Hair Buzz Generator Anyone?

Jordan

I live in a state where the highs are 105+ degrees everyday! I sweat like a pig. >.< So I've decided (finally) to shave off my full head of hair. All of it! Less to take care of and keeps me cooler, not having to shower few times a day. :o

This will be the first time my hair will be buzzed and I want to know if I'll look decent with it. D: I've been searching google for a FREE buzzed/bald head generator and it's not coming up good. If someone could find me one I'd love you forever. Have to make a decision by the end of the day.

Answer
A hair style generator cannot accurately portray how a guy with a full head of hair will look with a shaved head or a butch...
http://i52.tinypic.com/f10bon.jpg
.... the style probably being referred to by "shave off my full head of hair." The relation of the skull shape to the frontal hairline, face and neck shape and facial features are crucial elements with regard to how well a butch suits and there is no way a style generator can know the exact skull shape for a guy with a full head of hair. A butch fully suits relatively few guy. As far as a cool feeling short haircut for the summer, a short pomp style-crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut- actually beats out a butch. During the hottest parts of a Summer day, the sun is directly overhead and the top of the head gets hit directly with the suns rays while the back and sides get the rays at an angle, much less radiant energy transmitted at an angle. With a butch, the hair is so short that the scalp on the top of the head is not shaded and gets hit with the sun, full strength. With a short pomp style, the hair on top is long enough to shade the scalp somewhat but still short enough to allow free air flow to aid in evaporation of sweat which is an endothermic process that absorbs the body's heat to transform the sweat from a liquid to a gas, cooling the body; therefore, a short pomp style will feel cooler than a butch. The back and sides can be tapered similarly with all of the short styles. While a butch fully suits relatively few guys, a barber adept with the short styles, can usually design a short pomp style to fully suit most young guy's. For a guy who has never worn a short buzzed style before, it is a good plan to first try an ivy league and then if there is a desire to go shorter, go with progressively shorter crew cuts, maybe a flat top crew cut. If a guy has never worn a style with short tapered hair on the back and sides and with the ears fully exposed, first try a regular layer/taper cut. The mid to lower back and sides can be tapered as closely as an ivy league or crew cut. This will accustom a guy to short tapered hair on the back and sides and to having the ears fully exposed before going short on top. He will also get most of the cooling benefit of a short summer style even with a few inches left on top.

Is it more attractive for a BALD guy to have facial hair?

Brandon 42

I happen to be a young 26 year old guy who has gone naturally bald. Not a big deal really. Problem is, I cant and could never grow much facial hair. It comes in very light, scraggly, patchy, and to get anything decent, it takes much longer than alot of guys, and even at that point, it doesnt look respectable. Can a bald guy get away with a clean shaven face, or does he need some sort of facial hair style to make his overall appearance better? Thanks

Answer
personally i think a guy with hair on his face instead of his head is kinda gross. you should keep your face clean shaven.

What is a good product for a man with short, coarse hair?

L

I am in the Navy and have what has been recently described as short, very coarse, dry hair. Unfortunately, with my first Navy short haircut 17 years ago, I discovered that I had a cowlick on the left, rear of my head. When my hair was longer, it was very curly, but parting on the right. I never even knew the cowlick existed. The short Navy hair perpetually made my lefthand cowlick look like a large exposed bald spot and with the natural part still on the right.

Now after all these countless Navy haircuts, I'd like to grow out my hair, but the cowlick is causing the now slightly longer hair to stand on end and be frizzy. The rest of my hair, even just slightly longer, is returning to curl and is unmanageable at my current length. My experience with standard gels is I will experience crisp hold for the first couple hours, but by midday the hair has become lifeless and the hold disappears. It doesn't help that I am required to wear my uniform hat whenever outdoors.

At my last haircut, I expressed my desire for longer hair, but was frustrated by crazy hair, the part in front and cowlick in back. That's when I was told my problem was very dry, coarse hair. She brought in a "second opinion" and that gentleman agreed that my dry, coarse hair was the reason my hair was not lying down more and being tamer. He also explained that my hair was also my problem with the gels I had been using.

I was not provided with any product solution, just discussion. So I have been Googling the last couple nights, trying to figure out something. Any ideas?

Answer
For shot styles, use a control wax rather than a gel. Krew comb, jar variety, works well, is inexpensive but mostly sold to the trade. Some Walgreens sell it and so do many barber shops. All Sally beauty supply stores sell it; they are located everywhere in the US. Other waxes will also work but unlike krew comb, which is more like a hydrogenated wax, can build up in the hair. To remove a wax build up.
1) Apply shampoo to dry hair and lather up.
2) Rinse hair with warm water.
3) Shampoo again as one normally does.
A wax does not set up a stiff breakable hold like a gel. The hair can be tousled and brushed back into place. More can be applied during the day if needed or upon awakening if there is not time to shower.
It sounds like you may have a double whorl, right and left, rather than a cow lick, if the natural part is on the right.
http://i.imgur.com/i0jcV.jpg
For a right part with a whorl on the right the hair swirls from the right side whorl in a counter clockwise direction. Not sure how short your hair is or how long you want to grow it but in general, shampoo and condition every time you shower. Use a mild pH balanced shampoo and a rich moisturizing conditioner. The rate of hair growth is controlled by inherited DNA. The average rate of hair growth is 1/8" per week. If a guy has a short style, it is going to take a while to grow out.

..... a guy can grow out his hair and have it look great as it grows out if he keeps up with haircuts, getting a slightly longer style each haircut. Assuming an average rate of hair growth of 1/8" per week and haircuts every three weeks: short crew cut; medium crew cut; short ivy league; ivy league; long ivy league; regular taper cut. At this point there will be around three inches on top and the back and sides can start to grow over the ears and collar with haircuts every six to nine weeks to add shape and even up new growth.
While a butch fully suits relatively few guys, a barber with a good aesthetic sense can usually design a regular layer/taper cut or one of the short pomp(pompadour) styles-crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut- to fully suit most young guy's head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features.

does a bald fade look ugly on a guy?

Tj

i got one today and its the shortest my hair has ever been. so far people are saying it looks good on me but idk. what do you think?

Answer
If everyone says the style fully suits, then it probably does. It sometimes takes longer for a guy to tell how well a new style suits because his brain is searching for the frame for the face formed by the prior style. Once the brain forgets that, a guy can appreciate the new style. Bald fade is just a fad word for what is actually known as a short taper for a very short style like a butch, crew cut or flat top.

What are some tips on growing out my hair?

best facial hair style for bald guys

best facial hair style for bald guys image

Tommy Wise

I am looking to grow my hair out some but not really long. The last haircut I got was a complete buzz cut down to my scalp where I was almost bald. I guess you could call it a military style haircut, and I got that at the beginning of July. Now my hair is about an inch long and I am looking to grow it out some. Do I need to get any haircuts or should I just let it grow. Please let me know what I should do? or any tips! Thanks

Answer
Your July haircut is known as a butch. When the hair is cut shorter than 1/4" on top, a butch that short is also known as a burr. A butch fully suits relatively few guys. In contrast, a good barber can design one of the short pomp(pompadour) styles-crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut- to fully suit almost any young guy's head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features. If your hair is now about an inch long then it is growing at the average rate of 1/8" per week or maybe a little faster depending on how short your hair was actually cut and how early in the month of July. One inch is long enough at the front hairline for a medium crew cut. Getting a crew cut now and then going for a slightly longer short haircut every three weeks or so will allow you to see how well you suit a variety of short styles and will not really lengthen the time it takes for your hair to grow to a guy's regular taper cut style with about three inches on top which is what I assume you mean by "but not really long." Here is how I grow out a short crew cut or flat top crew cut:
crew cut:

short ivy league:

ivy league(long crew cut):
http://h.imagehost.org/0168/Kid_with_a_Coke_Zero_Large.jpg
Some barbers describe an ivy league as a crew cut just long enough to be parted and combed to the side, if so desired. An ivy league can also be worn with the hair brushed up off the forehead to form a short pomp front, or with the short bangs brushed down on the forehead like a forward brush cut.

regular layer cut:

It can also be interesting to see how well a flat top crew cut suits while your hair is crew cut length:

Essential barbering knowledge:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Crew_cut#Clippers.2C_Blades_and_Guards
Grooming any of the short pomp(pompadour) styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same and takes about a minute or two.
1) Towel dry hair.
2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.
3)Transfer wax to palms.
4) Smooth palms over hair.
5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front.
Whichever style you decide on, be sure to take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber. If you need more photos of any of the styles discussed above let me know.

Can you shave your head using a razor you would use on your face?

Q. Is that possible. On someone with short hair?
I mean a disposable razor.

Answer
How to Shave Your Head
Going Bald By Choice - Professional Advice

By Dave Alexander, About.com Guide

A shaved head is a good option for guys with thinning hair or for any man with a great looking head who wants to make a bold statement. Before attempting to shave your head for the first time, I strongly recommend consulting your barber or stylist who can help determine if the style will work well with your face and head shape and show you how to shave your head.

If this is a first time shave for you, I suggest that you take the plunge at the beginning of the weekend or start of a vacation. This will give you time to get used to your dramatically new look and allow you to get some color on your scalp before you reveal your new style to friends and coworkers.

The three steps below will help you get the best result possible. Allow a good half hour for the first shave. After a few days of shaving, you should have the routine down to five minutes or less.

Step 1: Prep.
Always shave your head at the end of a warm shower which softens the hair, cleans the skin and open the pores. During showering, rub a soapy wash cloth with slight pressure against the growth pattern of the hair to lift the hair for easier shaving. Next, apply a good shave cream and allow to stand for a few minutes to further soften the hair. Stay away from gels or products which contain menthol, which will close the pores and desensitize the skin. You'll want to be able to feel the razor glide over your scalp. Never skimp on preparation. This is vital to a good shave.

Note: If this is your first time shaving your head, use a hair clipper with no guard to remove as much hair as possible and exfoliate the scalp with a facial scrub prior to shaving.

Step 2: Shave.
It is helpful to have a hand mirror available so you can check your work from all angles. You don't want to miss anything. It's also important to shave in a room with bright lighting.

Use a clean, sharp razor (a three-blade razor works best) and start by shaving with the grain (the direction the hair grows). This will help minimize cuts, irritation, and ingrown hairs. Glide the razor gently down the sides and back and from back to front on top. Avoid applying pressure, rinse the razor often, and take it slow. If this is your first time, do not shave against the grain for a few weeks to give your scalp time to adjust to being shaved.

After completing the shave, apply a small amount of lather to your hands and rub your entire head, checking for rough spots that need to be re-shaved. Pay special attention to the areas behind the ears and the back of the neck. If you cut yourself, apply a moist alum block to stop the bleeding. Follow the shave with a splash of cool water to close the pores.

Step 3: Repair and Protect.
After shaving, gently pat the head dry with a soft cloth and apply a good aftershave balm. I recommend the use of products that are free of alcohol which can cause unnecessary drying of the skin. The right aftershave balm will help promote quicker healing and moisturize the skin. Before going out in the sun, apply a light sunscreen to prevent burning.

Shaving your head daily or every other day will make it easier to maintain the results and keep you looking fresh. Once you and your friends and coworkers adjust to your new look, you'll find a bald head will set you apart from the pack.

Im going to a new school. It starts in 9 days. I went for a buzz cut but now im practically bald. Is there anything i can do to help it grow back a little faster?

Answer
The rate of hair growth is controlled by inherited DNA and there is no scientific proof that anything can increase or decrease the rate of hair growth. The average rate of hair growth is 1/8" per week. If practically bald means the hair was cut with a #1 guard(1/8".) In a week, for a guy whose hair grows at the average rate, it will be #2 guard length or 2/8", twice as long and won't look practically bald. In nine days it will be slightly longer. How does a hair transplant work, what exactly do they do in the process?

Angela C

There's this guy that I absoultey love, care for deeply but he's going bald and he's 27 yrs old, I just wanted to know exactly what do they do in the process?

Answer
This should show you what they do:

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHnsa-gy2tU
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dxp_kfHf40&feature=related
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LP-r7jfFON8&feature=related
Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZ4Bk4dJD0c&feature=related

Today, hair transplantation is a very refined outpatient procedure that can produce full and natural looking results, even after only one hair transplant session. When performed correctly, not even a hair stylist will detect that a person has had a hair transplant. However, it is critical that the hair transplant procedure be performed correctly to achieve such natural results. To do so requires a hair restoration clinic that can perform both Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) at the highest levels of skill, experience, and dedication. Manzanares Hair Restoration Center is in the forefront of this surgical hair restoration.

What is hair transplant exactly?

Hair transplantation is an artistic redistribution system that takes donor dominant hair follicles donor areas such as the chest or from the very back of the head (which are genetically resistant to hair loss) and artfully relocate them into thinning or balding areas. With current microsurgical technologies, this results in a very natural appearance. Basically, we take hair from where you have more than you need and put it where you need it more. The hair that is now growing will be permanent for the rest of the patient's life. Those newly transplanted hairs need no more care than ordinary washing, styling and trimming as you have always doing in your hair. The end result is your own natural hair growing the way nature created hair to look, feel and grow. More at http://www.manzanareshairrestoration.com

How effective is hair transplantation?

Hair transplantation is a surgical office procedure for the treatment of hair loss. This is accomplished by actually transferring grafts or small sections of hair bearing skin from the back of his scalp to bold areas on the top of the head. Follicular hair units are usually used. This technique is very effective in most types of hair loss, including male and female pattern loss. It is also effective when concealing scar injury and complications from disease. It is especially effective in concealing the scars from facial plastic surgical procedures (face lifts, brow lifts, etc.). Even eyebrows and eyelashes can be reconstructed with excellent cosmetic appearance. Women in particular are excellent candidates, as their hair loss tends to be diffuse and can afford them full coverage of the area while undergoing healing. Best of all, your results are permanent. More at http://www.manzanareshairrestoration.com

A typical hair transplant procedure has at least seven steps:

1. Consultation
2. Blood Tests
3. Anesthesia
4. Extraction of donor hair
5. Division of donor hair into follicular units
6. Implanting of donor hair
7. Post operative care

and it's not painful....

Are there any risks with hair transplant surgery?

There are practically no risks involved in hair transplant surgery. Occurrences of infection after the procedure are rare. In the few cases where infection does occur, it is often due to the patientâs failure to fully follow post-operative instructions. When infection occurs, it is easily treatable with antibiotics which can be prescribed by the physician. More at http://www.manzanareshairrestoration.com

It maybe costs $6000 total... For the whole head I think....
Typically hair transplants are priced on a per graft basis ranging from as low as $2 per graft to as high as $8. Today's state of the art hair transplantation uses grafts, which contain naturally occurring "follicular units" that have between 1 to 4 hairs per follicular unit. Large surgical sessions of 2,000 or more grafts are now being done by leading hair transplant clinics with very natural results.

But the quality of patient results varies widely from poor to outstanding. Price is important. But since the results for good or bad will last a life time, quality is the most important consideration.

Research any hair transplant surgeon that you may be considering by visiting discussion forums to view actual results from real patients.

Answer
It depends on a couple of things. You have to take into account the texture of his hair, his facial features, his head shape ect. I mean somebody with a box or square shaped head probably won't look good with a bald head. But in general, I think most (black) guys look good with fades and dreads. The best picture I can find of a fade would be this one of Chris Brown(minus all of the designs):http://www.google.com/search?q=Black+men+with+fades&tbm=isch&pbx=1&aq=f&oq=&aqi=-k0d0t0&fkt=1650&fsdt=10849&cqt=&rst=&htf=&his=&maction=&site=images&gl=us&source=mog&hl=en&csll=&action=&ltoken=ce316387&biw=320&bih=455&sei=ZBHyTqCuL4eC2wW1mcWtAg#i=3
Also this (fade): http://www.google.com/search?q=Black+men+with+fades&tbm=isch&pbx=1&aq=f&oq=&aqi=-k0d0t0&fkt=1650&fsdt=10849&cqt=&rst=&htf=&his=&maction=&site=images&gl=us&source=mog&hl=en&csll=&action=&ltoken=ce316387&biw=320&bih=455&sei=ZBHyTqCuL4eC2wW1mcWtAg#i=2
Here's a picture of a taper fade: http://www.google.com/search?q=Black+men+with+fades&tbm=isch&pbx=1&aq=f&oq=&aqi=-k0d0t0&fkt=1650&fsdt=10849&cqt=&rst=&htf=&his=&maction=&site=images&gl=us&source=mog&hl=en&csll=&action=&ltoken=ce316387&biw=320&bih=455&sei=ZBHyTqCuL4eC2wW1mcWtAg#i=5
And a picture of a guy with dreads: http://www.google.com/search?q=Black+men+with+fades&tbm=isch&pbx=1&aq=f&oq=&aqi=-k0d0t0&fkt=1650&fsdt=10849&cqt=&rst=&htf=&his=&maction=&site=images&gl=us&source=mog&hl=en&csll=&action=&ltoken=ce316387&biw=320&bih=455&sei=ZBHyTqCuL4eC2wW1mcWtAg#i=7
(Sorry for all of those pics, just wanted to be clear and provide visuals.)

How can i get my hair to grow back faster?

Jackson

Starting from a butch.....

..... a guy can grow out his hair and have it look great as it grows out if he keeps up with haircuts, getting a slightly longer style each haircut.

Search the internet for images of soccer star Lukas Podolski for numerous examples of the ivy league and crew cut style.

A minute dab of control wax aka butch wax will keep the hair looking well groomed at crew cut and ivy league length. Krew comb, jar variety, works well and so do many others. A butch comb - the small, flat, plastic, oval, pocket brushes that one finger fits through and barbers sell for about a dollar- helps with grooming the short pomp styles. A boar bristle military brush is usually available for a few dollars and is nice to have at home.
