I'm 45 and have a lot of clients in the age range you asked about. Depending on bone structure, condition of your hair, and various other factors that make a hair style appropriate, the general rule is not to go too much further than the shoulder simply because it tends to age us a bit and draw the eye downward rather than up around our nicer qualities like eyes and smiles. You won't be obligated to do anything that day since you will only make the appt. for a consultation and then if you like what the hairdresser suggests you can always make another appt. If you don't click with the stylist you've lost nothing but a few minutes of your time and you can try again with another hairdresser.
