I have a few gray hairs so I plan on coloring my hair on a regular basis. Answers from stylists or those with sources preferred.

Answer
The only difference in the two is that the permanent will cover your gray hair completely and the demi will only cover a small % of gray hair only. Plus it will fade faster. It also depends on how gray you are. If your less then 50% gray go with the demi. If your 50 to 100% Gray go with the permanent.It's healthy if they only put it on your new growth only, so either one is good.

What is the best home color kit for getting rid if gray hair? I have tried many brands and have had no luck.?

little bit

Being a mom, I would prefer to color my hair at home to save on costs.
* I am a natural brunette.

Answer
Visit your local Sally Beauty Supply and buy a professional brand such as Clairol Professional's Miss Clairol Graybusters. Graybusters were specially formulated to cover 100% most resistant gray. At Sally, there are swatches on shelf to help you choose the right shade. You can always mix Graybusters with any other Miss Clairol shades, especially if you are looking for a warm brunette or cool brunette. The shades to look for are 83N, 84N or 85N. Mix with 20 volume and process for 30 minutes. Good luck.

I have blonde hair and have been spending $100-150 to get my roots (gray!!!) covered every 9-12 weeks or so. Unfortunately, I can't afford it anymore. Is there an over the counter color that will cover the gray and not torch my hair?

Answer
Whats wrong with having gray hair...if it already looks good on you leave it alone.

What is the best permanent hair coloring product?

I need the best product out there that colors gray and resists fading. I have used light ash brown in several brands but even that seems to fade into a reddish color after a few weeks. Please share the cost if you know it. Thanks!

Answer
I have had great success with Garnier 100% line. It covers all my grey well and fades less than any other colour product. You're going to have some fading in between going under the bottle-that's just a fact of life, so use a gentle shampoo and shampoo less often, but condition like crazy. I haven't tried any of the colour boosting/enhancing products, so I can't say but they may be worth a shot to give the colour a boost between colouring.
