I need hairstyle suggestions for women over 50. I have a lot of hair and it's natural curly?

My hair is fine and down to my shoulders. I have a natural side part. Thing is I have sooo much hair, almost double of what normal people have. Think Morgan Fairchild type hair as far as a lot of it. I am also starting to get that double chin look that comes with age. I use to pull my hair back in combs on each side. It looked great, but now with the chin thing happening I don't know if that would look all right. What hairstyle would look good. I'm not into the let's cut if off and get the grandma curls. Short hair never looked good on me. I have a long neck too and I'm short. 5'1"

doesnt matter whether or not you have curly or straight hair because it'll still be the same shape :)

For the younger women, pony tails were very big in the fifties. Also, a short cut called a duck's *ss came in style around 1960 or so. In the early sixties, long straight hair became popular for women (think folk music). As for older women (that is, married women), tightly curled hair ruled in the fifties, but became less tightly curled in the sixties. Perms were very big in the fifties.

If you have your choice between the fifties and sixties, go for the sixties and wear your hair long and straight with some flowers in it -- hippy style, like a little crown of flowers or one stuck behind your ear. Then wear a peasant style dress, a kaftan, or something else long and flowing -- or else tie-dyed.

Whatever she likes and feels most confident in! The idea that only certain lengths or styles are appropriate for older women and everything else is wrong is fast becoming a thing of the past. 50 year olds have been rejecting traditions and assumptions about age and appropriateness all their lives and quite frankly, why should they stop now? Ten years ago they were the first 40 year-olds who rejected the term "middle aged" and refused to replace their jeans, long hair and sleeveless tops with polyester stretch pants, short hair and sleeved shirts. 20 years ago they refused to buy into the notion that once yo turn 30 the best years of fashion and beauty were over and it was time to discard the mascara and dress like a frump. And when they were in their teens and 20 they rejected the idea that certain things were women's work and went out and got careers that when they were kids were considered suitable for men only and paved the way for today's women to follow whatever dreams they have and tore down all the barriers for future generations of women. So don't tell her she needs to get her hair cut, that her color is wrong or anything else!

Im doing my dads girlfriends hair on her wedding day, she wants a classic and simple in a down style, with maybe a few bits pulled back off her face, shes 50 (but doesnt look it) and she has shoulder length golden blonde hair quite thick with a fringe i want it to look different from her normal straight style but she doesn't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb (her words not mine) if anyone has any ideas or pictures it would be much appreciated!!! thanks xxxx

How do black women maintain their hairstyle after exercising?

I thought I was the only one with this problem! I wear my hair in a straight sewed in weave and when I just get it done (like yesterday morning) it makes me not even wana workout because I dont wana sweat it out! Anyway, of all the hairstyles Ive had I find that this is the best for working out. Being that only the front of your natural hair and maybe the back is out, that can be easily touched up. I am able to just wrap my hair after I leave the gym and the next day it looks fine without flat ironing it. You can also go with a wavy or curly sew in which will really blend with the texture of you hair after working out, just moisturize and go! Remember the type of hair you purchase makes all the difference. Try REMI-VELVET or any REMI hair its about 50$ a pack for 12" but it can last for up to 4 months if it is taken care of and done correctly. It is so silky and doesnt crawl up the back of you neck! I hate to be limited to only braids because I workout. When Im not at the gym sometimes i want something cuter than braids!
