growing out, it was mess and even more difficult to work with than before. and once it was completely grown out, my hair was no longer curly..it is now this aweful wavy mess, and only certain spots are still curly.
