He used a styling spray and probably just messed his hair up with his hands lol. sorry I really think it can be that simple.

Use TreSemme ultra hold anti frizz spray. It will hold your hair in the right position, get rid of frizz, and its not as greasy as those nasty gels and styling creams.

Good luck. I doubt you will have trouble with getting hair style like him if thats what you want.

I have short hair and I want to style it. Any advice on products and techniques/methods would be helpful.

You can spike your hair by first washing and drying your hair. Then, Brush your hair straight back. Now, put some gel in the palm of your hand. It should be about the size of a nickle. Rub your hands together and rub it evenly through-out your hair.Use a pick or wide-toothed comb to brush your hair upward. You may use a hairdryer set on low to speed up the process.
("Bedhead" products as well as gels labeled "Extra-hold" work best for this style)
